colts sign jerry brown

CR91

I'm pretty familiar with him. And I agree with atapcl in that he may be more than just camp fodder. I follow the Arena Football League closely, and he dominates there. Hopefully it will translate into good things with the Colts.

Here's an article I just wrote about him this morning:

I didnt follow him at Illinois or even follow Illinois

for that matter, if I had to guess I would camp body as well at best . do to his size he will probably have to convert to linebacker to have a shot to make the Colts and we have so much depth I would say he has no shot, I dont even think the Peguese cut has anything to do with this pick up, in my opinion Peguese was cut regardless at some point

Umm he looks like he has some potentail. Seems to be able to at least get pressure on the QB. Makes some plays on the running back in the back field. Does need to work on disengaing his defender so he can actually make a play on the QB and sack him. He does seem to get his arms extended and bull rushh the offensive linemen backward a number of times which is good. But It mainly scrimmage film so Can get to excited overall but he could be a sleeper.

Yeah, that blocked extra point in the Rush/Talons game was a killer.

I remember seeing that & just knowing that was gonna be the difference.

My nephew is the defensive coordinator for the Rush.

JB seems to have a high motor & is quite mobile.

I see him as an OLB as well but he may also get

a good amount of reps on ST.

This is shaping up to be a very exciting off season & I can't

wait to see my NEW & IMPROVED Colts team in action.

Wow, your nephew is Walt Housman?? That's cool! Small world!

    • I think you're operating in fantasy land. Ballard has shown over time if he has any modicum of belief in a young player he's not bringing in a vet to start over his draft pick.  It's not going to happen and in regards to Thomas im sure you werent saying that in year 1.  Year 2 wasnt as good but this is young player.  Most peoples back ups arent that good in the first place and I think you can certainly do worse than a guy who has started several games and done well at least once.
    • You do NOT want to have Rodney Thomas back there if Cross gets injured. And honestly, what has Cross ever shown to suggest he’s a starting FS? I get giving the CBs a chance to grow. They’ve shown genuine promise. Cross and Thomas? No. The Colts need a vet FS back there ASAP.
    • Future is bright folks. We've got plenty of time for negativity.    Can't wait to see JT and AR working together. Can't wait to see AD with a chip on his shoulder with Downs a year better and our guy Pittman doing his thing.   As we've learned in the past, if you've got a solid O your defense could be suspect in spots and you can still have success.   I think Coach Shane will be even better this year. The guy was coming off a SB season with Philly so he had no off-season working until Feb then straight to us and started working.   I'm a solid 7 or 8. Go Colts. Looking forward to buying me some playoff tickets this year.
    • I don't think we sign anybody unless they get a bad read on Nick Cross during the preseason and training camp.  I believe they have a pretty good idea that Cross is ready to take over at FS.  If so then you have an elite level athlete back there.  I also think that they are pretty comfortable with Rodney Thomas being his backup.  Thomas has a lot of starting experience at this point and you could do a lot worse than him when it comes to a reserve player. I say we are likely to have Cross and Blackmon as the starters.
    • I went with 5/10.  Mostly because there is too much we do not know about.   Will AR play all season?  I hope so but do not know how good he will be even if he does play.  The defense has question marks.   This team could win 12 games or they could only win 6.
