Grades vs Seattle

Huge win against one of the best teams in the league.  If the Colts ever figure out how to play a full 4 quarters they'll be next to impossible to beat.  On to the grades

Offense

QB: B+   Another tough start and some dropped passes and a lack of running game made things even more difficult but Luck pulled it out in the end.  No INTs and some clutch throws to give him another 4th quarter come from behind victory

RB:  C   Not many yards but a huge third down conversion for Richardson.  Not many holes today and the run blocking hasn't looked this bad since last time Satele started.....

TE/WR:  B-   Too many dropped passes but TY came up huge and Reggie is as clutch as they come.  DHB was very disappointing.

Oline: C-   Very few holes for the run game and too much pressure on Andrew.

Defense

Front 7:  B-  Too many yards for Lynch.  Not going to slam them too much for all the Wilson runs as they did pretty well against the called option plays.  Wilson is a nightmare to contain when the play breaks down and they struggled.  Wilson is slightly overrated IMO as a passer but if anything he's underrated as a runner.  Glad we only have to see him once every 4 years.

Secondary:  B  Had good coverage many times that was negated by some ridiculous plays by Wilson.  Were shaky early but had a solid final 3 quarters.

Special Teams:  B  Very Jekyll and Hyde.  Reed made awful decisions bringing the first 2 returns out from 9 yards in.  Blocked punt is inexcusable.  Horrible first punt as well.  Then they turn around and block a FG and return it for a TD and have excellent coverage the rest of the game.  That's a +5 in direct points and I'll give a B overall.

B for our D?  Are you serious?

Against one of if not the youngest OL in the league - all but one a replacement?

Our front line D gets a C- if not a D!

Obviously I don't grade them as harshly as you, but I think it's pretty encouraging that we can beat a team the caliber of the Seahawks where you can make a reasonable argument that most of the team only brought their "C" game.  If they can bring the "A" game in a couple weeks against Denver it will be a very interesting game!

    • There won’t be anyone to sign if they want that long. But they will probably see what happens in OTA. Personally I don’t think colts have a time line. They are on diggs and Simmons schedule. It’s up to them when they feel like signing.
    • I watched the Kansas St.-Texas game from 2023 today and Mitchell was outstanding in that one. One long td(47 yards), another long reception(37 yards) and he had excellent blocks on CJ Baxters' 47 yard td run and two other excellent blocks that sprung runners for huge gains. If you had only watched the first half of that game while scouting Mitchell and saw nothing else you would have taken him in the top 10. That is how impressive he was in the first half of that game. I'll add this also, when watching Texas games from last year watch Mitchell BLOCK. I'm no scout and I don't watch 100's of hours of film, but from what I've seen of him at Georgia and his one year at Texas I don't know how he fell to number 52. Welcome to the Colts Adonai, I hope you burn up the league this year! Go Colts!
    • I was referring muscle-wise not his actual weight. Compared to the start of the season where imo he looked smaller, I think he added a lot more muscle
    • But he carries it well.   Honestly I doubt he’s that big now….   One would think he’s in good shape now that he’s being active for the first time in roughly 6+ months.     Im just thinking out loud….
    • CJ also made comments about being glad he wasn't drafted by Indy and how Indy is boring. I know he has the nice "humble beginnings" story, but he's making himself feel like a villain early. You don't want to annoy people that might be your future coworkers or employers. It's a bad look.
