Here's a couple of blurbs about him

Draft ACe

One of the more underrated prospects in this game is Utah center Zane Taylor. He doesn’t have the measurables to be a high pick, but he has a chance to sneak into the late rounds. Given time to develop, he could be a starter down the road.

Yahoo Sports

Notes: Married. Won Utah state championships in wrestling (three), football (one) and shot put and discus (one). Redshirted in 2006. Backed up at right guard in ’07, seeing limited action in eight games. Started all 13 games at center in ’08, tallying 35 knockdowns and 22 cuts. Started all 13 games at center in ’09, posting 16 pancakes and 33 cuts (bowl stats were not kept). Started all 12 games played in ’10, missing the New Mexico game with a knee injury. Team captain.

Positives: Intense competitor. Powers off the ball and plays with aggression. Flashes some violence in his hands. Works to sustain and finish. Good strength — bench-pressed 225 pounds 33 times at the Combine. Good work habits and character. Smart, vocal team leader. The game is important to him. Scored a 30 on the Wonderlic.

Negatives: Sets too tall and is easily knocked off balance. Marginal bend and body control. Clocked the slowest 20-yard shuttle (4.77) and 3-cone drill time (8.15) of any center at the Combine and may lack the agility and quickness to function at center in the pros. Struggles to reach the second level and adjust to linebacker.

Summary: Good-sized, short-area battler with limited quickness and athletic ability and could be best served moving to guard in the pros. Toughness, intelligence and competitiveness give him a chance in a heavy, mauling offensive line such as the Steelers.

NFL projection: Priority free agent.

Clearly our OL will continue to be addressed moving forward. Looks like a good project to keep our eyes on. Since we have so many question marks and our line is just patchwork it will be important to have plenty of bodies to evaluate.

It's especially exciting because Bill Polian has publicly stated that his worst area of scouting if offensive line, but Grigs is a former O-lineman, so it should be an area of strength for him.

Jimmy Johnson kept taking players off waivers that were better all around players, hence strengthening his team. He's not the only one but he felt if his worst player wasn't as good as a player that was out there(waivers) then he needed to strengthen his team by picking that player up to replace his worst. It was a good philosophy that helped build the 90's Cowboys.

Murphy can not play C and another C was needed. Samson Satele was hurt with a minor injury on the first day of OTAs. Zane Taylor played C in college and can take Satele's reps while he heals. These cuts show that Holmes, Murphy, and Eldridge were probably going to be part of the first cuts anyway.

McGlynn can play C

Yes McGlynn can play C but not at the same time he is taking G reps. The Colts have enough players to run 3 sets of OL but with Satele on the sidelines they needed another C to run 3 sets. They could have moved Hicks to C since he wants to play that spot anyway but he has no college experience doing it. The more sets of linemen they run the more reps people can receive and the faster they can learn the offense.

I'd say DT. He has had decent success with DEs. Nothing spectacular, but not terrible

I am not a Polian apologist but lets be honest. He wasn't drafting DTs at the top of the draft. They had a small priority on this team. Not saying they shouldn't have taken one earlier but most of our guys at DT were taken later. He did alright with Mathis and Freeney and did he draft Raheem Brock who was a solid contributer at DE right? I think Moala has been a disappointment where we took him. I think that everyone is going to have a weakness at evaluating one position or another. Polian rarely drafted a DL in the first 3 rounds and usually tried to bring in players outside the organization that had proven themselves like Mcfarland and Simon but those moves just didn't really pan out. He had plenty of other successes but I would say both lines weren't his forte at least here in Indy.

This is important to realize. Many of these moves are being made to give us depth at positions that allow us to run camp. Did we need another QB? NO. But we only had 1 that could actually practice because of injuries and school. So we had to sign another to allow us to run our drills and keep everyone else working. Clearly people that have been cut were in the plans to be cut all along but probably just later. We are making moves right now to make camp work...not really related to roster evaluations imo.
