From a ratings perspective, it will be huge. But from a game perspective, I dont think it will even be close. Especially after they signed Wes Welker and Louis Vasquez and we really havent gotten much better in free agency in my opinion.

They signed Welker...???  When did this happen?

:edit:    Just got home, and I hadn't seen the news yet.

an average guard and a old slot wr yea im scared.

Vasquez is a very good starting OG and would have been the best OL on our team if we had signed him. Welker is consitently putting up big numbers despite being 31 years old. With Peyton Manning as his QB, his stats shouldnt change much.

You know how Peyton Manning had a practically retired, 36 year old Brandon Stokley making impact plays for the Broncos?  Yeah... a 31 year old Wes Welker still at the top of his game is going to be awfully dangerous in Denver.

Ok, and you just shot your own argument right in the head.

Now instead of 2 great recievers to figure out who to cover, they have 3, 1 of which being the most productive reciever over the last 6 years.

Now, being a Colts fan, you no doubt believe Manning has always been better than Brady. So if Brady has gotten what he has out of Welker, even after an ACL tear, what do you think Peyton can get out of him?

Who Vasquez or Welker? Either way they werent overhyped. Welker's numbers speak for themself, and Vasquez was the 2nd best OG in free agency and cost a good bit less than we paid for Cherilus, the 3rd rated RT in free agency behind Vollmer and Smith.

You think Vasquez is to blame for that? He was the only good OL they had. And he has gotten better every year from reading reports on him. There are 5 men on the OL. Vasquez cant block for all of them.

not really because welker cant do anything but play the slot. welker was a nobody before he went the patriots. you expect him to have the same production at 32 with a weak armed qb.

Yes, hard to believe a guard was payed less than a tackle.

Welker's role in Miami was limited but he flashed much of the potential there that the Patriots eventually got out of him.  There's a reason they identified him as a player they wanted and gave the Dolphins 2nd and 7th round picks for him.

Ok, I give in. Welker can "only play the slot".

Who has made more of slot recievers than Peyton Manning?

And "weak armed qb"?

What does that even mean?

Am I suddenly living in a paralell universe where you have to have a huge arm to make good use of a slot reciever?

You're out of your element here, man. Adding Wes Welker to that offense was the best thing they could have done.

Did you even read my post?  Welker looked good with Joey Harrington throwing him the ball.

Ok, so they are putting three great recievers into the secondary making double coverage near impossible, meaning Peyton won't have to put all that zip on the passes because he's not going to have to be throwing it through such a small window.

There is just no logical way to turn this into a bad move, and you may be the only person on the planet who believes it is.
