I don't know about 28th, but its right to have HOU ranked ahead of us.  They beat JAX badly and their starting QB for the rest of the season, Stroud, took a step ahead.  We didn't beat JAX with our starting QB, and got our 2 wins with the QB we are not going to start going forward.

Jets have a good defense that will keep them in games/win games.

I have questions about the TEN ranking.

I actually agree with this. Stroud has started looking like the real deal, while Richardson hasn't finished a single NFL game.

The overall team looks decent, though sans the QB position, which is still a huge question mark.

I feel like like I'm in the Twilight zone with how so many people are already sold on Richardson.

Personally, I like the “”underdog” perspective from media. I wonder if players read this stuff?

Bob Kravits had them winning two or three. Local media is no better.

Okay Colts - PROVE THEM WRONG, ALL YEAR LONG!!

I’ll eat a plate of Crow right now. I’ve cheered for the Colts since the 1950s, thick or thin. I was sure the only game we’d win was the Houston Game here in Indy, and that we were building for next year, not this year.  Glad I was wrong!

@LJpalmbeacher2,

I would still be weary of putting Cincy that high. I get it though because of the last 2 years and Burrow is great. Burrow to me doesn't look near 100% healthy though. I still think the Ravens win that division.

Both the Bengals & Ravens have the misfortune of playing in the same division of one of the leagues favorite teams....the Steelers.

The script hasn't been written much in favor of them lately because of brady/belichek and then Maholmes getting the lead roles plus the Steelers have lacked talent a few years.

But despite them still not being talented and especially woeful on offense, I think they win their division this year and unfortunately for Bengal and ravens fans their teams will play their part for that to happen(Ravens & refs did vs colts?)

Just throwing out a script like they joke about in the NFL commercials :funny:

FWIW:

For those who care,  ESPN’s new power rankings have the Colts listed at 20.

That's more supportable than the OP.  The OPs ranking really has teams 20 through 28 kind of a toss up as to where they should be this early.

Yes, the ranking of 28 just seems silly on its face.    The Colts have played three games, won two on the road, and were competitive for most of the one game they lost.   28 seems like nonsense.

Not a good look for NFL.com.

The 20 to 28 teams are a tossed salad, but I think the Colts are better ranked closer to 20 than 28.  I do think HOU is ranked correctly, numerically (not comparing them to Colts as the measure), to follow up on my previous comments.

Both Stephen Holder and Kevin Bowen have both mentioned the vibe  they got from colts is they did not expect colts to be very good this year. Kevin Bowen said he was told this directly from someone pretty high up. So I think colts are defintely over  achieving what expectations were.

At the same time it’s amazing what actual good offensive coaching will do for a team. Same goes for accountability. This team always had the talent. They lacked at offensive coaching and QB mostly in the last few years. That hopefully seems to have been fixed.

I think the Colts are in the 10-14 bracket.

The Bengals may grow into it later this season, but right now I don't think they are up there.

The Chargers lost by 2 to the Dolphins who nearly set a record for most points scored last week. They are better than their record.

The Pats have played against the Eagles, the Dolphins and the Jets. They've won the only game they realistically could of those 3.

We lost to the Jags at home.

The Browns destroyed the Bengals and the Titans and lost a close game to the Steelers.

The Steelers beat the Browns and the Raiders and got recked by the probable NFC favorite.

    • I’m glad our team didn’t have the bears body language. At least they were encouraging AR on his mistakes. Williams on the other seemed like he is already on the hot seat and teammates are getting tired of it.
    • I will say this. AR imo threw the ball much MUCH better in his 4 games last year compared to his first 3 this year.  Not even close.   I have to believe a lot of that is due to him being unable to practice much on his mechanics until August or so.  Remember even during spring practice he was complaining of a sore shoulder and had to take some time off.   I fully believe that once he is totally over his injury that he will be able to take the extra reps needed to get back into a way of throwing without having to think so much.   I play a sport at a highly competitive level, won't say which one, but I broke my thumb this spring and I just now am start to get back into the swing of things.  But I am not even close to where I was before I broke it.
    • Do you honestly think the Colts will win a SB, let alone make the playoffs....with Joe Flacco as QB?  I mean are you seriously pining for a 39 year old retread ala Matt Ryan to lead this team????   I am at a loss for that and the only thing that makes any sense is your complete dislike for AR is clouding your judgement.    AR is the future of this team.  He has a high ceiling and with him, and IF he progresses, the team could be a SB contender in a year or 2.  But with or without him there is no way in H E double toothpicks that this team wins a SB this year.  Just not enough ELITE talent on the team.  Honestly the only truly elite player on the entire team as of today is JT.  AR could be.  Not now but could be.   Besides that?  Nobody.  By elite I mean game changing talent.    So you ride with AR, hope he stays healthy and finishes the season, and improves. He makes good decisions for the most part.  The INT in the endzone today was not a good one but for the most part he does.  He just needs to gain experience and technique.    But saying JF should start, when at best....I mean AT BESt ALL HE DOES IS GET YOU into the first round of the playoffs?  Who cares.   I would rather see progression from AR, even it means suffering through a lot of losses, and get a high pick for next year rather than go through a 9-8 season with JF.  Remember the first Manning year he was not good, but he gained tons of experience.  We then got a super high draft pick where we drafted Edge the and we were off to the races after that.   I mean, haven't you had enough of Rivers, Wentz, Ryan and Mishew?  I cannot honestly believe people want to go back to that.   FJ is Matt Ryan PERSONIFIED.
    • One progress I see is that he's finishing games so that's a step. The shoulder surgery and offseason rehab has definitely set him back for a raw guy who needs all the reps he can get. It was reported that AR has a total of 30 something starts at qb INCLUDING hs. Think about that most have that in high school alone. Caleb Williams is the 2nd youngest starting qb in the league and had 33 starts in college alone while winning a Heisman trophy. AR is the youngest starting qb in the league at just 22 but has extreme talent and natural gifts that have to be developed.   I think the staff is doing him a disservice by taking away the threat of his legs (see Lamar) because he is not a pocket passer. I think AR needs a go to TE and the Colts need to rely on the run more with JT until AR catches up from his lost rehab time. Give him some easy short throws to build his confidence before he starts throwing into coverage take the Josh Allen approach.   The biggest problem is that Ballard chose a project in AR instead of moving up to snag the polished CJ Stroud. Most teams move up to get their franchise guy unless they already have the number one pick overall. The reason why it's problem is that the fan base is starting to get restless and the thought of another few years of unfulfilled promise seems discouraging.   Once Ballard chose to sit pat AR was the right choice over the awful Will Levis who was a strong possibility if not for Shane according to Shefty and Will's people. Bottom line is that this will take time. Is the overall team good enough to make a push while AR goes through his growing pains to reach his full potential? I doubt it because Ballard's tenure has been spun in mediocrity at best.
    • Honestly no, but then I didn’t expect to see any progress yet either. He basically lost an entire season and offseason because of injury.    I’ll be more concerned if there’s no progress next season.    What I think is much more of a concern this season is that Steichen’s playcalling seems to have regressed badly. I expected a vastly different offense than what we’re playing and I don’t think Steichen is helping AR at all.
