Ballard isn’t calling plays. Steichen has to go back to those few snaps last season until he develops his passing game. -
Flying up from Texas for this game, been tradition for my group of friends(some Bears fans from Illinois) to attend when our teams play each other reg or preseason. Flight+game ticket weren’t cheap, definitely going to hurt even more if they get stomped again. At least the tailgating will be fun.

But supposedly Ballard was saying that he wants AR to be a drop back passer. Sorry, it was never thought that AR would eventually be a better drop back passer than Stroud. Never. It was that AR could do a lot more than Stroud....like more of a Hurts in Philly. It makes no sense now for Ballard to say that he thinks of AR as a drop back passer. Sure, that has to be a part of every NFL QBs game, but those aren't the words to use to describe ARs future compared to Stroud, IMO.

Why is that, lol? All we have is hope at this point and Allen is the literal schematic for how to do it? AR had ONE dropback in 2020 and 74 (63 pass attempts) in 2021. He had 378 dropbacks (330 attempts) in 2022. 453 total dropbacks (394 total attempts). For referance* a raw Josh Allen had 679 total dropbacks (572 total attempts). AR has like one full season of college experience total. He's not settled yet, but people are judging him like a finished college product when in reality he's a MASSIVE project. He's a schematic for AR and ultimately I believe the Colts will have the same plans for AR. Edit; *More examples: Patrick Mahomes: 1454 total dropbacks (1301 total attempts) Lamar Jackson: 1224 total dropbacks (1004 total attempts) Joe Burrow: 911 total dropbacks (784 total attempts) The reality is AR was a project even in college. Now he's a massive project in the NFL.

AR is the least of my worries right now. He is a young, inexperienced QB trying to play in the NFL. He is going to flash athletic brilliance and follow it with absolutely awful play. To paraphrase Dennis Green, he is who we thought he is. I'm fine with what I have seen so far. I am far more concerned with the awful run defense so far, which was supposed to be a strength.
