I was just on Youtube watching post game stuff and Ravens fans + Lamar and Harbaugh was complaining about the no call on Flowers at the end. Here is my response to that, WELCOME TO THE COLTS WORLD. We have been getting the short end of the stick for years and people don't feel sorry for us and just say we lost. We got a break for the 1st time in 10 freakin years it seems, deal with it Baltimore sexy homer simpson GIF

After the third one the Colts finally adjusted  (that’s at the Colts for taking so long not you) and then the Ravens started using him as a decoy to send pressure from other places which was smart on their part.

It was crazy bc he was getting head on full body shots on Minshew. If that was Peyton Manning he would have been identifying Hamilton and pointing him out before the ball was even snapped. He probably doesn't even get anymore than one of those on Peyton. I didn't understand why we couldn't identify Hamilton and have the hot read ready immediately.

Well some of that was on Minshew not identifying him which lead to well what you saw.

Once we added the extra blocker we were fine. I am thinking that coach probably thought Mustache would pick up Hamilton coming pre-snap. Mustache is good at doing that normally.

It is not her voice that bothers me, it is her favoritism toward a team. In order to have favoritism you need to be employe'd by a team you are announcing for. Like Lamey was for the Colts, Boyle for the Pacers who is an excellent radio announcer.

Well, the first requirement for successful broadcasting is to have a pleasant voice.  Radio voices are usually deep because they are less grating on the ears.  Somehow, she missed that screening.

I have a loud but deep voice, you are 100% correct. Jim Nantz is probably my favorite because he has a pleasant voice but can go an octane up when something great happens, I loved Lamey on radio too. Pick your spots I say.

Shane almost gets an A+, but I still went A because the last play of regulation had me scratching my head. I would have brought Gay out then. Not sure what was going with that?

I’m not sure why we didn’t try a field goal or Hail Mary didn’t have anything to lose.

Lamey's voice was kind of grating, IMO.  It was an acquired taste.  His enthusiasm for a home-team broadcast was a good match.  I don't think he'd be popular in a national/objective sense.

For me, it'll always be Marty and Joe from the Cincinnati Reds. Absolute iconic voices on a warm summer night. All of my friends would play ball in our local field with them on the radio in the background.

Marty was great. He had a rare voice I loved. TV wise, Nantz, Al Micheals, Vince Scully, Dick Enberg, Bob Costas were the Elite.

I don't know how we kept allowing Minshew to get his noodle knocked by this same guy on the same blitz over and over again!

I think Minshew allowed that himself... If I had to bet, he probably was the one responsible for identifying that blitzer and hitting the hot read when Hamilton blitzed...

Minshew was a real trooper for taking those rocket blasts!

Trooper, maybe. More of a "roll of the dice approach" is what I describe it, since we knew that he was the last good QB standing for us out there other than AR. You and I know Sam E ain't winning us that game. Otherwise, we would have had a Nick Foles having his bell rung by the Giants type of situation.

Let us be honest, once it happened several times, it was a question of playing with fire. If I am Steichen, I would keep using a combo of AR and Minshew even when both are healthy.

If and say IF, we win the next 2 games and get to 4-1. We will win the division. Book it. That would already give us a win over Houston and Tennessee at that point.

The remaining division games are the key.  With 4 of those games remaining, gotta win at least 3 out of 4 with one of those 3 wins being over the Jaguars, to be in position to win the division.  Simply put, imho, if the Colts don’t take 3 of 4, they will not win the division and will miss the playoffs.

If the Colts are really to be contenders this year, I think they really do have to win their next two games as well, starting with a home victory over the Rams next week.

They mentioned on the broadcast it was the responsibility of Minshew to call out protections since we had French under center. They didn't want him to have that burden.

Yep. We got away with one, but it was an even game. Not like it was a hold on an INT for a TD where the Ravens offense would have scored and it would have been a 14-point swing hypothetically. We were right there with them the whole game. If anything, we probably win by 10 points if Richardson plays as he could have been much more mobile than Minshew, who didn't run the ball all game (and Lamar did).

This game just reassures me that with AR, we will have high potential as a team. Oh, and Matt Gay is an elite Kicker!

