Your quarterback didn't leave your team to go play with two other ego maniacal guys, win 2 rings and come back to shove it in your face.

As Jules said; the NFL does not revolve around one player the same way the NBA does as the Adventures of LeBron James.

I don't remember Luck being egotistical. Lebron would stare down Jordan when he was at the bulls game and dunk. Somehow..i don't ever think w'll see Luck stare down Montana At a 9'ers game when he throws a TD...

Luck is definitely way more humble than James

Lebron stared Jordan down because of comments made by Jordan about him. Lebron is a very humble person. Luck isn't like him unless your looking at talent, numbers and dominance at their respective crafts. Luck is a quite person and isn't in the media like Lebron is. That's where their different.

He said/he said drama. Who cares anyway? Men stare at each other every day out of pure rage and jealousy over silly things that no one cares about.

And I thought the NFL was the only male soap opera of sports. I didn't think about basketball where everything revolves around LeBron James; The Jason Morgan of the American sports world.

Sometimes it seems like only here, on this website,  could someone give what was clearly intended as a compliment to Andrew Luck and have everyone respond as if they were horribly insulted.

Shaking my damn head......

We're wild ones at times on Colts.com.......

I think it is reflective of just how much James is  hated despite his enormous talent ... he may be the most "me" focused guy in the NBA and that really says something in a league full of divas.

yeah, i get it was supposed to be a compliment.  And yes, Luck may quite possibly end up the most gifted athlete in the NFL with the bling to show for it.  But physical gifts is where the buck stops with the comparisons between the two.  Luck is a way more likable guy than "King James".

"Likeable" had nothing to do with this comparison.

It was all about how a rare, generational talent,  can take an average team deep into the playoffs.

The Cleveland teams he took deep in the playoffs,  and Luck's 3 teams.     THAT was the comparison.

By the way,  James came home....  an athlete who left sunny, tax free Miami, Florida for.....   Cleveland!

He's a community leader.     He encourages people not to riot when Cleveland police shot a child.    He has his own academy for kids to encourage them to stay in school.

To me,  whatever transgressions he made,  he has more than made up for......

Boy, we sure see the same thing differently....

I'm not sure he'd appear anywhere on a "me" focused list of player.    Look up at the post I made to Lawrence Owen,  it's the post right before yours.      None of that strikes me as very "me" focused.     And whatever "me" he has in him,  is channeled toward doing good.....   both for his team,  and for his community.

I think the "haters" still cling to the guy who left Cleveland for Miami and all those championships he was going to win.   Jeez,  that was nearly 5 years ago.     Feel free to get over that.     The guy returned to Cleveland!

IDC about him leaving Cleveland, coming back, or what he has done for the community.  (any top tier payed athletes give back to the community, it is a PR thing)  I agree the guy is physically gifted and very talented.  But he IS egotistical.  and not just when he was younger.  I mean the guy JUST said he was the greatest athlete in sports today.  Anyone who has that kind of head on his shoulders i am not going to care to much for.  If Luck came out and said" I am the best QB in the NFL"  (not even the best athlete in sports) I would loose a ton of respect for the kid.

I don't believe that. I am a huge Lebron fan. Always have been. But his persona is that he is "me" first which is why there is such kick back here I think. That and the fact that NBA is kind of a joke. lol.

The kick-back here is due to the fact that many people here,  once they form an opinion,  that view doesn't change.

Not for anything.    It doesn't matter if there's a Mount Everest of evidence to the contrary,   people here are not big on evolving an opinion.

Disappointing to me.   Sad but true.....   at least, from where I sit....

You honestly do not think him saying he is the greatest player in sports is a "me" thing?

Yeah and I think also the media tends to portray celebrities a certain way and always casts them in that light so it is easy to form an initial opinion and have that reinforced over the over. The media likes its villains and its heroes.

Except the media LOVES LeBron.     They're so over "The Decision"....     they can't get enough LeBron...

He's only the best athlete on the Planet.

By the way,  what's with the concept that the NBA is a "joke"?!?     Where does that come from?

Put it in context of the question that was asked and what's going on in the Finals,  I wasn't the least bit put off.

And he didn't say he's the "greatest player in sports"....     He said he's the best NBA player.     There's a huge difference.

By the way,  I misspoke badly on "he would not appear on a list of "me" athletes....

What I meant to say is he wouldn't appear on MY list of "me" athletes.

Yes, I'd agree he'd appear on a list of "me" athletes,  but he wouldn't be on mine.

Sorry for the confusion....

And I had a very high opinion of Brady before the wells report came out.  I thought he was not only a great player (which he still is) but a stand-up guy.  But my opinion on that last past has definitely changed.  I even went into the report with an open mind and tried to do what pats fans still doing...found myself trying to make excuses and was thinking of counters...but the report just had too much,...and was overwhelmingly convincing.  So yeah..people can change their minds...atleast for me, but there has to be some pretty good arguments for the case.

I wouldn't say that. I think the media likes to point out a lot how he is not Michael. That being said, I think he is going to win Finals MVP even if the Cavs lose. That is how dominant he has been this series.

I was calling the NBA a joke tongue in cheek. I do think its product lacks especially when one of the top players is not on the floor. They have made the game so much about the hybrid 3/4 player that when that player is not out there the game stinks. I really thought the game was much more entertaining when the center position was dominant. All this jump shooting and guys just driving the lane hoping for a foul is boring IMO.

I have never perceived Lebron as a "Me"-type player. In fact, I think he is a unselfish player, especially on the court and he has been criticized for being so. He cannot win in the eyes of a lot of fans despite not having one blemish on his record.

I am not a big NBA fan anymore but when I watch games, I enjoy watching the masterful and unselfish play of Lebron.
