I would love for this guy to be the HC, defensive minded, great personality, the complete package.

Careful what you wish for, "complete package" ...

1 year as an NFL DC...

1 year as a BCS college DC...

a career secondary coach...

This is who we want? He may be bread and butter and he may be...

This is the kind of hire that scares me.... NO HC exerience at all .... ever.

sorry wrong link .. Marv's is far more impressive..

This is the very reason I am leary about a coordinator... because teh coordinator takes a "new" job and no longer does the one that got him promoted...

While I agree, it's not always the case. Payton and Ryan both call plays like before. I hope Pagano would, but there is legit reason to fear.

Anyway u want Tres. with no NFL experience of any sort, Zim or pags. D Cord.s as HC that really stand out, way back, Lombaradi and Landry with NY Giants, Rivera not bad job with Panthers this year. Buddy Ryan with 68 Jets and of course with 85 Bears, not too bad of a run with Eagles, I'll come up with more.

No thanks after review...

Give me Zim or Tress.

Erm...

Irsay, the man in charge of the decision, to conduct several hours worth of interview with him, or Colts community forum member who has spent 15 minutes looking at his experience on Wikipedia.

I know whose decision I'll be trusting.

Then don't cry when Tress is hired... K

People come up with any reason to not like a HC candidate.

"He has no NFL experience, therefore he must suck"

"He's been a coordinator, but not a HC, therefore he must suck"

"He turned a blind eye to college kids getting tats, therefore he must suck"

"He's got funny lookin hair, therefore he must suck"

"Blah, blah, blah".

No matter who we hire somebody is going to have a stupid excuse not to like them without even giving them a chance.

I won't, if the interview procedures deem him to be the right man then who am I to judge?! I've never met him, I know relatively little of how good a head coach he is. I have no right to immediately write him off.

Who knows, he could also bring Lardarius Webb along with him from Baltimore. Webb is set to be a free agent and has made a big impact along with Reed in that Raven secondary. Ravens also have to worry about Ray Rice and Ben Grubbs (OG) in free agency. Webb will probably not be #1 on their radar

Hey guys I've been constantly reading post in this forum for a while, but I decided to create my own account to share some ideas, or questions I have. First of I love the idea of bringing in some Raven's coaching staff member. The Ravens are my 2nd favorite team after the Colts, because of their philosophy, schemes, personnel, Haloti Ngata, and Ray Lewis lol. I would love for the Colts to get more physical and adopt a 43/34 hybrid like the Raven's love to run. I know people are skeptical of Chuck because of his lack of experience in the coordinator position, but the Ravens are really high on him and they think he would make a great coach in the future. Hopefully if hired he brings the LB or Dline coach as our DC. It's time for the Colts to move away from that "Offensive giant, finesse defense" team and become a great physical top 10 NFL defense.

Oh another thing that concerns me is Dwight Freeney, i seriously doubt he would like to move to ROLB, even tho i feel like it would be the best move for him at this point.

Rex is horrible and Lewis...

http://en.wikipedia....ki/Marvin_Lewis

how does he still have his job... folks are on Tress's butt about "standards" ... Do Bengal standards equal ours?

Rex is knowledgeable. He understands schemes and players well. His downfall is his mouth. Marvin Lewis is alright. He had to deal with Ocho for most of his career and Carson Palmer too. Now that he has solid guys like Green and Dalton, the team is doing well.

Lewis not bad consdering the loons he had on his team before. Rex, did take Jets to Champ round 2 years in a row with Sanchez at the helm and improved D, minus is his blabber mouth. Deadpool if that story is from Stampede Blue, that is like reading the Enquirer.

Na, weathers crappy here. I'll hook up my truck and horse trailer.. grab just what you need and load her up! I'll haul it to Indy for free! haha

No worries. Mayflower trucks going to Indy move very well in snow. ;)

Pagano has been around but this is apparently his first sniff at a head coaching job? I don't scour around a lot but

he has a decent resume, in my opinion. I would still rather have him then give Tressell a shot, though. NFL is a differernt beast.

Different mentalities of athletes and schemes. Just say "no" to Tressell's...

It's funny how nobody heard of this guy until now, yet everyone is eager to have him as the coach................. :loco:

Yep, I am convinced half of this board just look at "names" ... ie RAVEN DC... yipppeeee..

or Tressel, NCAA violations.

instead of really looking at a mans qualifications. Of all the potentials so far... Pagano is by far the LEAST qualified of all of them. Yet some "savy" Colt fans think this is exactly what this team needs.

whatever, we shall soon see.

Yup. It seems like the ones I least want are the ones everyone else wants, and are least qualified (Tressel & Pagano)

Rex has divided his own team because of his willingness to let everyone "be themselves"... He is done as the Jets HC. He won't recover.

These Alpha/player friendly types NEVER succeed. And Lewis.. seriously. how many years do you get ot finally make it happen? Heck Caldwell got 3, had a winning record and got fired.

Rex is a Buddy clone, and will never win big. He blew his shot. And Lewis... ???

Mike Brown, need I say more?

John Dee, based on your OBJECTIVE point of view excluding Tres. man, who do you think is the MOST qulaified person to be HC of the Colts?

Honestly put Tress's, Carm, Zimm, Chilli, Morningwig.... line them up and I promis you will all end saying Tress is most qualified for a "SHOT NOW"

Next Zimm.

The rest have glaring faults, or are inexperienced... (Pagano) they should not even be considered.

JMO

I have sat through bad times before... I don't want to do it again, and I hope Irsay nails this.

    • I'm all for doubling down and going EDGE in the 1st again. Just got to make sure we get the right one. Depending on where we draft, I'm okay with trading up a couple of picks to snatch the better pass rusher of the bunch. Since there will be a good amount of rushers, I hear, let's go get the better one. I can also see the draft being the opposite as this years. Most teams will go defense now in this draft, and very good offensive players fall. I think we are perfect on offense, that's why I'm okay with trading up to get the guy we need on defense.
    • IMHO , its all about perspective   If you treat Pierce as WR1, you will be disappointed   If you treat Pierce as a solid contributor, you will be pleased   - The man can block, maybe the best blocking WR on this team - The man has speed - The man can rotate in with our other WRs   I do believe that AD Mitchell will take over as a starting outside WR   The reality is, 17 games is a LONG season,    Pittman and AD Mitchell will be "fresher" for the end of the game as they are rotated in and out   The odds say that there will be injuries, and we could see Pierce be a starter on either side   I for one, WANT to keep Pierce thru his rookie deal (We will see after that)
    • Zach Moss is no RB1.  If he showed signs he was the Bills wouldn’t have traded him for Hines who also is no RB1.  Moss is a RB 2.  A good one too.  Fortunately for him a season playing behind the Colts OL worked out favorably for him. Moss became available because we have an RB1 and the Bengals jumped at the chance to fill a hole in their lineup and Moss can do that like he did for the Colts when Taylor wasn’t available.  He is not a back teams have to worry about like they have to do for Taylor.  Every team needs an RB1.  He was the Bills RB1 for a short time and shipped off to the Colts for Hines.  And they drafted him.  He certainly belongs on a NFL roster.  I wish he stayed to back up Taylor.  But money and opportunity always talks as it should.  I worry about our RB position if something happens to Taylor for a long period.  I think we should be looking for a proven player who would be that true backup you can rely on behind Taylor.  Right now that backup position is a position that concerns me.   The other being starting FS.
