Yes it is in a pretty rough part of town. There is some rebuilding in that neighborhood and it might be a nice place. It is real close to downtown and Lucas Oil Stadium.

There is a picture of the house on Redfin. Just punch in the address and you can look at it.

It has been a while since I have been up in that neighborhood and it may have gotten a lot better than in the past. It's one of the oldest parts of the city.

As far as it being a 'villa' I am not too sure of that house being considered that. I could be wrong but IMO I wouldn't exactly call it a villa.

Not sure I have ever been in that part of town but I have only been to Indy for school or sports activities

Yeah, it's right off E Washington St. right where Southeastern Ave comes to an end from the south. It's west of State St right off the I-65 - I-70 spaghetti bowl.

Agreed. That's not a part of town that if be clamoring to stay in,  but there are worse areas. Those worse areas aren't all that far away though.

I am coming up from SC for the Pitt game and reserved a Villa on 215 North Summit Street. My buddy just sent me a text saying he thought this wasn't the best part of town. Should I keep it or look elsewhere? Thanks in advance.

I certainly wouldn't want to stay in that neighborhood. Indy has a fairly safe downtown area, but once you're just a few blocks out of the high rent zone you're getting into some very sketchy parts of town that contribute to Indy being on a lot of lists of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. If you don't want to pay for a night or two at one of the big expensive downtown hotels near LOS, your best bet is to stay in the suburbs, then drive in for the game and pay for parking. You'll save a bunch of money, and you'll still have your wallet and iPhone for the drive home.

Here's a link to a site that lists Indy as the 13th most dangerous city in the U.S.

It's still not up there with Detroit or St. Louis, but it's getting there.

Agreed.

If I were traveling (driving) far enough to need a hotel then I would find something in the Greenwood/Southport area. I used to live there and was only 15-20 minutes from the stadium.

Is this one of the neighborhoods that the hipsters are trying to "gentrify?" Or that still exclusive to North/NE of downtown?

I think it will be a long time before they gentrify that neighborhood, although you can find some that people have renovated here and there. Realtors like to call it "an up-and-coming, near-downtown" area, but it's not anything like Broad Ripple or even Fountain Square. Maybe in another twenty years or so they'll call it "trendy". Most of the houses in that area were built in the 1930s, and some of them boarded up and in pretty bad shape. You can pick one up for under $100K or so, but it would need a lot of work -- and it would still be surrounded by some bad neighborhoods. Lots of Section 8 housing in that area. I participated in some of those corporate "lets-go-fix-up-some-houses-for-poor-old people" work days in that area, and it wasn't scary in broad daylight with twenty of my coworkers around, but I wouldn't want to hang out there alone and unarmed after dark.

Agree with everyone else, if downtown is to expensive for you then I suggest looking for hotels in the Fishers and Noblesville Indiana areas. A lot of really nice stuff to do there and plenty of places to eat/drink. Only about a 20-35 minutes drive to stadium depending on traffic.

    • Roger's could get turned but catch back up before the ball got there.   I was rooting for Flowers especially because up he did run I n the 4.3s.  It is so sad that "intelligent" posters here post endless endlessly that in Gus's D our corners don't need speed.   With two deep safeties any good QB will pick it apart with current rules. Playing single high when they stack receivers the CB on the opposite side is really playing regular old everyday man. Per Pro football Reference Gus" played man 28% of the time. What kind of madness is it to put a 6'2" CB that ran a 4.57 on ANY of the Many 4.3's WR's? This is your plan?
    • I think what happened is Ballard had a list of 3-4 guys he was willing to take on the trade-down. Mitchell was on top of his list. He might have thought because of the rumors of character concerns and poor work ethic that he may fall to 52, and he had a few backup options on top of his board behind him he was fine with. It was probably worth the gamble to Ballard to get two extra 5th round picks since we only had 7 picks at the time and Ballard likes to build through the draft.
    • This was my point that I posted not long after AD was selected. Many have said and are still saying that Ballard was a genius that figured out the 6 picks that followed him trading back in round 2. There's no was Ballard said something like "wow , I can't believe this guy fell to us ." I could take him here but , I know he's not going to be selected in the next 6 picks , so I'll trade back." It's way more likely that he trades up 4-5 spots if he valued AD that much  more than the other players at the top of his board.  I think Ballard did a really good job in this draft but there's no way in heck , he traded back with certainty that AD would be there at 52.
    • Wow!    You're on fire today.   Post after post that are classically you.  Only you have these views.   That’s why these posts are so easy to remember for years.   I’m struggling to find anything to agree with.   Not that you’d care what my opinion is.  I just couldn’t help but finally respond today.   Sorry.
    • Great interview!!   Both the Colts 1st round and 2nd round picks fell right in to their laps!!   Preparation + luck are equal parts of the equation!!
