Track Guy Full NFL 3 Round Mock

Recommended Posts

Kept the trades in this minimal. Tried to only make trades where there is a player that makes sense to move involved. I tried to be realistic in this, and sort of 2 parts predictive to 1 part suggestive. Meaning that I'm factoring both what I think teams should do in, but I'm factoring what I think they will do even a little more.

Trades:

  • 49ers trade pick 2 to Redskins for Kirk Cousins, pick 17, pick 81, 2018 2nd round pick
  • Browns trade picks 12, 65 to Patriots for Jimmy Garoppolo
  • Ravens trade pick 16, pick 78, 2018 3rd round pick to Seahawks for Richard Sherman, pick 26

I'd be fine with this if we took Takk over Lawson, and trade up for Tim Williams. Lamp would give us a top 3ish OL for years. Right behind Dallas and Oakland. Takk and Williams, if they're as good as I think they'll be then our pass rush would be solved for the next 8-9 years.

I don't see how you could pass on Brantley in RD3 though.

Lamp

Takk

Brantley

Thst'd be pretty sexy.

Or....

Conley

Takk

Brantley

We get better at all 3 levels just like that with 3 high end prospects RDs 1-3. 3 day 1 starters IMO.

Brantley has more value to a 4-3 team imo. I know defenses aren't always in base formation, but in base formation he'd be a square peg in a round hole.

Pretty much my AFC South nightmare first round.

Texans get a winning mentality quarterback who should be an instant upgrade on Brock.

Titans get the best cornerback and the best wide receiver in the draft.

Jaguars get yet another exceptional defensive piece who should make an instant impact on that side of the ball.

All three teams take difference makers who should make them instantly better. We take a guard. Think we fall further behind in the division after round 1.

Wonderful effort here! As ClaytonColt said, this is the problem with the AFC South in this draft. They will end up getting much better, and we have to rely on some Luck in the draft (no pun intended), and have a player fall to us, or a trade partner to move down and get another day 2 pick. This is where Tennessee becomes a much more dangerous team in the 1st 75 picks, and if the Texans get a QB that is even average, that will make life tough for the Colts. Something else that may happen is the Jags could take Fournette and have a franchise RB for 10 years that makes their offense respectable and turns them into an 8-8 team that matches up well vs us.

Great effort! Lamp wouldn't be BPA (IMO) at 15, but I'd love to trade down a few spots and get him.

I'd like Evan Engram for the Vikes.  He is a better player than Godwin. I like the 2nd pick, Garcia, but I don't like Brian Hill in the 3rd round. That seems like a reach. Do you think he will go that early in the draft?

Don't forget that the Texans lost some of their best defensive players. Wilfork retired and boyue moved on, so those losses should be evident next season

I don't think Wilfork will make too much of a difference. Bouye will definitely hurt, but it's a CB heavy draft, and I'd bet money they will draft a replacement for him in the first 3 rounds, if not the first 2. They are also getting Watt back, so they still are going to be a big threat.

Wilfork was an amazing run stuffer, and hard to replace, which is why I think he will be a significant loss, but the return of Watt is definitely something to worry about.

I used to be sort of against drafting Lamp, but looking at the prospects who will likely be available at our pick, I think he's easily one of the guys with the highest ceiling/highest floor. I'm all about the safe pick for our 1st rounder.

I've cooled down on a lot of defensive prospects around our area. Reddick, Harris, Barnett. I like some other guys though, basically I'm just not too hyped on the LB's/DL at 15.

Evan Engram could have been a better choice for the Vikings perhaps. My thinking was only that the Vikings can use another threat as a pass catcher, and if there were any solid options in the mid-2nd round range left I'd pull the trigger there since the good O-linemen were mostly gone. But that also describes Engram, so I could've done that.

Brian Hill has some fans out there. I think it was MJD who rated him as the 5th best back in the class (by comparison he had Alvin Kamara as 7th and D'Onta Foreman outside the top 10). I think realistically he's a 3rd - 4th round pick next week. I figured that the Vikings would want a guy who can run between the tackles, and unless I slotted Joe Mixon there I couldn't really think of a back that would fit them better. I was also giving some thought to going either linebacker or secondary at that pick, but I couldn't really think who would be a great fit to compliment their roster and scheme. Haven't watched enough of their games.

3 rounds and the Colts still haven't taken an ILB? I guess Colts are really gonna put Denzelle Good at mike LB.

Don't sleep on a 3rd day player at this position. The Colts have had multiple meetings with Eric Wilson, for example. They might be figuring they'll roll out there with Jackson, Spence, and Morrison, then just add another guy late. It's not ideal, but we can't fix everything Grigs screwed up in one day (I think he really badly mismanaged the ILB position in particular).

Eric Who? That's not Foster, Reddick, or Jarrad (Florida ILB). im just joking but I dont trust Morrison as a possible ILB. He's a hitter but after that...

We do need a RB. Do you like Hill over McNichols or Mack?

Thanks for doing this. In the real draft, I hope the Vikes consider taking more offensive linemen.

Yeah you guys have an obvious need at O-line, but I look at what you've got at the projected starting tackle spots in Riley Reiff at LT and Mike Remmers at RT... I'm not sure in the late 40s you'll be able to upgrade those positions at all in this draft. Now, possibly a good interior O-lineman could be on the board like Dan Feeney or Dion Dawkins, but in my mock here they went earlier. Maybe in real life you'll get luckier.

I like Hill over Mack, and with McNichols I think it depends on what kind of usage you want out of your running back. If you want a pass catching back McNichols is more proven at it here. If you want a between the tackles RB, hill is the more proven guy. I wouldn't rate either wildly far above the other, I'd say maybe a slight edge to Hill but not by a ton.

I don't think Wilfork will make too much of a difference. Bouye will definitely hurt, but it's a CB heavy draft, and I'd bet money they will draft a replacement for him in the first 3 rounds, if not the first 2. They are also getting Watt back, so they still are going to be a big threat.

They no longer have Brocky-Top the Colt Killing Machine Osweiler.  We should be good. 2-0
