Brand new No WR Trade Necessary Draft

Recommended Posts

The only WR I see us trading for who is actually productive is Jeremy Maclin but I wouldnt wanna give up our 1st for him so I have us drafting one instead...

1st- WR Keenan Allen, Cal (At 6-3, 210 pounds he has the length and athleticism to go out and get jump balls and has decent route running ability. Reggie can help him refine that and Allen will take over the #1 WR job when Reggie calls it a career.)

*Indy trades 3rd and 2014 3rd to move up to the later half of the 2nd round*

2nd(via trade)- OLB Jamie Collins, Southern Miss (We need a versatile pass rusher like this and he will take over for Mathis hopefully by 2014. Mathis is costing us too much money.)

4th- OG Alvin Bailey, Arkansas (Gives us our other starting OG opposite Donald Thomas. Reitz, Link, and McGlynn are good backups with Reitz and Link also able to play RT if needed.)

5th(proj. comp pick)- CB Terry Hawthorne, Illinois (A possible sleeper pick at CB to learn from Pagano.)

6th- K Dustin Hopkins, FSU (We need to get rid of Vinatieri's contract soon.)

I like the draft but we wouldn't have to give up a 1st for Macklin, the most probably a 4th. Even if we do get Macklin we still should draft a WR in 1st round because Wayne is 34 and this could be his last year. Keenan Allen, Macklin, and Hilton would give us a great WR trio for Luck in the future.

I'd really like to get Keenan Allen if he fell to us.  That IMO would be far better then trying to trade for one.

In fact with everyone who wants to trade down in this draft, it might be relatively cheap to trade up to make sure we get him.

It's a buyers market when it comes to trading up because everyone wants to trade down.  I wouldn't be surprised if we could move up 8 to 12 spots in the first round at the cost of a 3rd or even a 4th.  Something to consider, I'm not advocating doing it necessarily.

1.Not drafing a wr in the 1st round, either Corner, OLB or Guard is what I am looking at

2.Collins has a 68.8 grade, thats good for a top of the 4th round pick, I have no problem getting him at the bottom of the 3rd which means we would not have to trade up into the 2nd to do that, If anything trade DOWN into the 2nd and pick up an extra 3rd or 4th

3.drafting a kicker is a waste of a pick

    • Trade him? He just handed him a nice extension.
    • Yes, thanks, you’re right. When the Panthers traded to get the 1 is when Ballard said he didn’t have all the information to make the trade. That’s strange to me.  “Didn’t want to make a blind decision without all the information,” Ballard told reporters Monday. “I know for people, they might not understand that. But I think history kind of tells you that when you do that, you better know what you’re getting. And we weren’t quite ready to do that at that time. And then we feel like there’s enough depth in the draft that we were gonna be okay.”   This was in late March. Ballard had a chance to get the 1 and use it to take Stroud not Young. I think it’s strange he said he didn’t move up to 1 because it would have been a “blind decision.” Why would it be a blind decision in March? Why wouldn’t you know what you’re getting? You’re getting whoever you want if you get the 1. It didn’t happen, but Ballard could have recognized that Stroud was going to be superior, could have made the trade and could have drafted him. Ballard admits it never occurred to him to attempt the trade because it would be a “blind decision.”
    • I cringed after seeing the way his leg bent underneath him to the point of him sitting down on it. Buckner is one tough dude and to see him needing help to get off the field is when I knew he was going to be out for a while.
    • He probably felt confident Bowers would still be on the board at 15 once he made it past NYJ at 11.  He could've been trading up with other teams to move up to get Brock Bowers, but unfortunately, the Raiders had their eyes set on him and took him at 13.
    • Not now...   Let the year play out. Maybe at the end of the season...
