Is there a chance he doesn't play Sunday or am I just being optimistic? 

“The 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Aldon Smith,” the team said in a release.  “As we continue to gather information regarding this situation, we will have no further comment.”

"Smith blew a .15 on his breathalyzer test, though it's unclear how much weed was discovered. Smith is undoubtedly, eventually facing a league-imposed suspension, and at this point we wouldn't be totally shocked if he were held out of Sunday's game against the Colts."

If he does miss Sundays game, I think it's more likely in will be a self imposed ban by San Fran than the league doing something this quickly.

Amazing they disciple the last guy on the team to do it, but not Aldon. Double standards...guy messed up and the team should stand up can put some discipline down.

Always drinking and driving? Come on man, you making hundreds of thousands per game and you can't afford a taxi cab?

I can't believe these people get away with so much stuff...

 

Honestly a DUI or possession of weed should cause you to get banned from football for a year without pay, I am sure that will fix the problem.

Multiple offenders should be banned from the NFL for life, that should teach these in-greats a lesson.

Eh, hand out yearlong suspensions for weed automatically and the guys will just increase the amount of the other painkillers they take to play every week. DUI's, on the other hand, they really need to drop the hammer on. I read where Smith's foot was still on the gas pedal when they found him- fortunately the tree stopped the car. For whatever reason, driving drunk isn't viewed as a big deal in the NFL. It should be, but it's not. A guy blazing up at home isn't going to put my family in jeopardy; driving drunk, whole different ballgame.

      The problem is we have seen this approach with Ballard fail year after year when he puts too much faith in guys. I hope he is proven right because I don’t want to see this secondary fail again. Again we will see if anything is added before the season starts.

      If he can’t beat our Ewers, I don’t see him making the nfl. Ewers is not that good at all

      Most secondaries are in trouble if their top two corners get hurt. Baker played better down the stretch. Jones can back up both boundry corner spots. I think Abraham will show to be good depth behind Kenny Moore. And it's still very early to evaluate what we have and make changes if necessary.  The D line is stacked now so that will help the coverage on the back end. Finally as I said before Blackmon is the veteran on the back end. It's obvious they have some kind of trust in Cross. Ive told most of the forum here more than once you guys are going to find out Daniel Scott can play. Lastly we just drafted a rookie safety from Auburn who has skills.   Stop throwing guys in the trash after one bad year. Especially if they are young and the staff says they can play.

      Here's another positive indication about Mitchell. He seems to have great relationship with his WR coach at Texas and this is their call after he got drafted by the Colts. You aren't getting that type of personal relationship if the guy was a bad worker or had bad attitude with coaches or something of the sort. It seems like his coach genuinely cares about him and wants the best for him and seems like AD reciprocates with a lot of respect for the guy that helped him get where he is now.   So yeah... I guess at this point I will trust Ballard and assume it wasn't grandstanding just to make ourselves look better.    Lets hope he continues to work hard and lets hope he proves all the naysayers wrong.
