Why doesn't Pat Mcafee take over our field goal kicking? (merge)

I'd rather Pat always being the punter. Guy has a strong leg, not so accurate, but that's what you need in a punter.

Right now Pat is second with a 52.5Y/P to New Orleans Thomas Morstead's 53.3Y/P. Has the the 6th longest punt with a 64 yarder.

Secretly I just wanted to give some neat stats.

Do they measure KO Touchbacks? Be interesting to see where he sits on that stat....

Yes I did watch the video and yes that is great, but! there is a but! the further back you go the lower the ball leaves his foot and can be blocked and that does happen more than not, not saying it won't be blocked ALL the time or will be blocked ALL the time. And the further back the better field position the opposing team will take over if any time left on the clock if missed or blocked and recovered, we will see how big a cahoonies Pagano has and let McAfee try it at the end of a game to try and win, and if he did miss or blocked other team couldn't go the other way, would be wild!!!!!

I heard Pat on the Dan Dakich show this past tuesday and he said when Vini was done then if the opportunity is there he would like to step up ... He has the leg. Go to youtube and search. He can do it too. But because Vini missed a couple of kicks( albeit IMPORTANT clutch kicks) doesn't mean he is done IMO. For the most part he is still one of the most accurate in the league. Ask the Patriots how much they miss him? :td:

ooopps I see someone mentioned youtube already my bad lol

I think Mcaffee is a pretty cool guy--he punts great, tackles surprisingly well (I'm sad that we even have to see him tackle), and has personality, but I think we may overemphasize the power of his leg. While his punt/drop-kick is fine, he never seems to kick the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs as often as a given kicker on an opposing team... and this seems to parallel fields goals a bit more accurately than does a punt.

I think Pat could kick it out the back of the endzone every time if he wanted. I don't know why he doesn't, but I don't think it has anything to do with ability.

<br />Nah, he can, just doesn't. Probably told not to because some * bring it out from 8 yards deep and are downed inside the 20. He put them that deep when the kick was at the 20, so I'm sure that's nothing. Also, I remember last season he put a kickoff through the uprights, and tweeted at drug test he was assigned and said something to the affect of "this is what happens when you put a kickoff into the first row of fans, I should have seen this coming"

Here's the tweet:

When you send a kickoff thru the uprights and into the stands you kindof expect this the next day http://t.co/fvXJJVy9

75 yards in practice on you tube is different than a game. Sebastian Janikowski used to hit 70 yarders in pre-game warmups, but only recently became a member of the 63 yard club (Tom Dempsey, Jason Elam, and recently David Akers too) in a real game. Only 4 guys at 63, nobody has made one from any further out in a meaningful game.

Akers was really cool because it "thunked" the crossbar and popped over. :)

To answer the question on this Topic

He's not kicking our Field Goals because we have a HOF Kicker.

Did McAfee make that GW FG this past Sunday? I thought for sure Pat's number was #1, not #4.

Let him stick to Punting & Kick-off like he has been excelling for the past 2 games with our improved Special Teams

AV makes the long game winner last week and misses the easy one today.....terrible miss, may well cost them the game today

I could have made that. When I was training with my high school to placekick I nailed 40 yarders with ease. Vinny can kick 50 yarders but not this? Give it to McAfee or sign Carson Wiggs.
