Very interesting matchup possibility sep 22

When we go to San Fran we may be privaliged to see a Davis vs Davis one on one matchup. I heard Vernon was linning up outside at wr more because of crabtrees injury. Vantae will have his hands full if this becomes fact. My guess is he would be doubled with bethea or Landry. Can't wait to see. I wonder if they went head to head in the past wile Vantae was in south beach?

Nope. He's never faced his brother on the field. I always find those kinds of match-ups fun to watch too. Same dynamic with Tiki and Ronde before they retired.

I would think we would line up Vontae on their best WR, Anquan Boldin.   But it would be fun to watch the two bros going head to head.  Though Vernon is bigger and faster, that doesn't mean he will always be open with Vontae covering him.

I would move Landry to corner and let him shadow Vernon, then move Toler to FS and let Bethea take over at SS that way they limit the mismatches as much as possible.

Landry really needs to cover Vernon in that situation. He's the only one out there that has the size and strength to do it....and even then, Vernon has the upper hand. Dude is a freak of nature.

Vernon Davis is indeed a TE. Our Vonate Davis is a CB. But due to the WR troubles in SF, it's been stated that the 49ers will use Vernon Davis at WR a little bit this season

Yep, and since the only real "Big" CB's are in their division (Browner & Sherman) I believe Vernon at WR will be a matchup nightmare for small CB's

Vernon did line up at WR 26.5% of the time last year and with Crabtree out that could go up.

 

I expect a few good battles between the two during the game.
