Good for him if he does though I couldn't really see him being anything more than a back up, at best.  It will be a mighty effort for him to get back.

Makes a lot more sense now. Up in the CFL, he was added to the Saskatchewan Roughriders negotiation rights list a couple weeks ago. Was quite a head scratcher until this news came up. Maybe there is a chance he accepts a contract up north to showcase himself for the NFL?

Curious as to why he's chosen now to come back. Maybe he felt it was safe to go back into the water now the league is Jeff Fisher free? I always found the way he seemed to drop off cliff ability wise was strange but then again it happens a lot with dual threat QB. 

 

Possible reunion with Reid in KC?

200y Offensive Rookie of the year?  17-11 record after first 2 seasons, with one playoff game appearance (a loss)?

 

Yeah, he fell far, really far, so it would be a huge come back.

Granted his record was impressive given his abilities. His high draft position and ROY award were both unwarranted. Anyone with eyeballs could see he was no NFL level QB

Reports are coming in that he is in contact talks with the SK Roughriders of the CFL. Thought it was a long shot as he declined a CFL contract a few years ago. Guess a few years of doing nothing changed his mind. 

 

He has a very real shot of starting there, as they just traded their QB this offseason despite not really having a good option behind him. Hes not starting in the NFL, but his days as a starting QB might not be over just yet.

I hope he does a good job in the CFL and then perhaps works his way back to the NFL as a back-up.

 

I always admire a good comeback story and would be happy to root for Young to succeed.

He may do well in the CFL. He was a Great college QB at Texas and had a decent Rookie Season with the Titans. When he beat USC for the Championship in 2005 that was a classic.

Wasn't one of his best attributes his athletic abilities?  At 33 those are probably faded quite a bit.

 

I don't see it happening.  Unfortunately with football you have a really small window of time to play.

That would be a good idea for him. If he did well there hey you never know!!

It is a weird situation. He could come in and light up the CFL this year but still never have a shot at an NFL comeback due to his age. The best he could hope for is to come in as a backup in the NFL and maybe play a couple years behind someone. 

The only reason he has a shot at the CFL is because the Roughriders QB situation is the CFL equivalent of the Jets. A few young guys who probably arent ready and an over the hill underachiever who is probably best suited to be a good backup.

Although to be fair he wont be making much in the CFL. Half our players have other jobs in the offseason. I grew up just outside of Regina (where the Roughriders play) and their star DT was a furniture salesman in my hometown once the season was over.

Maybe he finally grew up and now has the ability to guide his gifted physique in a disciplined and productive way.  Only took until age 42...or whatever.

Well its finally official. Vince Young signs with CFLs Saskatchewawn Roughriders. Will need to overtake journeyman QB Kevin Glenn on the depth chart. Good possibility he starts.
