That point spread still has me puzzled as well. I pointed to, just more people are putting money on Atlanta - that is how it works usually, but I have been hearing different things on that. There are several betting web sites where a lot of people are putting their money on Indy actually.

We have the better team, better QB, better Coach, Taylor and Pittman are both playing, and we have won 5 out of 6 games. Just as a non-biased observer because I get nothing out of Indy being favored, I would think Indy would be favored by at least 3. The home team always gets 3. I think we win by at least a FG. They must know something I don't know, because I do find the Falcons being favored by 2.5 strange.

Good write-up on the shift. “Pro/ sharp money” causing it.

Opportunities.

We didn’t fare well on our last road trip. They saw a 2 point spread and decided to hammer their bets on the falcons either winning or losing by a point. Opening line was 1, which means that some of those sharp bettors likely took the colts early on which pushed it to 2 before more of them went the other way.

Understand that the ones that figured this stuff out can be viewed by one sports book as a “pro or sharp” bettor, while another might view the same person as a giant cash flowing loser. I know someone that bets large amounts of money, on one site they generally lose big, and get comped for all sorts of events, rooms, etc. The other sites, they win big. They utilize the various ones to make repeated bets as part of a hedging strategy that increases their odds of winning, and winning big.

My son plays poker for a living and he has some friends that are associated with some huge betters. They have some incredibly smart people that find the "bad lines." Bottom line is these betters do in fact win. The biggest challenge they have is finding books that don't quickly change their lines when one of these games is "identified." One of the things they do is to "recruit" people who are familiar with bookies and pay them a nice commission to get some bets down from the bookies that are not too sharp and don't stay on top of changing their lines. Not an easy get as after a few weeks of getting smashed , these bookies will stop taking the action. I think we have seen the smart money go against the Colts 3 weeks in a row. Let's hope they go 1 and 2.

I think.the Falcons, along with running the football, will target their tight ends. This always seems to be an area where our defense struggles. Cannot allow Heinike to keep converting on 3rd downs. Must stop Atlanta from orchestrating long, time consuming, drives.

I also hope Steichen, to start the game, does not come out  passing on nearly every down. establish the run early, don't wait till the 2nd half to run it.

I like the plan about running.  I'm still waiting for that first play, play action pass though!!

Dont understand either of these. Does Ethan play special teams? Looks like Ferrara was elevated last week too. So no concern there with Pittman.

With Braden Smith and McKenzie out, it makes sense to have the depth at both positions

Is this for an extra lineman in the run game. Doesn’t make much sense.

Maybe they just want to get him some real reps in case he really is needed in the future.  He's been away from the game for a long bit of time.  I would rather him shake off the rust slowly rather than just throw him in cold.  Just my .02.

Maybe Jared is going to be fullback goal line stuff. Freeland hasn’t done anything to get benched.

Freeland is a rookie playing below average at tackle for the Colts.  If we make it to the playoffs I would much rather have Veldheer backing up Smith.  Assuming he s game fit and in shape he gives us a much better chance at success.  There is no substitute for experience.  I hope he gets in tomorrow just to see how he looks. He hasn’t played in quite awhile so I would bet they want to see him play as well.

He has done nothing to get benched. Jared hasn’t played in 3 years. This is probably just insurance with smith out. Adds some depth.

Freeland is ranked 76 out of 83 tackles.  Raiman and Smith are ranked 6th and 7th.  Huge difference.  Freeland is playing out of necessity.  Even after 3 years I would expect Jared to put Freeland on the bench.  He’s only 36.  If we make the playoffs we could face some serious ER’s.  It would be nice to have Jared on the bench assuming he still has it.

That was the shift in the line, no doubt. It just moved another half point.

we’ll see what Steichen and Minshew are made of. Good defense in Atlanta. Hopefully get the run game going early and utilize tight ends more. Need Pierce and Downs to play big.

No it wasn’t
