Smonroe
We were talking about it in another thread - 3rd down conversion - Luck is leading the league. That's a huge statistic.
OffensivelyPC
Ha, before I saw who posted the article, I was wondering how long it would take to get shutdown. A lot of those numbers are surprising. Not because I didnt' think we could achieve them, but it's just odd that we see our teams being ranked pretty high in the run game and on defense. DalTXColtsFan
I *still* believe that of all potential winning strategies in the NFL, you give your team the best CHANCE of winning a Super Bowl if you build a team that can run the ball and stop the run. We're halfway there, and so far our ability to stop the pass and convert on 3rd downs has covered up our susceptibility to get gashed by mobile QBs and tough runners like Lynch. Still 12 more games to go to get the run D fixed.
cbear
I have to admit, I'm a QB guy and I don't like that passer ranking. I know why it's that low and we're winning and all of that, but still....

Gabriel Alexander Morillo
Poor Luck. Im surprised hes not top 3 in qb rating stuff. The guy is so efficient and clutch. Also that run defense statistic scares me alot. Such is life when you beat the 9ers and Seahawks but than lose to the finnies.
Larry Horseman
Luck and the Colts O are top of the league in DVOA. Also high in 4th quarter, 3rd down, yards per drive, time of possession, and points per drive.
Warhorse
Points allowed is the only meaningful defensive stat to me. Playing Wilson, Pryor, and Kap will lower your rush defense numbers. Watch the defensive yards allowed decrease as we play more pocket passers.

Since you asked.......I'd like to get a win, have Luck not being beat up and throwing for 3-4 TDs and 250-300 per game. Yes that's a fan talking! And before anyone says anything, I am very happy with how this team is playing and winning!

I know why it's that low and we're winning and all of that, but still.... the numbers don't mean anything.. luck is playing a lot better than last year - eye test.. and he is winning us games.. and thanks to improved defense and run game, he doesn't have to do it on his own this year.. that's something to be very happy about.. Coffeedrinker
More worthless stats. According to the Aikman Efficiency Ratings: The Colts have:The #2 Offense with a 93.4The #14 defense at 74.0The #4 combined at 167.4Actually I don't think the AER is worthless, I think his formula (while not the end all be all) has a lot of merit and a better indication of a team's effectiveness than yards or even points. Stats and ratings are all trumped with wins.
Blueblazes
And actually the QB rating is a good measure. The basics of it, simply put are about equally weighing 4 factors---% complete, yards per pass attempt (not completions), % TDs, % interceptions. The more you know of it, the more it makes sense. Yes, as in everything, there are mitigating factors and of course, winning is the bottom line, but in measuring individuals, not teams, the QB rating is pretty good. Danfish98
Couple thoughts here. First, you should post more DalTX! I'm a long time lurker and you're one of my favorites from back in the day. A second, more on topic, thought is that I think the defensive rushing numbers are skewed too low by the mobile QBs we've faced so far and the pass D is too high because we've faced mostly teams with very little wideout talent. I expect the overall defensive numbers to look similar by the end of the year but rushing D will look better and passing D will look worse.
