Props to our Defense!

We have to do something in regards to the pass rush. Mathis looks good and I saw a pressure or two from Cole but Newsome I'm disappointed with. Almost like he doesn't exist!

Yeah pass rush is really my only real worry. Mathis looks good when he's in but not really any pass rush but for a play or 2 here or there. We will need a pass rush to beat the patriots.

The first half, pass defense was bad, but the run defense looked good, then Brown went out and Freeman went out, and they completely flip-flopped. The run defense started to give chunks, and the corners shut the passing game down.

The D-line still looks good, DQ had his best game of the year, and McNary/Sio did a solid job in covering TE's for the most part in the second 1/2.

Butler is a nickle back, period.

Vonte made some Pro bowler plays.

and Geathers is definitely a nickle LB'er.

Accountable yes...never have and probably never will say anything about firing someone, not in a position to make that call.

But folks like you really bug me, you're almost to the point of being zealots......oh it will be okay Luck will save us.....oh but we've gone farther into the playoffs every year...oh but our D is doing so much better....blah, blah, blah. This is competition and your graded upon wins-loses not how well you played and as a fan as long as we suck I will complain. Sue me.

yeah how dare I pull for my team and try to see positives. It's almost like I am a fan of them or something...

You guys have to understand we aren't playing to our strengths were playing Zone and then every week a damn CB goes down and if an outside db goes down butler is forced into the spot he sucks at..Toler needs to bring his behind back he's hurting this team a lot

I'm sure he wants to.  But he has to wait to be cleared by doctors first, him doing drills is a good sign though, hopefully he's back by week.

I was not looking at stats. I was looking at where the tackles came from. DQ played well to cover McNary. He played well for just getting back into shape, but it was up and down today while Freeman has been getting an unfair rep the last two games. The run D was better with Freeman in.

Whose gap did Yeldon run through for what should have been a game winning run? uh huh!

    • I guess the simple reply is that whether you agree or not that those guys were starting level corners, they were not available last year. So watching Baker and Brown get torched and saying 'we went into the season with a bad secondary and we're doing it again!' is a misrepresentation, IMO.   If we were to go more in depth, I'd disagree with your characterization of Rodgers. I think he was a solid starting option, and should have been playing more even sooner. And it wasn't until after the draft last year that anyone knew he was in trouble. Flowers was unproven, but I think he was better than the players who had to replace him.    I agree with the last sentence. Assuming nothing drastic happens between now and the start of the season, I'd argue that this year's secondary should be better, just by virtue of the experience that players like Jones and Brents got last year, plus a hope for Flowers to return. And I think that's what Ballard and Co. are counting on. Whether we think that's the best strategy or not. I'd rather see them add a veteran, but I'm not going to harp on it endlessly, and I'll judge the plan on the results, not against my expectations.
    • I like Brents, Moore & Jones but anyone saying we do not need more help at cb is clearly forgetting about week 18. Nico Collins, 9 for 9, 195 yards, 1 TD. Solid depth in the secondary and we would have been in the playoffs.  I am a Ballard supporter but not addressing glaring holes because he "feels good about the young guys" frustrates the 💩 out of me. It has cost us games yr after yr. Steven Nelson would be an excellent pickup for this team imo. He'd provide depth, mentorship & has the ability to play at a high level if/when needed.
    • Pretty predictable really because eventhough they are short handed, they still have good players, were at home, and beating them 4 games in a row was asking a lot. We will be ok and close them out at home on Thursday.
    • ? Correct me if I'm wrong.  Are you saying Raimann was a waste??
    • I think Ballard targets a CB in next years draft as well.      As for veteran DB’s….  I suspect the Colts will sign a veteran like Rodney McCloud.  Someone willing to play for close to the vet minimum plus incentives.      But if we want a top level free agent DB like Simmons or Diggs or Gilmore, then I think we will only be able to afford one.  I don’t think we will be able to afford both.    Just thinking out loud.
