Colts secondary is no joke either, so the receivers have to work too.

 

 

Plus I'm sure Davis is thrilled he doesn't have to go against AJ in games anymore.

 

AJ is the one player last season that Vontae couldn't shut down. Those outside fades were incredible. Luck and Hilton had some of those going on last year, too. I hope to see AJ get some of that work moving forward.

I bet AJ is also glad he doesn't have to play against the Colts in games anymore.  Hes 1-5 in the last 6 and what 3-21 or something crazy all time VS the Colts?

Unless injured, AJ will be used in various positions on the field and get plenty of playing time. :thmup: 

I have not heard a peep about Duron Carter.  Any news?

I dont know about that, he still has to play the following people who are probably all harder to cover this year:

 

Percy Harvin/Sammy Watkins

Demarius Thomas.

Julio Jones / Roddy White

Antonio Brown

Basically, any sort of hype that was surrounding Carter died once we drafted Dorsett.

 

Carter has some serious hard graft to put in (which isnt exactly a trait he has shown in the past) to prove that he deserves a roster spot. Before Dorsett was drafted he was almost a lock for either the 4th or 5th spot in many peoples eyes. Now he has to compete with Whalen and Brown to prove he deserves it. My guess is we wont hear anything about him until roster cuts happen and he will either make it, or he wont.

If Carter was a lock for the 4th spot, why isn't he now a lock for the 5th spot? To me, he always had a step on Whalen and Brown, and I don't think that's changed since the draft.

I disagree but only a little bit. Though Dorsett's T.Y.ish versatility makes him a threat in many different areas, I see Carter as more of a "secret weapon". His height/weight/speed combination is something to marvel at and the fact that he won't have an ounce of pressure to contribute immediately goes a long way.

If he can't shine in competition with Griff and Brown then that would be a tremendous disappointment because he is far more physically gifted than either of them.

Yet Carter was a CFL player last year & Griff saw active snaps in the NFL, so I don't understand the disappointment factor...

I find it funny that a guy like Heenan comes in from the CFL & gets the camp fodder label, yet Carter is brought in and gets such high expectations... 

 

I hope both players can put it all together and be productive players, but I just don't get the differential treatment...

 

But for the record I hope Heenan pans out and is a solid back up for the O-line, & I hope Carter can put it together & be a solid receiving/red zone target...

Week 2:

Andre Johnson has given Vontae more fits than any other receiver. And I have to laugh at D Thomas. Thomas is an amazing receiver but Vontae has dominated him more than just about any DB has ever dominated a WR. Also, Roddy White, no.

I feel the same. IMO Carter is more talented than Griff or Brown. It's not been long enough to make an assumption one way or another to see if he is going to take the spot. It's his to take.

I am with you Carter has not done a thing except show he wasn't NFL ready 2 yrs. couldn't ever get it together to play D-1 college ball. He has a history of poor work ethic off the field problems. Sounds like Roger's.

At 6'5 205 I am not sure he's that physically gifted sounds like a bean pole. Remember he's biggest issue not enough the strength beat man coverage.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the PS to add strength. Unless we just carry him hoping he becomes something.

Vincent Brown and Whalen both have done way more in the NFL. If his daddy wasn't Cris he's just another guy at camp.

There isn't a long list of CFL WR's who have made the transition to the NFL. If we keep the best WR's at camp right now I could see Brown beating him out.

I personally have higher hopes for Heenan much more a position of need. It would be great if he's a monster. Don't get me wrong would love for Carter to pan out too but I don't get the expectations