They got away with holding Paye a lot all game. I could post at least 3 plays where he was held to give Lamar chances to make a big play. Like I said - scoreboard. Had we not got that call nobody in here nobody would bring that up except for a few like me, and you know what people would tell me - quit crying you Homer. Great to be at the end of this winning for a change. I love it today The Simpsons GIF by KiwiGo (KGO)

Yeah I was watching the OT portion of the game on TV. Was a bit worried on the Tucker 61 FG that missed where they tried to win it before then. Moss is a beast and is going to be a very good no2 RB when Taylor returns. We won that trade with Hines for him (and I'm not just saying that because Hines got hurt). The defense looked very good yesterday from what I saw. Lots of sacks and forced fumbles. Ekubam and Paye looked solid. Brents had a nice debut game. Was fun to see what they did.

Look forward to watching next week with Richardson. Nice to be 2-1 with a winning record early. Rooting for the Rams tonight against the Bengals. Although they are 0-2, they are still dangerous when Burrow is healthy, and I'd prefer them out of the playoffs.

When Tucker came in, I thought game over. Here it goes again, we played good but lost lmao . When he missed, I couldn't believe it.

I was watching the game on my phone. So I was watching with nfl+. Right when he kicked it the game went out. I thought for sure he had made it. Then I go look at twitter and I was shocked it was short.

I didn't have the game on TV til it went to OT, so I was looking at gametracker. I was waiting for the score change to say final, but it updated with no score change and said it missed. I was so excited! Thought yes! We have a chance! I was so excited that Matt Gay got to hit four 50-yard FGs in the same game! That's a record! That made my day. Love to be happy and brag about my team. That was a boost to my day!

It was online and looked good but was barely short. I just Youtube Colts celebrating win. AR went over to Mustache and picked him like he weighed 5 pounds hugged him, rubbed him on the head and said thank you! Then the guys in the locker room all just tackles Matt Gay saying GOAT haha . This is a team I love already, great locker room vibes. Taylor has to see this and wants to join.

Some of my thoughts:

1) Worst broadcast team ever. Let's just get that out of the way. Why do they have a three team booth when these people have no chemistry? They spent most of the biggest moments talking over each other. That stretch of time from the safety to the end of regulation was tragic. And I bet we get this crew a couple more times this year...

2) Matt Gay with a monster game, out dueling Justin Tucker in real time. Feels good to have the kicker position in great shape, first time since 2018.

3) JuJu Brents looked big, fast, physical, and was all over the field. No doubt he's going to make some mistakes, but this is what I think we can get from a young secondary when they're playing well, and it's why I'm not super concerned with the DBs for this year.

4) Minshew is a really good backup. This is what I've always wanted from a backup QB, the ability to keep the offense on track for a couple weeks at a time, when needed. He isn't spectacular, but he's confident, efficient, tough, and keeps his head on straight.

5) Gus Bradley found the blitz chapter in his playbook. This is a guy who hates to blitz, and he just kept them coming all game long. And he did it because this is the book on Lamar Jackson -- his efficiency against zero/1 coverages with 5 or more rushers is dramatically lower than it is against 2/3 deep with only 4 rushers, and we've known this for more than three years now. Compare this game with what Eberflus did against Lamar in 2020 and 2021. One of my biggest criticisms of Bradley is his rigidity, but he showed some serious adaptability yesterday, and it helped us win that game.

6) I still think the OL is problematic, especially in the run game. We're pretty bad in short yardage, and that's been the case with two QBs and two different RBs. Still need settling at RG, and Braden Smith has been up and down.

7) Zach Moss is productive, but there doesn't seem to be anything special about him. And yet, he's 100 times better than Deon Jackson was in the opener. And I guess Isaiah McKenzie is a scat back?? If JT comes back at 100%, it should be really good for our offense.

8) We got a lot of lucky breaks in this game. I'm not complaining, but I'm also kind of pumping the brakes on some of the 'take the Colts seriously' stuff. Still only scored 22 points with OT, couldn't convert in short yardage, only got into the red zone twice, and Lamar still kind of had his way with us. We have three very winnable games coming up, but the Browns defense looks incredible, so I kind of have that circled as the biggest test coming up.

8 points I can't find one I disagree with, amazing homer simpson GIF

To your point 8 we did play without AR and Taylor. Probably our 2 most important players. Some may not like the Taylor excuse, but he is a top 3 at his position like it or not.

It's a fair point, but then we have to bring up that the Ravens were without 8 starters. And that Justin Tucker didn't save the day like he normally does. And that the Ravens totally mismanaged the clock after the safety. Etc. I also think there's a lot more variance with Richardson than there is with Minshew. He might have made a few more plays, but he also might have turned the ball over or missed a dump off...

