My viewpoint from being at the game last night

It was a great game, the atmosphere at Reliant was amazing. It was my first game and many of the Texans fans I talked to down there were classy, friendly, and loyal fans. There were a few just like in any fan base who heckled and hurled cuss words my way (while my 8 year old Texans fan nephew was right beside me), but I don't consider them true fans, they were the first to leave when we took the lead. That's my stadium/game experience part of this.

For the game, I don't know what was happening early on. Our special teams during the first quarter were horrendous. If it weren't for Pat being quick on his feet and recovering the blocked punt, and still being able to kick it away, I think it would have been a completely different ball game.

I think Case Keenum may be the rival of Luck in the future. He looked like the real deal, and there was definitely some magic to him.

Andrew Luck...What can you really say about him? He's clutch, strong, and durable. It started off rocky for him, but if we ever get a real o-line around him, watch out.

That said, we need some help majorly on the o-line. Having Donald Thomas back next year will be a big boost I hope.

I thought Donald Brown ran hard, I like seeing him play with a fire under his butt. I still want to see more from RIch, but he looked decent in the passing game other than letting up a big sack. He definitely helped in the 4th with the awesome screen play.

I still think maybe we should have made a low key move to get a receiver or something. DHB had a couple chances to make huge plays and didn't. Brazill was non-existent. Fleener's 2 point conversion catch was beautiful. T.Y. is a baller, of course (note to self, don't do the T.Y. td dance in an opposing team's stadium). Griff looked okay to me. Still not sold on him, but I think he can be reliable given more reps.

Defensively, I don't understand us. Sometimes we are a lockdown team, other times, we are picked apart. That has a lot to do with Keenum's ability to extend plays, and also with the o-line that the Texans have. When we shifted to a cover 0 we shut them down, just wished that it had happened earlier in the game.

I love our resiliency. I never really panicked when we were down 21-3, I just had that gut feeling.

My favorite moment from the game was seeing Reggie being a part of the coin toss. I can't wait to see him back on the field.

Keenum certainly seems to have something going for him. His scrambling ability is going to offer him some good opportunities.

However, from what I saw last night, and admittedly, I missed the first 1 1/2 Qs, a lot of his success was on plays similar to Flacco's SB run last year. Chuck it up for grabs, and let your bigger WRs make a play.

It is game 2 for him though. He's got plenty of time to develop.

Unfortunately, he heard some. I explained to him that low IQs and alcohol don't mix, and that being a good fan does not mean that you have to act like a fool.

The real life experience will go along way towards illustrating proper behavior in public. If you want to yell obscenities stay home like me! lol

Not particularly. I paid good money for my seats, I don't mind decent heckles, but sitting through the game while he's yelling "F*** you" a few other things that were very off-color, got under my skin. I wouldn't have minded some jabs, heck, I welcomed them. I know alcohol can make the nicest guy turn into a jerk, but the fact that my nephew was sitting right there ticked me off. I actually was going to ask him how he felt after the game, but he left right before we T.Y. got his 3rd td. Like I said in my original post, he was really the exception to the rule. Many Texans fans came up to me after the game and shook my hand.

To answer your question, I would hope that our fans would reflect the values put forth by our teams owner, and treat other fans with respect. Friendly jabs like "Luck throws like a girl," and the such make the games more fun. I've never been to a game in the LOS, but I'd personally be embarrassed if our fans acted like that. At the end of the day, we are all fans of a great game. We live in a country that allows us to enjoy the freedom to attend the games. There's really no reason to assault another teams fans verbally or physically. It doesn't make you a better fan. It makes you a jackwagon.

Sorry that a few ignorant so called fans put a little damper on your night. Times have changed, you don't have to put up with that anymore.

They make an announcement before Colts games that profanity is not acceptable, and you should talk to an usher. They'll escort them out.

We need to give our receiving crew a little time ( and Luck) to get used to playing sans Reggie. They'll be fine once roles are defined.

like this post.  agree with you regarding sometimes a lock-down team and other times not so much.  But for sure this Case Keenum is going to be a super-star down the road.  he is a magic mushroom, diamond in the rough, prodigy, and Midas all wrapped into one.  To think this kid is so young and that he will be in our division for soooo long makes me just a bit ill   -- i was like, where did this kid come from and then they told me, and of course, he will be cherished by the Houston fans for years to come.  It's not very often that you find a kid like this, (who just knows how to distribute the ball), who can run if he sees an opening, pass a long floater, throw a rocket, loft a soft touch shot, and just generally disrupt anything our defense was trying to do.  pretty remarkable kid.

From what i have read of their forums, those ones cursing are the typical Texans fans.  Holy smokes man.  Their NINETY THREE page thread on the colts game was ridiculous.  I just happened to be thumbing through it and at first they are all about their team and talkin trash about the colts, and saying how our D line and mathis cant do anything.  Then as soon as the tables turned it was whine about this whine about that, this is nonsense, cursing at bullock, cursing at calls.  If i remember correctly, Mcafee got straight taken out and there was no call there, they didnt mention that one.  I saw Mathis get held NUMEROUS times as well as a facemask when he beat his man. I saw numerous Non-calls with their guys hanging on ours, as did the commentators, but they want to gripe and moan for the TWO that actually did get called saying they were nonsense calls that are normally not called.  And holy crap did everyone blow up about the roughing the passer.  One guy even said:

"If he didnt want to get hit, he shouldnt have threw the ball."

Wait WHAT!??.  How does that work?  So he shouldnt get hit if he has the ball, but should get hit after he threw it?!  Does these fans have any sense of the game of football.  When they are winning they are guru's on the rules, but when they are losing, well all the refs are wrong.  I will admit though that the refs that we have now, in all games, seem to be worse than when we had the lockout at times.

Like, i even have a guy here who was the same way.  Talking mad smack when they went up by 7, talking mad smack at the half, and then complaining about EVERYTHING in the second.  So its not like it was just in the forums where people feed off each other...its really how they are in Houston.  (Hes from Houston too btw).

I love the deadspin arcticle on them from earlier in the year.  You cant be a real fan anyways when you havent even grown up with them.

haha that's exactly what I was thinking, Flacco type "chuck'n grabs." Just heave it up and hope your WR makes some kind of a play. Risky, but if you have WRs that can make those plays, why not. Good stuff.

lmao if you're going to use "so and so throws like a girl" as an insult now a days, you might as Well just keep your mouth shut. A baby could come up with a more offensive phrase in the heat of the moment.
