I had him on my wish list in draft season as a possible sleeper pick..... glad to see Colts have added him to the practice squad, hope he can be a solid backup and ST'er next year.

I did as well being a Hoosier fan.  I saw he got cut by the Bolts and thought we might have picked him up before now.  He's not the fastest guy but he's a tackling machine.

Reading his NFL.com profile, it reads just like Matt Adams and Zaire Franklin's.  He's just quite a bit slower.

Except Morrison couldn't cover his grandmother. Hopefully Scales has better instincts. That can neutralize the speed issue.

40 time only, not play speed.  Both Adams and Franklin were in that 4.55 range if I remember.  Scales was at 4.77.

Not all.  Morrison didn't have great timed speed but he's fast enough to play in the NFL.  Morrison just looked slow because he took forever diagnosing the play and was hesitant to stick his nose in there.

 

That does not seem to be case (at least from the scouting report) with Scales.  They say is play recognition and diagnostic skills make up for any lack of straight line speed.

Yes but as we know he ran great routes and his conditioning kept him running full blast all game long

Well, according to this piece on Reddit with a couple of other links... that is not correct.

 

Also I was not using it as an example to say he can't play, just stating that he sounds a lot like Adams and Franklin; team leader, good football intelligence, hard worker, strong, good tackler, etc., just slower.

This defense relies on speed because speed kills in the 

4/3 defense. Is Scales similar to Morrison? It doesn't hurt

to kick the tires.....
