Absolutely. You tie it up, not give a hot 49ers team the ball back at mid-field. I'm pulling for the Lions, but Campbell's terrible decisions to go for it on 4th down have absolutely killed this team tonight.

Not to be lost in this Aaron Glenn’s defense has completely melted down.  They mentioned in the first half they were playing situations regardless of how the 49ers lined up.  Then they started trying to match up with the 49ers and Purdy feasted and they did nothing to get him out of it.

To be clear, I am all for aggressive calls especially in this era of offensive football, but you gotta have a better feel for the moment instead of mindlessly sticking to attitude cliches

I don’t agree with that.  Other things happened like the Lions started dropping the ball like crazy, the 49ers front started winning the battle vs the Lions oline and the 49ers started getting off blocks and flying to the ball.  It’s not always that the other team lets up sometimes the other team starts playing better.

It was but why did they only have 2 field goal attempts and why did their defense collapse. It’s more then those two failed 4th downs.

The missed INT-catch was an absolute huge play and one that Purdy was completely lucky on

Momentum is a real thing as you know.

 

Who knows what Purdy does/forces if he’s down 27-10 or the game is tied at 27 assuming those FG attempts are good

      I've talked about where winning teams have their high talent and where the mediocre talent is...for like 7 years.  Cap constraints mean there has to be a priority upon what positions the stars play.  It comes down to passing, protecting the passer, and rushing the passer...most often in critical situations....but consistent positive performance in those situations.  IMO, those positions are QB, LT, impact receiver, and edge rusher (unless you're Aaron Donald).  Its not just the Colts in the PM days, its all NFL teams (with few exceptions, see NE and BALT) that reach(ed) AFCCG contention on a consistent basis.  I mean, just look around and be honest.   The players listed can certainly contribute to a perennial playoff team, and they should be praised for "outplaying" their originally drafted position.  But I would say that finding players like that is what kept us out of the basement and elevated Ballard's record into the .500 area.   Has Ballard drafted a player that another team would consider giving up 2 first round picks for?  Or even a 1st and another pick?  Even the great players on the Colts; Nelson, Leonard, JT, Pitt, wouldn't fetch those prices because the positions they play are somewhat easy to replace with production/impact that isn't much less than what they provide.   Having said that, I like the potential of AR, Raimann, AP or Downs, and Latu, so I'm not a huge Ballard basher like some are.

      What about trading for Kenny Pickett? It probably won't take much to get him. He is young and a former fairly high draft pick. I like taking chances on those types of QBs. (Like Mason Rudolph who may take over for your guy Levis. Others like Darnold, Geno Smith, Sam Howell, Baker, etc.)

      80% of me says Flacco starts. But, i don’t know if that’s true or not. I don’t see how they’d know if he’s going to practice Friday or not.    today will likely determine if he starts Sunday or not imo. If he doesn’t practice in full, Flacco will take most of the reps tomorrow.
