Skai moore

I view him as a Clayton Geathers kinda sub package player - which in this league means he would certainly play a lot in the nickel and dime.

I'm sure a full season and now a full offseason in a professional diet and strength training program would be beneficial to him seeing the field more next season.

You can't ignore his production and insticts in college - they will translate on the field better next year when he's stronger and faster (instinctively)!

What are your thoughts on Skai Moore. I loved what I saw from him in college but looks a little undersized.  But then again lenord is 220lbs.

Does he have starter potential??

You never know how (well and far) a player develops over time until time passes.  To me, he is a 2 time neck injury player. Not good IME.  He is also special teamer and backup WILL material in my minds eye.  Needs more bulk/power for MIKE backup.  Not a SAM at all.

Wasn't he a UDFA, waived off the roster at one point, and subsequently not claimed?  Apparently not a highly coveted practice squad player either.  Maybe it's the neck...

I didn't see anything special to be honest.  And he certainly doesn't bring anything against the run.  I agree with Scott as far as subpackages for him.  We'll see what's in store for him in 2019 but it wouldn't surprise me if he's not here.

I am with @krunk he seemed to be a liability every time he was on the field.  He was horrible in run defense and didn't do much in pass defense either. Not saying that he can't improve but I think the only way he stays on the team in 2019 is if; the Colts do not sign any other LBers or there are some injuries during the preseason.

IMO, his role in the D is the role that Geathers fills, an in the box safety on passing downs.  The difference is, he is not as good against the run as Geathers nor is he as good in pass D.

Agreed but if we are talking neck injuries then is geathers even worth resigning?? Maybe cheap

He grades as smart, very instinctive, but below average speed, athlete to have solid coverage skills.
Kinda makes him a practice squad level grade waiting for someone just a little better to bump him.

Those were said about Gary Brackett too but once you stop reacting with a good grasp of the D and start balling, your instincts and smarts can help you overcome a few limitations. Unlike Gary though, he is still a passing down guy at best.

Yes. There's a lot to be said for guys like that.  Not the most highly drafter nor talented (maybe even have a chip on the shoulder) yet are smart, understand the responsibilities in detail, and then outwork everyone else.  Will get you quite far.  Look at most of the Pats rosters over the years.

    • Hey Everyone,   So, I just caught wind of Goodson's apology letter after dropping that short pass from Minshew against the Texans last season. Here's my humorous take on the situation:   "Dear Fans, Coaches, Teammates, and Supporters,   I'm writing to apologize for buttering up that short pass in the most critical moment against the Texans. Look, I know I'm the backup running back, but hey, I'm usually good for catching those short throws - emphasis on 'usually'. My bad for turning a routine play into a blooper reel moment.   To my teammates, sorry for making you wonder if I was secretly playing for the other team. Next time, I'll practice catching more than just footballs thrown by the water boy.   To the coaches, maybe let's reconsider throwing short passes to guys who have hands that are more slippery than a greased pig at the county fair. Just a suggestion.   And to the fans, thanks for turning my drop into a meme. I promise to work on my catching skills so I can make highlights, not lowlights, next season.   Sincerely, Goodson (aka the running back who should stick to running)"   Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but you get the gist. Let's hope Goodson has been hitting those catching drills hard this offseason!
    • I remember looking for highlights of TJ after we drafted him.  I kept finding videos of him following OJ Howard into the endzone.  Not sure if Howard was his responsibility, but it didn't paint a promising picture.
    • Ballard,   So, yeah, about that whole "bust" thing—I guess the cat's out of the bag. Turns out, I'm more of a popcorn fart than a thunderclap. My bad.   When you drafted me, I thought I was gonna be the Colts' next big thing. You know, sacking quarterbacks, making highlight reels, maybe even getting my face on a cereal box someday. But instead, I've been about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.   I've watched the tapes, Coach. I've seen the memes. They're comparing my NFL career to a hangover—starts off with high hopes, and ends with regret and a lot of Gatorade. And honestly, I get it. I'm like that guest who shows up to a party uninvited and ends up eating all the chips.   So, here's my mea culpa. I apologize for not living up to the hype. For every missed tackle, every missed sack, and that one time I accidentally tackled our own quarterback in practice (sorry, Philip). I'm like the guy who brings a guitar to a party and insists on playing Wonderwall—I'm annoying and not nearly as good as I think I am.   But hey, I'm not giving up. I'm hitting the gym, studying film (mostly bloopers at this point), and practicing my touchdown dance for when pigs finally fly. I promise to work harder and maybe, just maybe, I'll redeem myself and earn my place in the Hall of Mediocrity.   Thanks for believing in me, and letting me live my dream for 4 years straight whilst simultaneously producing nothing for your team. I'll make you proud yet, even if it's just by being the team's MVP of Bust Central, and we aren't talking bronze heads.    Sincerely, Ben "The Bust" Banagous (Not sponsored by Gatorade yet, but a guy can dream)
    • if you scream MODS! in anything I write,  I might get in trouble. hahaha
    • MODS!  This should be enough to force you to bring back the laughing emoji option!   Funny stuff!
