Possible Remaining FA Targets/Draft Fits

Recommended Posts

With acquisition of Rivers and Buckner, Colts filled their two highest positional needs at QB and 3-Tech DT. Colts were able to retain Castonzo, so that solves the OT issue for now, though we could still look to develop someone in the draft. According to Overthecap (with Rivers' $25M cap hit added), Colts have ~ $21.6 M in cap space remaining. Trading Brissett would save ~ $15.8 M and cutting him would save ~ $8.9 M. Could also cut Hoyer now and save $3 M or designate him as a Post-June cut and save $4 M. Colts could potentially bring their cap space to between $32 M - $40 M. There are still areas that the Colts can improve on, and I'm am going to list potential options and how we could acquire them.

you're not getting any of those WRs under 5 mil per year, Funchess will get at least 9 per.  Sanders probably closer to 12.  And you for sure aren't getting Berry for 5 mil.

Sorry....    I doubt I'd agree with most of your predictions here.

WR FA market will likely be depressed because of the amazing draft class.

The world here screamed bloody murder when we gave Funchess $10 mill.    Now, he plays one game,  gets hurt and misses the other 15 games,  and he's a FA again in this market and you think he's getting $9 mill?!?   I simply don't undrstand this.

Eric Berry is no longer Eric Berry.   Someone may give him more than us...   doesn't mean he's worth it.    If he wants more than we offer,  then I suspect we'd lose him.    And as much as I love him,  I'm not paying for past performance,  especially since he hasn't been his all-pro self for a number of years now.

Trading 13 and signing Rivers leaves me inckined to think our 2nd rounders likely wont be used on a QB, I don't think CB thinks their is a franchise guy in this draft or he'd have kept the pick. One of the high ranked WRs will have to fall either Higgins or Jefferson would be my top picks then either someone like Gallimore or potentially another pass catcher either TE or WR with our 2nd rounder. Derrick Wolf or Shelby Harris would be good 2nd tier FA pickups aswell and maybe Everson Griffin on a short deal as insurance for Turray and to let our younger players like Banagou or whomever we draft develop.

Re-watching the Eagles-Pats Superbowl from a couple years ago and Nelson Agholar was dominant in the final quarter of that game.  What the hell happened to him?  Was last year an abberation?  Could he rediscover his groove in a new uniform?  Watching him now I'm having trouble figuring out what happened?

I've heard at least 2 of the talking heads say Funch's value has dropped significantly. The listed several reasons, but biggest were WR depth in the draft, and the injury last year (one called it a substantial shattering of the bone). Personally I wouldn't have paid 10 last year, but I'd say his value today is probably closer to 5-7 with a clean bill of health.
