My nephew fell in love with them when he and his wife lived there.  I actually think they are his favorite college team. :)  He lived in Fargo.

North Dakota: warm friendly people, surrounded by sugar beet fields in the east, oil fields in the northwest. In between, wind driven snow and below zero temps. I drove 4 hrs from Bismarck to Fargo in snow one night and only met 3 vehicles. Break down and you'll freeze to death before help comes.

They love their college teams!  UND plays unnamed because the NCAA banned the name Fighting Sioux. And NDSU is the most excitement in the state.  I drive a semi cross country. The truck stop is a mile from campus. I go there for walks,( when it's good weather!)

I would love it there....especially the part where nobody is around.  HAHA!

Thornton better hurry up and get healthy. The rookies are Philbins picks.  His availability could be his downfall.  Every practice he misses hurts his chances.  Thornton has had plenty of chances to earn a spot.  Now the competition is much tougher.  We will see.

If Thornton doesn't start,  I think the person who takes the job is not a rookie,   but Good.     He's the guy who is the biggest threat to Thornton.

The rookies will make the roster,  but, other than Kelly,   the ones who play are mostly going to play special teams.     FG's and extra points and such.     Clark's not ready.    Haeg will likely be a quality back-up who can be sort of like Reitz....  he could step into a number of spots is someone goes down.     But it's not ideal for him to play a lot of snaps just yet.        And Blythe will be on the P.S.

Good is the guy to watch at RG.      Appears to be a talented kid....

If he's that pro ready then he should start at RG immediately. We have RT covered.

Isn't Thorton on thin ice though? Too many injuries and subpar play when he is healthy. Unless they really feel losing 20 pounds, playing more zone, and the addition of Ryan Kelly is going to lead to a breakout year for him.

I'm late, but I only said he's more pro ready than Clark, who I think is very raw. Haeg is coming from ND State, and has a lot of work to do himself. But if I had to choose between Clark and Haeg for a guard spot right now, it's Haeg. I don't think Clark has a guard skill set at all, so I wouldn't project him to guard even in the future. I think Haeg can play at least three positions.

As for Thornton, yeah, he's on the bubble, sadly. Between injuries, conditioning, and lack of refinement, he hasn't come close to his potential in three years (aside from one or two really good games). And right now, he's on the shelf with a(nother) leg injury. I'm still pulling for him, but I took my eggs out of the Thornton basket when he got hurt during the 2015 preseason.

I think Good is the lead dog at RG right now.

I like how they have it set up because if it plays out with Good being the starter. He is going to have to play well to keep Haeg off his back.  I'm a big Good fan, but I do think that Haeg will be a pretty good player.  I'll see how my man Good responds to the competition.

The more and more I think about it, the odder I think it is that Mudd is commenting on any prospects.  As far as I knew, he is retired and not working in football, yet he must have scouted Haeg to come up with his opinion.  I wonder if Grigson had Mudd freelance scout to get another respected opinion on those OL he was thinking about drafting...but that would be stepping on Philbin's toes a bit.  I'm stumped!

Is this a real website or more like an Onion publication designed for a sarcastic slant for comic relief? Just wondering...

I've seen better sites in a high school web design class myself. It's not horrible just very low tech & simplistic in appearance.

Everyone is talking about who's going to play RG, when my concern (still) is RT. Reitz will have his hands full and need TE support for the edge if that's where he ends up. It's still too early to judge Haeg and Clark, but there is potential at tackle (L or R) there for both.

Mudd's comments should be a morale boost for Haeg. I hope he takes it and goes with it.
