First preseason game of 2023. Come and cheer on your team.

What are your thoughts on the team so far? What have you seen in training camp that intrigues you? What do you expect from new players?

Yeah, it is preseason, but it signals that the regular season is just one month away.

Ready for the action.

AR in live action

OL performance

CB performance

No injuries

Feel like the rest of the team is pretty solid, these are the only question marks.

Feel confident the young CB room will be ok, just might take a few lumps in the process.

This is the 40th anniversary of our team being here. 1984-to now the 2023 season. Once 2023 is completed, that will be 40 full seasons.

We have had a rich history here in Indianapolis, 5 AFC Title Game appearances = 1995, 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2014. 2 SB appearances = 2006, 2009. Of course, the SB Championship win in 2006.

QB's we have had here that have been good-great:

Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Jim Harbaugh, Philip Rivers. Let the AR era begin I say with a breath of fresh air Happy Season 17 GIF by The Simpsons.

Lets have patience and enjoy the ride. It may be rocky at times but hang in there.

@adubb84 You changed your avatar for the season?? :)

Did you and your wife enjoy the Broncos preseason game? I watched only the first quarter.

Anyway, hope all is well. Enjoy this game.

I did change it! It was time lol. Didn’t get a chance to watch the broncos but rest assured I’ll definitely be watching this one :headspin:

Hoping this game is on TV. Would rather watch it there than gametracker. Can't wait to see Richardson in a live game! Should be a big learning experience for him.

Think it's on NFL Network for out of market.

It’s only local markets. If you want to see it you have to get a free trial from nfl plus. You can watch all out of market preseason games. Still have time to do it.

Yeah, Titans and Bears are on my TV in an hour. Unfortunately. I'll watch it on gametracker and look at all the highlights later while being on the preseason thread.

Do you have NFL+ ? That is what used to be called Game Pass. You can watch it on there. (That is a legal streaming site.)

We just got to Orchard Park....it's pouring but sky's are brightening

How long did you drive to get there?

Btw, I wonder if spiedies (a sandwich from the Southern Tier) are sold in Buffalo.

Yeah the radar didn’t even really show much. Hopefully no more pop up.

NFL Network said a few minutes ago that the stadium had to move all fans inside. Perhaps that took place earlier?

I checked out the pricing, has become four-fold in few years, no Live games for me.

Also, NFL+ asks to install DAZN, and the reviews say stream is very poor, shame Gamepass used to be one of the best in streaming Live games.

I think you can try it for free for a week or a month. I don't like streaming in general but could not get Vikings games without it. I paid $79 last year. It is $99 this year if I also want to stream NFL Network and RedZone. I think it is $39 if I choose games only. I have 30 days to decide what I want. I think I will choose the $39 one (No Red Zone or NFL Network).

Yeah he will play. Probably will get quite a bit of playing time.

That's great. I'm a big fan of his. I preferred Downs in the 3rd round or later over Jordan Addison in the first round. But Addison reminded me of former Vikings WR Cris Carter with his play on Thursday. It may have been a good pick after all.

    • Your first sentence is correct.   The defense has been decent not great.  Giving up 16 points a game for 2 games straight is pretty good.  The last TD in the bears game was pretty much in garbage time.   The defense is not the problem with this team giving up 16 points a game.     The offense is the problem in that drives cannot be sustained with the passing game.  Without JT this team would be 0-3 because he is the only spark on offense right now.
    • I loved seeing the kid get pressure at an absolute critical time in the game and making a huge play. The Colts D has struggled to get pressure in key situations the last several years. Very refreshing.
    • In my opinion (which is worth 2 cents): 1.  AR himself:  The one foot superman throws have to stop.  I think teams have studied the film and are hip to it now.  Last year, it seemed when AR would attempt them, it was against 1on1 situations, but this year it’s been a safety shadowing and there to pick off the overthrown ball.  AR has to not try to depend on his athleticism and stick to the mechanics.  Use the athleticism to create but use the mechanics to execute.  Also, he needs to get comfortable with the amount of touch he puts on his throws, but that will and hopefully should come with experience and coaching.   2.  Playcalling:  last year, the playcalling for the small sample size we got is vastly different than this years.  Last year, we leaned on zack moss and the run game and utilized ARs legs with designed runs, rollouts, etc.  this year, it seems we’ve gone straight Air Raid with running sprinkled in.  Shane says it’s because of the urgency to score quick to mitigate us losing the TOP battle by a wide margin.  I think we should worry about that until it’s time to in the game.  We shouldn’t be panicking in the 1st and 2nd qtrs when it’s a one score game.  I’ve said it in other threads, AR shouldn’t throw more than 25 times.  Maybe 30 tops depending on the game.  And also, would like to see AR out of the pocket more.  Keep the defense on its heels and guessing.     3.  Not having JD and productive TE group:  downs didn’t play the first 2 games and our TE room has been abysmal.  Last year, you had guys like ogletree and even cox making some plays.  This year, it seems all we have is the one flash per game from Granson.  Not to mention, MPJ is off to a BAD year.  AR doesn’t have any safety blankets.  He doesn’t have someone he can fall back on when things downfield aren’t there.  That should be MPJ but as I said above, MPJ has been bad.  We just got downs back so they should be back cooking once downs get his game wind back.    4.  Missing time due to injury:  I stated in the offseason that the colts needed to utilize every opportunity we had to get AR reps in the preseason.  We have the youngest and most inexperienced starting QB.  Not playing him in the preseason that much held him back.  Me personally, I would’ve let AR play every preseason game until he asked to come out due to soreness or whatever.     so as you can see, I think it’s more to it than just “AR sux”.
    • Maybe he's not much of a passing QB yet. But he's willing to get in there and do some dirty work for his teammates. That builds locker room camaraderie for sure.
    • .  I think we can win now with Flacco…maybe even have a shot at the big game if our defense improves. We can definitely win the division. Our offense is pretty stacked for Flacco….number one oline…..top 5 rb…..solid receivers. From what you’ve seen of Richardson do you honestly think he is a franchise qb with his accuracy problems?  I see where you are coming from though. Everyone wants AR to pan out….i get it…...I just don’t think he’s a franchise qb. Not even sure if he’s a legit starter in this league. I will hope for the best though and root for him as long as he wears the shoe.
