Saints Safety Jarius Byrd tore Meniscus, to IR

I don't really remember your thoughts on him, but a lot of people wanted him.

I was one of them.  Just didn't want to pay the $12 million that he eventually earned knowing we would have to sign Vontae to a big deal, too.  But most of the conversation revolved around what a safety brings to your defense and how you'd be better off spending big money on a player elsewhere on defense - i.e. pass rusher.

No way was he better than Keenan Lewis.. he's acutally been horrible this year.

Keenan Lewis has been playing pretty badly this year. Look at him against the Browns Andrew Hawkins was all over him that game. And burned him to set up the winning FG.

Ah, yeah, I think we needed to get better closer to the ball -- and still do, by the way. Hard to swallow paying a safety that kind of money, unless you're already really good up front.

That Byrd is now hurt again is just a coincidence.

That was my thought of course he would be a nice player to have but not for that kind of money. It just seems that big $$ FA signings go south for one reason or another. It just isn't a good way to improve/build.  Too bad for the Saints and Byrd. I hate to see anyone get hurt.

Well, he wasn't playing very well before the injury either.  Could have been due in part to his injury, we may never know.  But it certainly supports the point that if you aren't good up front, it doesn't matter if you have a HOF secondary.  QBs with minutes to throw will pick apart any D.

We let Malcolm Jenkins go who didn't do anything for us, so far this season he has 3 interceptions in Philadelphia.

Saints have a history of not using players correctly and then letting them go only for it to bite us back in the butt.

I argued vehemently for us to sign Byrd....and Keenan Lewis the year before that.

(please hold your laughter)

Keenan Lewis is solid. Would've been good to have Vontae & Keenan but Toler has started to come on and be the CB he was expected to be when he inked his name on that contract here

    • The Colts handed Taylor a boat load of money which is unheard for a running back in today’s NFL.  You don’t do that and take him off the field in crucial situations for Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson.  Shane has done just that in two of the last three games he’s coached.  Not playing maybe your best offensive weapon for a whole fourth quarter is criminal.  Shane is trying to be too cute and over thinking things trying to fool other teams and it’s not working in the slightest.  Play your best players at the most critical points of games.  That’s why you paid them.
    • People come up with the strangest over reactions ever when the Colts lose.
    • I agree 100 Ballard time is up , him and Bradley. You can preach accountability and retain Bradley another year….Ballard loves to say guys just need to hit the layup… he should take his own advice we all knew we needed help in the secondary this year no moves, we all knew we needed help last year at corner , oline year before. I talking about obvious weaknesses media calls him out on it year after year and he plays it off like he smarter than everyone then admit mistakes at the end of year and does the same thing. Bradley doesn’t make any adjustment like he runs what he runs and that it
    • To be honest this is malpractice by Ballard ….. like I know they think us fans are stupid but some of us played sports , coached sports , watched sports etc… we know what we are seeing like everyone knew we needed depth in the second. But Ballard doesn’t bring vets in and makes guys compete for a job he hands them to players he thinks are nice people a deserve a shot. Ala Pinter, NFL is a league where you get what you earn ,you eat what you kill , not what you deserve. Ballard need to take a hard look at him self at look at how other teams that win are built. We need speed at the corner position and a scheme shift. Like no HC under Ballard has been able to pick they DC he normally has one before they get hired and they retain Ballard guy
