Jets And Redskins Are Out Of Manning Race

The Jets supposedly gave Sanchez a new contract extension and the Redskins gave up a ton for the second overall pick to get Griffin. So it looks like Denver, Kansas City, and Miami are the front runners for Manning. Just hope its not the Broncos.

Yeah, I figure Denver is 3rd likely because he went there first and it is a outdoor cold weather stadium. I'd love for him to go to Miami

I beg to differ here subvet. Why do so many people rule out Denver? Who cares if he went there first. That means absolutely nothing. Why do so many people falsely believe he cannot play outdoors? Peyton can win anywhere, anytime, inside or out. Forget Miami. Colorado is a perfect fit with John Elway & Peyton Manning uniting forces.

It's funny how so many people think he can't play outside or in the cold. His numbers in the elements are comparable to Tom Terrific, the amazing clutch, outdoor QB.

I think Manning will choose Miami but the easier conference by far would be the AFC West so I still don't rule out Denver and then the Cardinals are in a weak division as well. I think winning the division means the world to Manning because it brings home field advantage and all sorts of things.......... I don't think Manning wants to play in the AFC East, I just don't think he would like that but the allure of Miami might be enough and that's why I lean that way.

The thought of Peyton "uniting" with Elway almost makes me vomit. If it happens, I hope Peyton never wins another game!

I think Manning is finished. He was in decline before the injury. He's done.

How on earth are Colts fans hoping Manning goes to our division rival? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Oh thats right, some fools actually want to see him crush their supposed team.

Because the Colts made their bed and deserve to lay in it. I honestly hope that he torches the heck out of them and teaches them a lesson.

They're not.

It's only the Peyton Manning fans that are hoping he leads another team to crush the Colts.

Never thought he would head to Redskins, there is too much family love & loyalty to compete as division rivals....

Still think he ends up in KC, maybe Miami second, but like KC for some reason. Good receivers, running game, and it is a market somewhat like Indy...

Don't want to see him in Houston, probably great for him, but watching him trounce us and the rest of the division in a Texans jersey would be painful

Bad gross generalization, it isn't Peyton Manning fans because I'm one. It is however a small group of bitter fans that only want the worst for the bandwagon they just jumped off of.

Only proving once again that the Redskins are one of the worst organizations in sports. In three years the Rams will probably be right back at the top of their division, and Griffin will be running for his life on every down with no quality skill players to support him. It hurts to think what the Colts might have gotten for the #1 pick if they had decided to keep Peyton (which would have been my preference - no matter how much I understand and accept the way they've handled this).

Beg to differ. He was in decline in 08, 09, 10. He was hurt in 07 remember. He was not in decline in 07 or earlier. Matter of fact, he easliy should have won Super Bowls in 04 and 05 in addition to 06. (before injury)

    • And when/if a team signs one of those safeties they’ll be made to look like a genius while Ballard is called a fool.    I think what’s more likely is that an injury will inevitably happen and a team will bring in an available free agent. That could be training camp. That could early in the season. You just never know.
    • But if the Colts sign someone next week or the week after then it really doesn’t matter.    I would’ve preferred we sign some two weeks ago.   Get them familiar with the DC and position coach.   But once we didn’t then it really doesn’t matter when.  It just matters that we do it before camp opens.  At least to me.    And the fact no one else is signing these top FA safeties tells me the market just isn’t there yet.   I’m preaching a healthy dose of patients.
    • How about getting a proven commodity in the FA market? I know that assumes the player wants to be here, but money talks and the Colts have some. This D needs a solid center fielder. Simmons fits that role perfectly. If he’s gettable, here’s to Ballard pulling the trigger, even if it’s a slight overpay. The team CANNOT leave this crucial position to players who have consistently underperformed in the past (Cross and Thomas).
    • All - this is the real question.   What do the 32 GMs in the league know that the rest of us (we're on the outside looking in) don't know?   Answer that question and you'll have what you need to analyze the choices made by the leadership of your favorite team.
    • We have the weak secondary where a player in FA can be signed for a year and get a starting job. We also have the money to afford any of them. Not too many other teams have that combination of both factors right now. Also, the draft recently happened and I'm guessing a lot of these teams want to try out their early round picks in the secondary right now. We didn't draft anyone in the secondary until the 5th round. We are somewhat desperate (not to mention Daniel Scott is out for the year again). Other teams are not at the moment.
