I was actually thinking the media, but pick your poison.

There is a lot of truth to the concept of not true.

No one knows what the Hell is going on anymore. So much nonsense out there across the board.

Here is the clip. She says she thinks closer to draft. Ballard can’t wait that long.

What does Diana say, in short? I can't play or hear the audio now...

How does it vindicate what Destin Adams say? Because she almost was going to send out that the trade is gonna get done soon? If so, both were wrong that the trade is not any close, and their sources weren't accurate.

I don't think it's realistic that trade was about to get done, and suddenly they hit a snag. And, at that exact same time just before the snag, multiple reporters got to know that trade was close?

That too from the Colts organization you guys generally are proud that Ballard makes sure information doesn't leak mostly?

How does it all happen? Realistically, it's not possible to only know when the trade was so close but they didn't know anything about the snag.

Agreed. Chris has always maintained his position of waiting until after the initial feeding frenzy before going on the attack.

I'm not saying I always agree with this approach, but it's just how he always plays it and will continue to play it.

It's possible Colts could wait for Sneed situation until the draft and go ahead with other signings. Go ahead, in the sense, Ballard will take his own sweet time to get other free agents in next weeks, not days. Or whenever things work out in each  scenario.

I will also point out that just because, Colts didn't have to go over the cap so far and didn't restructure in the past to create more cap space, doesn't mean that Ballard will never do so, as Stephen Holder implies.

If a GM says, "I will never restructure players' contracts and push the can down the road on certain players, to create more cap space", either that's not a good GM or he doesn't have a great capologist in the organization.

Ballard hasn't done that in the past because he rarely signs many free agents, especially expensive ones, and he didn't have great players at premium positions (QB, WR, EDGE, LT) or many players at these positions getting Elite money at the same time.

But, that wouldn't be the case with Richardson getting second contract, by which time there could be a top edge or WR or OT also gets into second contract, and Ballard will definitely have to do some cap tricks.

It can be done easily now, by extension / cut / restructure, to clear space for Sneed. Unlike Stephen Holder says, Ballard can this year re-sign all the players he wants AND pay big money to Sneed as well. It's always possible.

The question is whether Ballard really shies away from doing so?

She said she was ready to fire off the tweet sneed had been traded to colts or titans. Thrn something happened. It’s looking like sneed had been offered a deal to stay in KC so he had a choice to make.

No she’s too busy carrying Destin’s water for him because he can’t be wrong despite as someone else pointed out this is now the third time he has been wrong.  I believe she needs to follow her own advice and just stop but she won’t and that’s her right.

You think all the elite to mid level analysts are missing on info that some blogger named Dustin and his mysterious Twitter source ( who has deleted his account) are finding out before they do?

I have to admit I was surprised when he said no discussions.

I wasn't.

Its just not Ballard's style to sign big money FA's.

I think if there were any conversations it probably went like this.

Ballard:  "So Sneed what kind of money are we talking ?"

Sneed: "Mr Ballard, I'm looking for a 3 year 75 Million dollar deal".

Ballard: "Ok thanks for letting me know"

Ballard hangs up.  "CLICK"

I'm not sure he'd hang up like that. He'd probably be more inclined to be like

"well look. I think you are a hell of a football player. That's a little high for us, but we wish you the best...."

Click.

Personally, I don't put a ton of faith in Schefter's comments. Time will tell what the actual truth is, but I find it hard to believe multiple people had the same reporting of progressing trade talks, the Colts haven't made a single move since those talks supposedly began, and suddenly Shefter (who hasn't had any reporting on this so far) says that the two teams never had a single conversation with a smug * grin on his face.

There's always the chance that Destin  was fed purposefully incorrect info and things weren't as far along as reported, but I don't buy what Shefter is selling. You're telling me our front office never made a single call to ask about Sneed? I don't buy it.

Now Shefty says no talks went on. I have never seen even in national media so many different reports. I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on.

Where did Schefter say so?

I don't find any such tweets from his timeline in X?

Ha.. this is absolute.

There are a whole lot of smoke and mirrors going on in the Colts organization at any given time, you can be sure. Jim Irsay is the Master Ring Leader of the circus. I've said it between once and a million times on here. Just pay attention and you'll see how he manipulates things. Ballard is very good at it too, which is why he isn't going anywhere, in my opinion.

From the outside.   Yes it looks that way from the outside.   But I’m sure it’s very different from the inside.  There’s a plan, and a series of backup plans.

