David Reed: Bad kick returner or worst kick returner?

He is a good returner. We haven`t been having 3 defenders running free thru our blockers like they are doing today.

 Of course it is time to adjust even tho he was aware we really need a good return.

He needs to be released unless they see something in him at WR at this point.  Some of this goes on coaches at some point the Special Teams Coach has to go over to him and say I don't care what you think you see take the knee and if he doesn't you bench him.

Yes, and this was the first time I've ever left a game early.  I didn't even want to go in the first place.  I was already having a bad day before the game.

Reed needs to be cut henkn the team to return kicks but he cant even do that I rather have Vaughn at least he never runs out

Reed is a terrific kick returner, so long as he downs it in the end zone every time.

I loved Pagano's reaction.....   he came over to the kid clapping his hands and patting him on the head....

 

Pagano is a player's coach....   he doesn't want his players getting too down,  nor does he want them afraid to make mistakes.

 

He wants them playing fast and loose.....

We should always take a knee! He is not fast enough to take it out of the end zone. If TY Hilton was back there, I would support the decision to bring it out. Reed should take a knee or sit on the sidelines.

The Colts need to cut him. the only reason we are keeping him is because we traded for him!!!

 

Let Brazill, J.Brown or Asante return kicks. You could pick up a free agent off the street that will do better than Reed

 

The issue is when was the last time we had a kick returner that was worth while

 

We have seen rare glimpses over the years but the Colts cant seem to find an Austin, J. Jones or G Arenas

 

That is why every year we have one the lowest return kickoff yards!

Who in the Hell is Reed? This pathetic player screwed us over soooo bad today. He never once made it to the 20 yard line today. Each and every time he returned it he was a pit of disgust. Did you see that the one time where he didn't return it we got a TD???? I know I did. He needs to be cut ASAP.

He needs to down it in the end zone a lot more than he ran it today which is what frustrates me. Other than that, it's the bad blocking that hurts too.

Reed is just a guy who was going to be cut by the Ravens before we swapped with them.

He is still just a guy or less as a WR...he should not be on the 53...and if we can't get anyone better on the 53, we are in real trouble.

To be fair, Reed is just one small problem among MANY problems...likely too many to solve.

If you need the crowd to tell you are making horrible decisions as a returner when you keep going down inside your own 10 you are already in too much trouble for the crowd to be able to help you.

Mine was just a point to build off your point and point out just how bad Reed was today.

Looking at it from Reed's point of view... if your only job is to return kick-offs, you want to make something happen to justify your position on the team.   I'm sure he feels pressure to return the kicks from deep in the end zone even when the best thing for the team is to take a knee.  I don't know how useful it is to have a kick-return specialist when most kick-offs are going deep into the end zone these days.  Seems like a waste of a roster spot.

It wasn't his only job he was playing some plays at WR as well. 

 

With that said his first job is to not hurt the team and not getting to the 20 is failing at that, getting back to the 10 is grounds for being released.  In fairness to Reed one of those returns was on Boom Herron not Reed.  That tells me the Colts coaches need to do a better job of saying take a knee.
