What do you all think about drafting this guy in the later rounds as our KR/ PR?

If we are talking late round special teams, I'd rather go for a PK to compete with Vinatiere. Adam has been great, but he is the oldest player in the NFL; he doesn't kick off anymore; and his cap hit for a kicking specialist is quite high. (Need to get ready for Luck's big contract cap hit and this is one of the ways.)

If the Colts bring Adam back they aren't going to draft someone to compete with him in camp.  They would just not re-sign him and probably bring in a kicker or two to compete for the job if they don't bring Adam back.  However, re-signing Adam and then drafting a kicker makes no sense because either you are wasting the money it would take to re-sign Adam or you are wasting the draft pick used to take a kicker because both aren't going to make the roster.

Also Adam could do kickoffs if we needed him too.  McAfee has just been better at it so they have let him do it.  The Colts are not the only team in the league who lets their punter do kickoffs and has their kicker handle only kicking duties.

I would guess even if the Colts bring Adam back he still wont be playing when Luck's contract is up and if he is they could release him at that point if they needed to clear cap space for Luck but something tells me Adam's contract even if he is kept wont be the difference in terms of having money to keep Luck or not.  Properly handling the other big contacts they are going to hand out this off-season will have much more to do with that.

The problem is lots of team are going to want to draft Dri in the later rounds.    Our chances going in are slim at best....

Odds are he'll either go to a team that has extra picks to burn, or to a team that will over-value his speed and take him a round higher than most would want to...

That makes our chances very, very slim.

Still.....   I love the guy and would love to end up with him....   I just don't see it happening.

I like the play that starts at 2:29.

He has some wheels for sure.  Makes some good TD catches in the second half of the video too.

I would love him as a 6th or 7th round pick.  After that 4.26 40 he may be gone in the 4th or 5th though.

What is all this "Luck's Big Contract" talk? He's not getting a $100 million contract. He'll get $70 million at most unless he wins the Superbowl or has a legitimate MVP season.

romo and ryan didnt do either of that and got 100 million

Ryan made it to an AFC Championship and had an MVP-esque season in 2012. And Romo plays for the Cowboys, who have possibly the worst GM-Owner in the league. That contract was a joke. But Romo has also been in the league for like 8 years.

Luck will get around the same amount of money that Kap and Cam get. He's a better QB than both, but he is still somewhat un-proven.

As long as the Oakland Raiders are still alive, even if Al Davis is not, he ends up being a Raider with that 40 time. :)

Rashad Jennings and 2 speedsters in Taiwan Jones and Dri Archer should get that offense rolling.

Ultimately, his chance of succeeding depends on going to an offense with a good playcaller. Guys like Andy Reid, Mike McCarthy, Sean Payton and the usual suspects in Pats, Broncos, Seahawks, 49ers etc. are all quality offensive teams that could use him really well.

Maybe the Vikings remember how it was to have Percy Harvin along with Peterson and might draft him for their change of pace backup to run those sweeps, reverses and screens, maybe???

no, but they are both basically the same type of back. we just dont have any luck with scat backs and besides we still have rainy to do KRs

For the record, I don't think we need anymore backs. I'm just stating that I don't think Archer and Williams are the same level of prospect coming out. Williams was barely even drafted. Archer will probably go in the mid rounds, after his combine showing

I guess it all boils down to the OL and his vision for running between the tackles. Going outside the tackles is something NFL Ds will adjust to quickly and you need to be able to run with vision between the tackles well enough to succeed in the NFL.

The best role I can think for Dri Archer as an RB is if you have a good OL like the 49ers and use him like a Kendall Hunter as a backup RB. Or be in at least a 3 man RBC like with the Pats or Saints and get passes thrown to you on the wing for YAC. His value as a KR/PR is undeniable though. The question is, with NFL hits, can he hold on to the ball? I see Trindon Holliday with the Broncos and for all the plays that he makes, he is a high ceiling low floor type of guy with bad decisions and fumbles in the return game.

Chris Johnson had a good OL when he came into the league as a rookie and did run between the tackles and showed good vision in his first year. Then the OL started going south, teams had more film on him and he never adjusted.
