4th Round Who you got us taking?

Recommended Posts

I'd be okay with somebody like Ray Graham or a faster running back, or Ty Powell. Although Ithink it's possible Powell is around in the 5th or 6th. I'd also be okay with a DB being selected at this pick if someone is available like Duke Williams. There doesn't appear to be many Cornerbacks left that I like.

I believe there will be a run on running backs in this round. There is a lot of quality backs still left on the board. I even see Edgerrin James brother or cousin Mike James is stillon the board. He's not a bad player. Lot of backs to choose from in this round.

I don't think there is a corner worth taking in the 4th round, Quintin Patton would be a great pickup but doubt he will be available when we pick in the 4th.  I think Marcus Lattimore or Johnathan Franklin would be a great pick.  I lean more towards Franklin, because he fits everything we need him to do.  Runs well, has good enough speed who explodes out of his cuts and through open holes, and has solid hands and good in pass protection.  Would be a 3 down back.

I think for WR someone who has been a bit under the radar that we can pick up in the 5th would be Rodney Smith. 6'4'' 225 out of Florida St. vertical threat down that has good hands, but a bit raw in terms of his route running, but nothing that Reggie Wayne can't help him with.  He might even drop to the 6th, so unless Quinton falls to us in the 4th I think RB would be a good pick.

If there is 1 thing I have learned about the draft more then anything else its that if a team really covets a player and has him high on there board but most think he is a later round pick DONT be afraid to pull the trigger with no regrets on him, it may not work out but at least you did it YOUR way

Tharold Simon maybe but Im looking at rb or a couple other pass rushers if they fall or Safety or wr first

A lot of good talent left. Question who's going to fall far enough. It could be any of the following:

Quinton Patton

Ryan Swope

Keenan Allen

Da'Rick Rogers

Brian Schwenke

Barrett Jones

But I'm good with anyone who fills a need and can be a productive player.

The difference is that you can play more than one pass rusher at a time...well you can do that with QB's too but only with gimmicky formations like wildcat or something like that.

why did I ask?  just curious what your answer would be.  And it would seem that others wouldn't be upset if another pass rusher were taken, just as I would not be if Brandon Jenkins happens to still be there at our 4th round pick.  No reason not to bring in another if he's the best player they have on the board at the time.   ;)

what position(s) would you prefer to address with the remaining picks?

BPA between OLineman, WR, RB, DLineman, DBs.

I would love for us to get Quinton Patton. So much so that I would trade next year's 5 to move up and get him.

I am not sure how bad Jesse Williams' knee is. Is he another Champman who may have to sit out a year? I would be ok with drafting him if he cleared medically.

Jesse Williams, Brandon Jenkins, Quanterus Smith, Baccari Rambo, Phillip Thomas, Robert Lester, Dan Buckner, Marquess Wilson,  Kenjon Barner and Andre Ellington (I'd like to know why the heck he is still there) all still available

So in other words, positions where we already have a number of players but  could still use upgraded depth?  you may not feel the same way but at this point I would add OLB/DE in that category as well.  Like the other positions you mentioned, if there is a pass rusher available who might wind up being better than our worst current pass rusher then we'll have upgraded the position and the team.   The only positions I'd have ruled out by that point would be QB, FB, K and P.  If there's one guy at any other position that they feel is significantly better than their other players then take him, regardless of position.  However, if you wind up with a couple of guys that you feel are pretty close to equal, then you can definitely take position into consideration.

