Tennessee (-5) at Jacksonville (12-24-16)

1 p.m. EST...Andrew Catalin and Steve Buerlein on CBS

sunny and low 70s (a very 'Florida' Christmas Eve) in Jacksonville.....over-under 43.5

Titan QB Marcus Mariotta (268 of 431, 3,3 27 yards, 25 TDs, 9 INTs) has struggled (no TD passes) the last 2 weeks against Chiefs and Broncos but he's not facing that kind of defense here/

The Old Cowboy DeMarco Murray (268 carries, 1, 224 yards) is the No.2 rusher in the NFL./

Titans have 34 QB Sacks and Jax has allowed 30 QB flatteners........Tennessee defense has allowed 221 passing first downs in 14 games.

WR Richard Matthews has 800 yards on 53 catches

Titans haven't made the playoffs in eight years but they win the AFC South if they win their final 2 games

Jax QB Blake Bortles (317 of 543, 3,279 yards, 21 Tds) and an NFL-leading 16 interceptions and he passed for a booming (12 of 28 for ) 92 yards last week at Houston.

Jax coach Gus Bradley (14-48, worst NFL record in 50 years for a coach) ) will watch the game on TV after he was canned last week following the come-from-ahead 21-20 loss at Houston which 'Pearl Harbored' the Colts playoff chances.././

Jax has lost nine games in a row including the last seven by 10 points or less. They led 20-6 in the 4th quarter last week and found a way to lose 21-20

Jacksonville leads the NFL with 117 penalties for 1,088 yards and they have not won a home game all season.

If the Titans (8-6) lose here,  Houston (8-6) wins the division with a victory at home over Cincinnati Saturday night. Houston wins all ties in the division because they are 5-0 in the AFC South.    The only way the Colts (7-7) win the AFC South is the seemingly nonsensical scenario which would have the Titans lose to Jacksonville (2-12) and then defeat Houston (8-6). With that said, Its not impossible that Jacksonville wins here.  This is the Jax home finale. They just changed coaches and Tennessee has one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Tennessee has scored a total of 32 points in the last 2 games.

But Jacksonville actually should be 0-14....They beat the Colts 30-27 and the Bears 17-16...and should have lost both of those games

I dont know who will play (or will want to play) for the Jaguars Saturday but they've lost six close games in a row.

I like Jax getting five points at home....

Will they win?   Come on. Really? I'd have to see it to believe it.

If the Jags are motivated then it might not even be the biggest upset of the week. We've seen teams respond to this so many times that it's almost predictable (I said almost...Cowboys/Giants, Packers/Chiefs, Vikings/Redskins). The Jacksonville defense is mean when  they want to be and the Titans offense has sputtered as already pointed out. I'll be pulling for the Jags down here in Florida for sure.

Hard to say the Jags should have lost the Colt game. They had more total yards , averaged 5 yards a play , sacked Luck 6 times and had the only turnover with an int of Luck. They also won despite 11 penalties for 135 years. They totally dominated the game until the 4th quarter. I think it would be more accurate to say the Colts laid a huge egg in London but IMO it wasn't a game Jack didn't deserve to win.

,,,..with the Colts game beginning at 4:05......and with Jax throwing their usual 35-40 passes a game...

..the Jacksonville-Tennessee game wont be over before the Colts kick off  will it?

It could be over in the first quarter if you get what I mean.

    • Only if Sheldon isn’t available.
    • Yeah, Ebukam almost looks clumsy next to Latu. He's just so fluid.
    • Did Hou actually get that much better? This really does remain to be seen. I am of the opinion that the signing of Diggs is a signing that has been made about 2 years too late. He won't be bad, but he isn't a top 10 WR in the NFL anymore. I wouldn't put him as any more dangerous that Pittman, so WR's are a push. We have the better RB, Mixon is great and all, but he is not JT. We have the better Oline, and it isn't even close. TE's are a push, we have a lot of upside, but until it is realised im very "meh" on our TEs. QB - I would argue that Stroud is probably more likely to regress to the mean in year 2 vs improve. That rookie season of his was a bit silly, and they had an easier schedule last season too. If he really does build on last year and get even better, then our entire discourse here is probably irrelevant as we will have another Mahomes level QB on our hands to deal with in the AFC and within the AFC South no less. So unless Richardson is also a Mahomes level talent in that scenario, we are done for anyways. To me, our success in this coming season comes down to 2 groups on this entire team. 1. The QB (because... duh) 2. Our DBs. If we even get average play from the DBs, I think this team has the ability to win the whole damned thing (supposing Richardson stays healthy and is what we all hope he is). I would also argue that Houston are paper thin. If they lose a OL starter, Mixon or even one of their starting WRs.... they have a very big drop off. And injuries happen in the NFL. Just sayin...
    • If he wasn’t fast enough or athletic enough anymore for linebacker, then he’s not going to be able to cut it at Safety where speed , quickness, athleticism are even more important.    Wish it wasn’t so….