I think the Ravens are a pretty good team, but they weren't at full strength and didn't play their best game. So I'm not exactly convinced that the Colts are on their level.

I think we’ll have to beat the Jags in Jacksonville before that is a “book it”. We’ve trouble there for some years now, but I think it’s doable this season.

I also think we need to beat the Titans at least once.

    • I will say this. AR imo threw the ball much MUCH better in his 4 games last year compared to his first 3 this year.  Not even close.   I have to believe a lot of that is due to him being unable to practice much on his mechanics until August or so.  Remember even during spring practice he was complaining of a sore shoulder and had to take some time off.   I fully believe that once he is totally over his injury that he will be able to take the extra reps needed to get back into a way of throwing without having to think so much.   I play a sport at a highly competitive level, won't say which one, but I broke my thumb this spring and I just now am start to get back into the swing of things.  But I am not even close to where I was before I broke it.
    • Do you honestly think the Colts will win a SB, let alone make the playoffs....with Joe Flacco as QB?  I mean are you seriously pining for a 39 year old retread ala Matt Ryan to lead this team????   I am at a loss for that and the only thing that makes any sense is your complete dislike for AR is clouding your judgement.    AR is the future of this team.  He has a high ceiling and with him, and IF he progresses, the team could be a SB contender in a year or 2.  But with or without him there is no way in H E double toothpicks that this team wins a SB this year.  Just not enough ELITE talent on the team.  Honestly the only truly elite player on the entire team as of today is JT.  AR could be.  Not now but could be.   Besides that?  Nobody.  By elite I mean game changing talent.    So you ride with AR, hope he stays healthy and finishes the season, and improves. He makes good decisions for the most part.  The INT in the endzone today was not a good one but for the most part he does.  He just needs to gain experience and technique.    But saying JF should start, when at best....I mean AT BESt ALL HE DOES IS GET YOU into the first round of the playoffs?  Who cares.   I would rather see progression from AR, even it means suffering through a lot of losses, and get a high pick for next year rather than go through a 9-8 season with JF.  Remember the first Manning year he was not good, but he gained tons of experience.  We then got a super high draft pick where we drafted Edge the and we were off to the races after that.   I mean, haven't you had enough of Rivers, Wentz, Ryan and Mishew?  I cannot honestly believe people want to go back to that.   FJ is Matt Ryan PERSONIFIED.
    • One progress I see is that he's finishing games so that's a step. The shoulder surgery and offseason rehab has definitely set him back for a raw guy who needs all the reps he can get. It was reported that AR has a total of 30 something starts at qb INCLUDING hs. Think about that most have that in high school alone. Caleb Williams is the 2nd youngest starting qb in the league and had 33 starts in college alone while winning a Heisman trophy. AR is the youngest starting qb in the league at just 22 but has extreme talent and natural gifts that have to be developed.   I think the staff is doing him a disservice by taking away the threat of his legs (see Lamar) because he is not a pocket passer. I think AR needs a go to TE and the Colts need to rely on the run more with JT until AR catches up from his lost rehab time. Give him some easy short throws to build his confidence before he starts throwing into coverage take the Josh Allen approach.   The biggest problem is that Ballard chose a project in AR instead of moving up to snag the polished CJ Stroud. Most teams move up to get their franchise guy unless they already have the number one pick overall. The reason why it's problem is that the fan base is starting to get restless and the thought of another few years of unfulfilled promise seems discouraging.   Once Ballard chose to sit pat AR was the right choice over the awful Will Levis who was a strong possibility if not for Shane according to Shefty and Will's people. Bottom line is that this will take time. Is the overall team good enough to make a push while AR goes through his growing pains to reach his full potential? I doubt it because Ballard's tenure has been spun in mediocrity at best.
    • Honestly no, but then I didn’t expect to see any progress yet either. He basically lost an entire season and offseason because of injury.    I’ll be more concerned if there’s no progress next season.    What I think is much more of a concern this season is that Steichen’s playcalling seems to have regressed badly. I expected a vastly different offense than what we’re playing and I don’t think Steichen is helping AR at all.
    • To me, this is still his rookie year. When you are rehabbing an injury, you are not getting better at football. He has basically played 7 NFL games with 0 offseason to work on the things we KNEW he needed to work on (hence why he was considered a project QB). I will reserve my judgement for him next year given he has a chance at a healthy offseason.
