I dunno it makes sense for Welker to become a free agent. He can still continue to work out a deal with the Patriots but he's waited like 7 years or so to become a free agent. Its just called being a prudent businessman.

If Welker does not sign today with Pats he is gone. He will sign with another team tmr.

Wes will find, in my opinion, that no other team is going to pay him more than what the Patriots already have offered him.

 

Unless he finds himself catching passes from P. Manning, Rodgers or Brees, he would be foolish to leave the Patriots and Tom Brady.

 

I'm not saying Wes is just a product of Tom and the Patriots, Wes is a warrior and would be very good elsewhere but he has certainly benefited from playing with Brady.

Seems like Welker is trying to show the Pats he's worth the price he's asking for.  Look for a team to become close to signing him, and if the Pats feel it's reasonable, look for them to swoop in and sign him

With Boldin getting 6mil, I can't see Wes getting offered more than 8mil from any team. Not at age 32. Reports from NE is that the Pats are offering a 4 or 5 year deal at 8mil a year. I just hope he does not go the Branch route and leave for literally a million more a year and then fade into oblivion with the Browns or Chiefs who are realistically probably the only two teams who would pay him more than the Pats.
