Why would any team sign him if they feel comfortable with their own QBs? Tolkien showed nothing and it was evident today and the whole of camp. The keeping of Tolkien smells like an Irsay move as well so Pagano probably had no choice... Point is they both need to be left in LA

I'm not trying to defend tolzien.   Dude is terrible.   Something made the team scared of morris though

I think he could throw 3 picks, but 3 pick sixes would be tough unless the defenders had a clear path.

Hmmmm...it's tricky now isn't it, because we want to see Tolzien's 3 pick six's and we know he only dissapoints us, so none then?

what does kapernick do well besides run?

That's it honestly. Besides the fact that he doesn't make many mistakes. But if people are crying over the fact that Tolzien doesn't take chances down the field, they don't want to see Kaep starting for this team. He is the five yard pass specialist.

i guess we will see what brisett can do fairly soon

i dont really care about kaps protests either, but we all know the colts probably wont be the team to sign him unless they feel pretty desperate

Agreed. I hope Brissett turns out to be fantastic for us. But Pagano still has to make him the starter first.

I honestly think it's because Pagano's job is on the line this year and he wanted to go into the season with a QB that had experience. That's it.

It had nothing to do with competition because Tolzien was clearly outplayed. Pagano played it safe and he bet on the wrong horse (Colt).

He'll be fine, we'll see a lot of progression from him next week.  14/25, 150 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 3 sacks and 1 fumble vs AZ.

What team picked up Morris?

It's only a matter of time before Tolzein is released and watching games from the couch like us. I know Ballard said Morris didn't look good in camp but looked better towards the end of camp and preseason. That somehow was not enough to save Morris. But at the end of the day, Tolzein has yet to get us a win and we should be looking for a way to change that. Brissett is coming now.

The gm makes personnel charges.

I have to believe JB starts next  week

They do not make decisions in a bubble. Any good GM/Coach tandem will sit down before final cuts and have discussions. You are one of the more knowledgeable posters here and I'm sure you already know this. Ballard has the GM title, and the final say, but not without input from the coaches.

But it ultimately falls on Ballard right?  Just like the coaches in the booth not telling pagano you challenge the back td falls on pagano.   Ballard is there for every practice.   He saw and agreed with the coaches ultimately

Cool....they're both to blame.

Yup. Wasn't arguing with the fact that Kaep is being blackballed and he deserves to be in the NFL, just the fact that you can't say he's better than Brissett without letting him get 5 or 6 starts under his belt.

Just stop. I read your post about Kap being bad last year and that's just not true. He was 16td, 4int , 90.7 qbr in 8 starts . Hardly terrible . I don't know if he would make a difference or not but do some research first. He declined an option by the Niners if im correct , mistake on his part.

I think the Tolzien over Morris decision was based solely on how they are in practice/ on the sideline with the clipboard. With Brissett already slated to be the young inexperienced guy we need another experienced set of eyes on the sidelines. My guess is Morris didnt show them he could be that guy. Simple as that. I think Tolzien is there because he helps Brissetts progression more than Morris would.

At this point I have to believe that. Otherwise its gonna be a long few years.

Nonsense. He was 1-10 last year so he had 11 starts and his QBR was 55. If he wasn't bad last year he wouldn't have lost his job to Blaine freaking Gabbert. Him kneeling isn't the only reason he is out of the NFL. You see talents like Michael Bennett and Marshawn Lynch sitting during the anthem and they have jobs. He's being blackballed because no one is willing to take a backup with that baggage. If he had a 90 QBR he'd be starting somewhere right now.

I already said that he deserves to be a backup somewhere because he's probably better than half the backups. He'd still be the worst starter in the NFL. And he's not a good fit for this NFL team where fans are ripping Tolzien for not pushing it up the field when Kaep averages 6 yards a pass. He doesn't have many picks because he doesn't take any chances.

He did not have 11 starts or a 55 rating. Lol. The Niners have zero talent at WR. 11.4 yards a reception.

    • He's not signed, there is nothing else to talk about and I am bored.
    • Yes, I know. The Stanford teams  when Hogan was the starting QB were full of top recruits on offense and defense. It was so much fun being a fan then. I'm not as big a fan of Stanford as you are. Being on the East Coast makes it hard to follow them as much as I used to.   Overall, I am becoming less and less interested in sports. For over 20 years, I used to listen to sports radio whenever I had free time.  I used to follow tennis, golf, baseball, college basketball, a little NBA and NHL as well as NFL and college football. I once went to 20+ baseball games in a year.  The only sport I still follow religiously now is NFL football. I try to follow my favorite baseball team, the Mets, but not enough. I attribute my loss of interest to there being too much change and movement of players, coaches, teams, conferences, etc. Stanford is now part of the ACC! My goodness! (Shaking my head) I don't like all these changes in conferences.   I was a big fan of Ted Leyland, Stanford's former athletic director many years ago. It saddened me when Leyland left Stanford to go to the University of Pacific which was his alma mater. I see he retired. He hired Buddy Teevens who died last year. Back in those days, I followed Stanford football a lot more closely. They were not great years but I loved rooting for players who also excelled in the classroom.   TL;DR 😉
    • Oh I think they are ready. They are right in the thick of it. Well educated and smart women. They are more in tune with the Indianapolis Colts than all of the new ownership in the league is with their respective franchises. I'm not concerned in the least with these ladies taking over moving forward. I think it's a great thing and speaks to the stability that the organization is preaching and looking to build.
    • I'm out this year. I'm going to be focusing on my bestballs and daily fantasy. I already have $400 invested and am making a concentrated effort this year to win some money.
