Yeah, we don't have Peyton Freaking Manning at QB for sure and I don't want the D to go back to the Ron Meeks days of slow death. So, expecting AR to bear the burden of not only scoring but scoring slowly to keep the D fresh is not a fair burden to put at this point.

Like Peyton used to say "my job is to score points", and that should be AR's job, purely. The D has to hold its own weight by getting off the field more often giving AR more chances and a greater margin for error so that even if he has a turnover, he gets enough chances to redeem himself. QBs like Big Ben, Flacco all had that margin for error with their Ds their first 5 years in the league. Once AR has a few years under his belt, it is fair for us to expect him to have mastery over more aspects of the game

I didn't do the numbers specifically, but I did the Elite-Bad ratings based on PFF's numbers if that's what you're thinking of? @w87r did the weekly PFF numbers they posted on their site.

Well you got to give it to the defence. At least they are consistent year after year after year.

Thanks for posting, how did Latu perform?

Laiatu had the 17th-highest win rate in Week 1 out of 134 eligible pass rushers. Very encouraging for his first game, even if it didn't show up as a sack for him.

Last year we had the sack numbers, but we had terrible pressure and win rates. It's only a matter of time before those pass rushing wins become sacks; or teams can double him and the rest of the line can eat.

Colts reddit has all of the PFF grades posted. I'd link to them but I'm not sure if we can link to reddit

Well...  So far, it's consistent for Gus's defense with the Colts.  They were 28th in 2022.

However, Eberflus's defense was 9th in 2021, 10th in 2020, and 10th in 2018.  (With a 2019 blip of 18th).

There's a reason why teams were looking at Flus for a head coaching position.

Remember when he was the whipping boy.  No patience on this forum.

He was the whipping boy after 2022 where none of the line played well. I believe most of the complaints then were that we needed to bring someone in to compete with him. Nothing wrong with not wanting to hand out the starting RG spot.

For every success like Fries you also have your Sam Tevi's, Matt Pryors, LeRaven Clarks, Ben Banagou's, and more. Sometimes it just dosnt work out, and that's OK. People are going to talk about it, and that's OK. There's times we arnt correct about it, and that's OK. Nobody is hurt by the statements. Stick and stones may break our bones, but words will never hurt us.

Patience is a virtue.  They were banging on Fries right out of the gate.  Not all players will work out and all players do not develop the same.  We all know that.

No surprise, but these are some low scores. I hope the people who say that CB coverage doesn't matter that much in this system if the pass rush is adequate are right.

You're right. I'll admit to being one of them that complained about Fries. In these situations I'm glad to be wrong.

I don't think the criticisms at the time were unwarranted though. Mine being someone should of been brought in to had him fight for the spot and make him earn it. Us all knowing that not all players work out should show a line of thought of not putting all your eggs in one basket when building a roster.

And, that's not even what I was referring to. Try using the awe inspiring reddit search function (key term is "PFF"!).

These numbers for the oline are just insane, especially because Bernhard and Braden didn't play as well as they should have. I'm so impressed with Fries.

    • taylor is getting game changer money, why not see if he can change the game? does shane over manage?
    • He isnt Christian McCafferey, but when he has the ball in the open field he is very dangerous.   What happened Sunday was Taylor missed a block and dropped a pass and Shane tricked himself into thinking it was a good idea to take his best player out, despite the fact he was playing very well and use 2 guys who I have literally never seen make a single play that has impressed me, ever.    They should have to earn the right to be in the game in the 4th quarter by making plays when they get opportunities earlier in the game. They arent doing that and are just being handed the keys without earning it.    Honestly I feel like Shane should be taking more heat than he is. He did this exact thing in the Texans game last year. Taylor was destroying them and he took him out and put in Goodson.   It made no sense then and it made no sense last week.
    • we are among the leaders in yards allowed and turnover give a ways. not good!!!!!
    • Interesting perspective you offer….  Considering a number of posters believe all Ballard says every year is “my bad”.    Doesn’t that mean he’s admitting he’s wrong?
    • That would require Chris Ballard to essentially admit he was wrong.  I honestly think he has too much pride for that.