I hope no one actually believes that there was no conversations about sneed lol.. like no way all these reports were out and everyone and there mother talked about there was definitely talks, now Shefter wants to finally come out and say there was no conversation? Not buying it.

For what it’s worth….   Ballard doesn’t have these conversations.   The Colts cap specialist Mike Bluem talks directly to the players agent.   Ballard and the player are typically kept out until there’s a deal.

Are Colts fans believing every lie they hear ?

Some are.  Others are screaming being skeptical but it’s not going over well because it’s not news that some want to hear.

Even if that was true, which it’s not he broke several free agents staying with the Colts last week, Holder who is connected reported the samething.  This is wannabe twitter insiders having each others back.  Again who do you trust Schefter or someone on twitter?  This place would be a lot better off if we stopped treating the latter like they are legit reporters.  They aren’t.

Another reason why I know we have had talks is because why haven’t we signed anyone then at CB or even safety? We are at a need at these positions but haven’t gotten anyone? Just weird to me we wouldn’t have signed anyone else if we weren’t actually in talks with sneed.

It’s week two of free agency not the start of training camp.  Give it time.

Also, I know people don’t want to hear this but I don’t think Ballard feels the corner room is as bad as some think.  They have three young corners they like plus Kenny.  Yes safety needs work but that could also be addressed in the draft.

Also, maybe they did kick the tires on Sneed and decided yep nope.  It will take a little time to recalibrate from that and adjust their focus.

Yes week 2 and all the CB that we should have went after are gone.

In your opinion.  You aren’t the general manager.  Ballard might have a different opinion than you.  Who knows maybe he has one he loves he’s targeting at 15 in the draft.  There are going to be a lot of good ones there.

Also, the corner market really just started moving over the weekend.

So uh what other free agents are we looking at?

Too soon for this?

We as in fans?  I assume the same safeties we’ve been mentioning.  Some corners as well.  People haven’t really focused on that because of all the Sneed stuff.

As for the Colts?  No idea.

    • I almost spit my coffee out reading this a few times, lol!  I love sarcasm and I especially love it when there is some truth to it!  Well played Sir!
    • I guess the whole question is the merits of the report. You report on his diabetes with tons of guesses and speculations and WITHOUT taking the side of the person who's been affected here and who's living and dealing with that condition. You report on the player being uncoachable WITHOUT taking the opinion of his coaches about being coachable or not(and BTW from what I've heard both from Colts and Texas coaches, this is resoundingly NOT TRUE). You report about him being immature and honestly, everything I've seen on the surface suggests the opposite. You report about his combine performance by giving it a pretty harsh reading(the video is in this thread and the account of what happened by McGinn is in this thread... People can actually go and look at what happened and make their own mind about whether the characterization of that workout was fair or not. I will just say you can represent the player stumbling in a drill and going again in various different ways and McGinn chose a specific way to represent it. It was the most negative way you could choose).    You know I had my own reservations about that outburst by Ballard at the presser, but the more I'm learning about Mitchell the more I actually believe in what Ballard was saying and the less merit those reports have in my mind. Maybe I have my own unconscious biases too, now that I have vested interest in Mitchell actually being good for us. I don't know     I guess ultimately none of it matters. AD's success or failure won't depend on some pre-draft reports... it will depend on how he handles himself from now on, how hard he works, his drive to be great and our staff's ability to get the best of him.
    • if he is healthy and they make the playoffs in spite of, say, Houston being the 1 or 2 seed in a loaded afc, you think Irsay would contemplate firing him? That would mean we took another step forward and AR proved he could stay healthy and play ball. I don’t see his seat being hot in that scenario at all. I see the organization being fired up with that and ready to hit the offseason hard to take the next step forward.
    • Hmmm.   ”Healthy excuses will be hard to come by.”    Really?   Richardson, who had less than a thousand snaps in college, then had roughly 200 snaps his rookie year.  There’s one.   And Houston has Stroud who had a great rookie year.  Aren’t most media predicting Houston and JVille ahead of Indy this year?  That’s two without any trouble.     I just think insisting on a division title because a fan thinks it’s time doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny.   Sorry, just my two cents…. And often not worth that much.
    • For me absolutely it does. If Richardson stays healthy excuses will be hard to come up with. As positive as I am with Ballard at some point we have to start winning. He bet on himself by bringing in his own home grown talent this year, what he does at safety in the coming month and a half has me worried as well. We were so close to winning the division last year with a back up QB that my expectation is winning the AFC south this year.    If they make it into the wild card game and lose then the seat is just as hot for me. If they advance further and make a Cinderella run then I’m fully back on board.