BPA sounds so simple in theory. lol

    • Good players make plays when the game is on the line. Like Reggie Wayne in the green bay game. One thing is for sure you don't  target a guy that has down next to nothing  all game when the game is on the line. That be as silly as when Taylor averages 8 yards a carry all game and with the game on the line and it being 3rd and 2 you substitute  him for a back who got stuffed at the line of scrimmage  all game. Every team has a go to guy. Brady had gronk and edleman Brees had Michael Thomas and Jimmy Graham. Stroud most dependable  target is nico Collins ect
    • It really was pretty wild to see the difference in AR to Flacco as it pertains to processing in live time.  They really are pretty much the opposite QB at this point in their careers, Like some have mentioned- AR is just unrefined in everything he does.  His reads are too quick, his footwork is too unsettled and he looks like a wild stallion in that pocket.  When he makes big plays it usually isn't because of the aforementioned traits, its because he can release the ball quick with superior velocity.    In Flacco you have a guy who makes perfectly settled, on rhythm reads, has solid and quiet footwork in the pocket and looks calm and collected out there. When he makes big plays its because of his veteran decision making within the construct of the offense. However, if that breaks down his chances of overcoming it are very slim. He won't run for the first down and his 40 year old arm (while still good and lightyears better than a 37 year old Matt Ryan's) is limited.  You could see the difference in his arm strength on the deep ball.  His float like a balloon and Richardson's are absolute ropes.    In theory, Flacco should be the perfect QB from a skillset standpoint to mentor Anthony on his weaknesses, and those seem to be Flacco's strengths.    Ultimately though, for every pass Joe has to throw in a game means less chance of Anthony developing.  He needs to be on the field.  Having Joe is nice if you are contending or in a playoff hunt, but having Joe on the field for meaningful time in week 4 was NOT and is NOT in the blueprint of what we are building.    A lot of people are complaining ad nauseum about Anthony and if he will ever get there- but nobody denies the upside that we've seen. I think the first step in his development is being able to hone down on what he needs to work on the most and I really think that stage is almost complete.  He will grind, and by week 8 lets have another conversation.  Injuries aside of course.  The kid needs to also learn the physicality of the NFL and had no time to sink his teeth into S and C last offseason.
    • Who would have thought Mason Rudolph would come in for Will Levis? If Will Levis plays the whole game, Dolphins win, IMO.   Plus, Seahawks vs Lions, what a barn burner. Seahawks' D was minus 5 starters with 3 along the DL, the Lions ran on them like crazy, and Goff doesn't get touched, the kind of game he excels when pressure doesn't get to him. Seahawks did fight hard, was pleasantly surprised by Geno Smith, he has been a late bloomer, just like Sam Darnold now.
    • My main concerns with Richardson are his accuracy problems and his injury history. His big play ability relies on his legs a lot which in turn leaves him open to getting hurt. If he doesn’t use his legs as much then he needs to get a lot more accurate. Hopefully he’s able to make it through the entire season.
    • What I need to do is stop watching. I have a superstition, bear with me, transcends sports.   Chiefs' Eagles SB, I was so tense because I was rooting for Mahomes, so I stopped watching at half time when the Eagles were leading 24-14, the rest is history. 2022 AFCCG, Sneed goes down within the first few plays, their star CB vs the Bengals with Burrow boasting a 3-0 record vs Mahomes. It did not bode well for the Chiefs, so I stopped watching. Learned they won by a FG.   Chiefs' 49ers SB, I stopped watching when the 49ers went up 10-0, once I knew the result, I watched highlights.   I love Novak Djokovic, he was down a break and a set versus Carlos Alcaraz in Cincinnati. I stopped watching, he came back, won that set in a tie break and then won the whole match. 2018 Wimbledon semis vs Nadal, he goes down 1 sets to 2, I stopped watching, Djokovic comes back and wins.   Bengals game versus the Chiefs this year, the Bengals were ahead before that defensive TD happened, Burrow had just thrown a TD on 4th down. Stopped watching. Chiefs win by 1.    Yesterday, Flacco barely gets out of the pocket to avoid intentional grounding, Steelers were down 10-17, they were making a comeback. I stopped watching. The Colts won. If I have a favorite in the game, I have to stop cheering for them at some point and stop watching, that is my superstition.    I know what I need to do for the Jaguars game, let us hope it works.
