Got stung in the eye by a bee, whole side of my face is swollen up. Still here. Listening in to Pat's show with Bill. Belichick sounds so much happier and youthful.

I’ve gotten stung in the eye by a bee before couldn’t see for two days! I’m amateur beekeeper.

Reading in multiple places that Jack is looking to move up to select a pass catcher. They are at P 17 so we dont have much of an advantage over them. Maybe Ballard not looking to move up anyway ?

There was discussion if the Colts would even activate Paye's 5th year option. Which I believe that decision does not have to be made for quite a while yet. I could definitely see Ballard taking a pass rusher. Turner may go earlier? But I am not convinced the Colts see Turner is the best at that position. Watch for Latu at 15.

a top tier OT should be in consideration, if available? Our line may gave improved a bit last year, but honestly, they were far from stellar

I called the pick back on April 4th

In the first round?

I think Latu is the best pass rusher. My concerns are his health (far and away the biggest concern, which also relates to his age), and his length. I also wonder if he's strong enough to hold the edge in the NFL. It's really all about the medicals. I know I blasted his RAS score, but that's not because I don't like him, I just think if he did the agility testing that score would drop.

Chop Robinson and Dallas Turner have the highest upside, IMO. I don't think Turner is a great scheme fit, especially against the run. Still haven't gone back to rewatch him, though.

Verse is kind of a mess, but he's tenacious and strong.

I don't think I'd have a huge problem with any of them at #15, but Verse is my least favorite.

Since we're bumping stuff...

My thought of the day: I think I want Laiatu Latu if we are going to be going for DE in the 1st. He will be my EDGE1 in this draft. Just.. .the more I watch of him and the other EDGEs ... the more I just cannot ignore how skilled he is. I am not sure I've seen this refined of a pass-rusher recently. It's almost like he's playing completely different game than any of the other EDGEs in this draft. And then he went on and tested above 9 RAS... like WHAT? Today I heard another metric in PFF's podcast... there's this in-game athleticism score(GAS) they have. And they have him measured at 97.1 out 100 in 2022 and 99.7 in 2023!!! They have him as an elite functional athlete, even though he doesn't look like it at first sight. And then the final nail - even production-wise he's the best pass-rusher in the draft... has 27 sacks last 2 years... 62 pressures this year, 65 last year... 21.5 FTLs this year, 12.5 last year... those are insane numbers. Those are better numbers than many of the EDGEs that have been drafted in the top 5(like the Bosas, like ... even Myles Garrett) don't hit...

If our doctors clear him medically... I think I'd be ecstatic to get him at 15.

My bump up... from exactly a month ago.

Latu:

in 2022. He ranked first in the FBS in total pressures (55) and pressure percentage (19.1%), and his 10.5 sacks ranked ninth. He was just as good in 2023. During the regular season, he ranked first in pressure percentage (20.1%) and pressures (56) and was fourth in sacks (13). He had a midseason stretch of 5.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss over three games.

More reason to believe this was an excellent pick.

While having 6 QBs go in the first 12 picks pushed some talent towards us... it probably also contributed to it being extremely hard for Ballard to trade up. It's just way too hard to make teams move away from QBs or to outbid teams who are bidding for their QB. I think 5 was probably our best chance for trade up... Arizona reportedly completely shut down any offers - they just wanted MHJ and they took him. 5 was probably our best chance, but it probably was way too steep of a price. Giants probably didn't want to move from Nabers, division rival Titans not great trade partner, Atlanta... wanted a freaking QB for some reason?!?!? Then Bears got their dream player drop to them and IMO that was probably the last chance we had.

Just I figured would happen they went defense in the 1st round which was fine.....like I said drafting a wr that early who would be fighting for the #3 spot, you can get that type wr in the later rounds

I think there was an over evaluation of the wr talent and how loaded it actually is. I think moving forward it maybe slim pickings and that's why i am in favor of the Colts moving up to get their guy in the 2nd. Hopefully an elite pass rusher was found in the1st but they still need a corner/safety. Cooper could be that guy but I expect him to come off the board very soon.

I think if AR can stay healthy Pierce will have a big year.   Pittman moving the chains, Downs in the slot, and deep shots to AP

    • I almost spit my coffee out reading this a few times, lol!  I love sarcasm and I especially love it when there is some truth to it!  Well played Sir!
    • I guess the whole question is the merits of the report. You report on his diabetes with tons of guesses and speculations and WITHOUT taking the side of the person who's been affected here and who's living and dealing with that condition. You report on the player being uncoachable WITHOUT taking the opinion of his coaches about being coachable or not(and BTW from what I've heard both from Colts and Texas coaches, this is resoundingly NOT TRUE). You report about him being immature and honestly, everything I've seen on the surface suggests the opposite. You report about his combine performance by giving it a pretty harsh reading(the video is in this thread and the account of what happened by McGinn is in this thread... People can actually go and look at what happened and make their own mind about whether the characterization of that workout was fair or not. I will just say you can represent the player stumbling in a drill and going again in various different ways and McGinn chose a specific way to represent it. It was the most negative way you could choose).    You know I had my own reservations about that outburst by Ballard at the presser, but the more I'm learning about Mitchell the more I actually believe in what Ballard was saying and the less merit those reports have in my mind. Maybe I have my own unconscious biases too, now that I have vested interest in Mitchell actually being good for us. I don't know     I guess ultimately none of it matters. AD's success or failure won't depend on some pre-draft reports... it will depend on how he handles himself from now on, how hard he works, his drive to be great and our staff's ability to get the best of him.
    • if he is healthy and they make the playoffs in spite of, say, Houston being the 1 or 2 seed in a loaded afc, you think Irsay would contemplate firing him? That would mean we took another step forward and AR proved he could stay healthy and play ball. I don’t see his seat being hot in that scenario at all. I see the organization being fired up with that and ready to hit the offseason hard to take the next step forward.
    • Hmmm.   ”Healthy excuses will be hard to come by.”    Really?   Richardson, who had less than a thousand snaps in college, then had roughly 200 snaps his rookie year.  There’s one.   And Houston has Stroud who had a great rookie year.  Aren’t most media predicting Houston and JVille ahead of Indy this year?  That’s two without any trouble.     I just think insisting on a division title because a fan thinks it’s time doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny.   Sorry, just my two cents…. And often not worth that much.
