I’m guessing it’s a strip sack whenever the Qb has the ball knocked away behind the line of scrimmage.  Technically you didn’t sack them Bc they don’t have the ball when they are down. Not familiar with the rule so just thinking out loud.

Because it was a strip sack?

Yes the old fashioned strip sack or as I call it the Robert Mathis special.

Wow, Freeney gets no love? He was the best at it before Mathis.

Yes, he does. It just feels like a disservice not to mention Mathis and Freeney. They both were strip sack specialists and Freeney was the OG.

Freeney was the master of the spin move. Mathis the strip sack. It's just how their remembered.

Yep, and they both were excellent at the spin move. It's really amazing we had them both together for so long. We were very lucky.

I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying one is remembered more for the spin move and the other strip sack. You can argue Mathis was just as good with the spin move, but no one remembers Mathis for that.

Dear God it was a joke not a shot a Freeney.  Both were great pass rusher who were great at stripping the ball.  I just said Mathis because I more associated him with it.  It wasn’t a slight of Freeney in any shape or form.

I know you didn't mean anything by it. I was just trying to throw some love to Freeney too. I did not mean to derail the thread.

Mathis was better at stripping the ball, who said he wasn't? I at least agree with you.

Both were great but Freeney was better than Mathis and Mathis was a beast. When Freeney wasn't 100% in SB 44 it screwed us, that is all anyone needs to know.

I remember hearing Freeney was hurt and being pretty sure that was doom for us.  Our defense just could not operate well without both of them healthy.

Paye has the potential to be GOOD!!

Yes, I am liking what I am seeing in him and Dayo.  I think the Colts got themselves a bookend sets of ends.  Put that together with Buckner, Stewart and an emerging Stallworth in the middle and the Colts could have a fierce d-line in the very near future.

I started pounding the table and praying for Paye In January. When they not only got him but then Dayo, who also would have been a 1st rounder, I got really excited. IF and I mean IF they manage to grow together we have the potential for the best DE combo we will have seen in a decade for the Colts.

Rochell is playing pretty good ball too.

Was looking at stats last night and it only showed Kwitty with one sack this season. Finally updated to show two and a forced fumble. I really hope this kid can keep getting better and getting to the QB. We’re really gonna need him if this team has true hopes of making a playoff run. Same for Dayo. I don’t expect as much from him, but I hope he gets a little better each week.

It's counted as a sack because even if you don't recover the ball, like we didn't the offense can not pick the ball up and advance it.

His RB picked the ball up and tried to advance it but the refs whistled the play dead and downed it where he picked it up.

Sacks can get confusing especially the determinations for 1/2 sacks, who gets them and when.

I also believe if a QB steps out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage the closest defender is credited with a sack. I realize it wouldn't happen this way but I'm pretty sure if a QB accidentally stepped out of bounds behind the LOS and the closest defender was 29 yards away that defender would be credited with the sack.
