Pittsburgh game felt very Chuck Pagano ish

The whole game yesterday seemed very weird from the start. The dumb penalty's that ended up with Pittsburgh points, the pick 6, missed XP, missed 2 pt conversion, missed FG to end game, oh and miss tackles. Not to mention some of the play calling on defense where Samuels looked like a HOF out of the backfield. A group of of us twitter were trying to sum up the game. We all agreed if felt like the good ole days of Chuck Pageno at the helm. 

 

Not looking for backlash but I really hope this isn't a new trend.

I think hoyer being the pick machine he is ,Reich got conservative on drive at end .He can say what he wants but when he makes a kick I'm surprised now .So imo Reich got conservative,if brisett was in maybe we go for td .

If it would have been a Chuck Pagano ish game then the steelers would have laid a 50 burger on us. Our starting QB got injured, a blocked kick and Rhodes and Rigo botched a snap screwing adam. I knew we would lose this game but I am very happy we took them all the way to the end with it.

I don't really understand this line of reasoning.  Man it was 3rd and 1 and we didn't get it.  We could have thrown there, but it doesn't seem to be what just about anyone would do in that situation.  You get the 3rd and one, take the clock down to 5 seconds, and win the game with a routine 40 yarder.  Now our kicker is awful and shouldn't be playing anymore.

 

But man I don't think you can coach like that.  I think the last few plays were coached like they needed to be coached.  If it was 3rd and 3 or more then maybe you pass, but on 3rd and 1 it seems foolish.

Didn't Pete Carroll throw it on goal line in super bowl ?so chill with the foolish stuff

It felt nothing  like a Chuck Pagano game. Pags doesn't go for it on 4th.

I think he had a great game plan with no TY. The end where we just settled for the field goal with a struggling kicker is where I thought it felt chuck like.  Also that 4th and 4 not sure if Rigo would of been able to in them deep or if it would of went into the enzone.

The O, for the most part did well and had the team in position to win. Same with the defense. 

Special Teams, stupid penalties, turnovers did them in. Just seemed like, any freak thing that could happen did happen.

I don't know what "Paganoish" means...but I don't think so. Pagano's teams would blow teams out...but also get blown out. This team doesn't do that...which isn't a bad thing...but it also leads to game like this week and last week.

Most of us would have gladly said yes if asked if a 40-yard'ish kick by AV to win the game would have been acceptable.  Not Frank's fault...at all.

I interpret Paganoish to mean stupid, undisciplined penalties (see Darius Leonard x2, Glowinski x2), multiple turnovers, turnover for a TD, special team gaffes (blocked kick, missed FG, fumbled punt), and a spattering of conservative play-calling combined with going for it on 4th down at the wrong times.

 

I love Frank, but that game had lots of the Pagano-era staples.  It was ugly and disappointing in every facet. 

 

I don't think OP was trying to compare Reich to Pagano (that would be insane).

Circling back around to this post. 

 

Let me start off by saying that I wasn't comparing Pagano and Reich.  Like mentioned above it was exactly as you stated undisciplined penalties, multiple turnovers and so on.

 

However I purposely didn't respond to anyone because as I felt at the time I was right. Obviously the rest of the season played out again in my option very Paganoish.  Many people on here wasn't or didn't want to hear it or admit it. Please don't give me the excuses of injuries or the QB retired right before the season because we are passed that.  Lets go Colts and Lets go Coach Reich!!
