For a change we disagree sir. Bob is a journalist, and I actually read his articles during the season. I don't need everything to be Pulitzer quality to find them interesting. He is not a 'true' Indy fan, although he does obviously want them to do well. He doesn't wear homer specs for every word he writes. And he never liked BP, which always made me pull for him.

But I can see why he is not popular!

That is OK BHC...I still read his stuff.  He is just too biased for me as a student of traditional journalism.(That does not apply today it would seem) Yes it is his job to stir the pot...  he does it well.

I do like him being controversial, and I had no problem with him not seeing eye to eye with Polian.  Whereas some journalists would have melted, Kravitz just kept his composure and essentially went toe to toe with BP...especially in the last 2 years when Chris Polian was being forced down our throats.

It is great to disagree sometimes.  I am not a Kravitz hater....just have never enjoyed his show being around Indy so long....:)

Maybe one other thing to consider too, Polian was aware that Belichick knew how to beat Manning as well. This was of course before the defensive rules changed per Polian. So perhaps that factored into his decision to trade Manning if that is in fact even true.

Knew how to beat manning = he had lots of good players on defense

I read his stuff.....he knows hockey...and that is it.  Kravitz knows very little about football and basketball...Indiana's two major league sports other than racing.  He knows zero about that too....

I will say he does tell it like it is....from his side of the stage.  I think this story on Polian is interesting....what would we have gotten for number 18?  I sure am glad it did not happen :)

Nothing profound to say here in response to this just that I miss our entertaining football discussions. We need to start having those again Brent. Jay Kirk that includes you too. I like having people familiar with Indianapolis journalists who can give me the inside track on things. No, I am not referring to betting or gambling either.   haha I just want my Colts to flourish & make the Playoffs with no distractions. A good solid locker room, genuine chemistry, & no headlines in the press for all the wrong reasons thank you very much.

in fairness do any of us truly know hockey well enough to know that he really knows that?

Just a joke for all the hockey fans out there.

This was posted a while back.....

Yes.....   last summer.....

I think the view of most here was that this type of behind the scenes frustration over contracts and such happens far more often than fans ever realize....    Manning stayed much longer and everyone lived happily ever after....

As GM you have to think about all possibilities when making a decision and one of those possibilities was trading Manning.  At the time you would have got the biggest deal in the history of the NFL for Manning.  They would have been able to rebuild that defense in almost one draft depending on how early picks they got, but ultimately the public backlash would have been to great if we did not win right away.

The problem with trading Manning at that time was the fact that Polian had built a team around Manning.  We saw what happened when Manning was injured.  This team took a nose dive and just fell apart without him.  There would have been no way for us to get enough picks back in that first draft after trading Manning to be able to really rebuild the team that quickly. It would have been at least a two draft project and I do not think the fanbase would have accepted that especially after watching Manning take whatever team to a playoff birth.

Thankfully cooler heads prevailed at the negotiation table.

I'll probably never forget the day/place/time I found out Bill Polian was fired. I literally jumped up and down and yelled wooohoooo! (Probably a little longer than I should have)

I'm just glad Na'Polian is long gone and we have the Mighty Grigs instead!

I respect what Bill Polian did in Buffalo, Carolina, & bringing a  :lombardi: trophy to INDY, but you are right Lollygager...It was time for Bill to go about a year earlier IMO. Bill's biggest mistake was appointing his son GM with no legitimate credentials for the job at all. I will miss our Na Polean Bonaparte joke sessions that were funny & clever though.

I do agree that Grigs knows what he's doing & as long as we continue to win everything is alright with me I guess. Everyone on here knows my pet peeve with Grigs. No need to rehash that here. I've already said my peace on it.

It's like breaking up with a girlfriend that will never be your wife. Some good memories; some bad memories...Ultimately, the relationship had reached an impasse & could go no further. Only 1 move left: Dissolve, sever, & make a clean break for all parties involved.

I don't think it could really be stated any clearer.

How about a grumpy old ex wife...:)  Who just so happens to wear a brushed brown suit....:)

    • Packers fans can tell me about Joe Barry that was their DC from 2021-23. They were always in the Top 12-15 range in terms of points per game as opposed to the Colts.   But the year 2021, the Colts were on par because we ran the ball well and possessed it well. Not so much in 2022, and 2023 was a bit of defensive regression for decent possession of the ball from Bradley’s unit.   Brandon Staley is another name but I’d prefer Jon Barry for his units to generate pressure. Otherwise we’d have to look at college like Packers getting the Boston College HC.   I’m a fan of Jim Leonhard that was a heck of a defensive coach / DC at Wisconsin, and is now a DB coach with Broncos. Dave Merritt, the Chiefs DB coach has done an outstanding job there and was interviewed for DC by 49ers.   My pick would be Jim Leonhard or Dave Merritt.
    • You can’t keep winning only scoring one TD A game. I think they have gotten some what lucky with who they have played. Colds dline beat up so we will see.
    • What I meant is they are not going to come out and just throw 50 times. They are going to try and break your will and run out the clock. It’s  probably going to be a low scoring game. They have only scored 3 offensive TD. I am shocked they str 3-0. They don’t have many offensive weapons. Harris is not really a pass catching back who will break a long run. Now could that change. Off course. But their Oline id beat up. I was reading an article how they tried to open things up and Fields immediately got sacked. He they try to open things up till he revert back to Bears fields.
    • I don’t know enough of the position coaches on other teams to say who is worthy of promotion. Best to keep an eye out on head coaches on the hot seat and their staffs.
    • Sadly also changing my Colts pick.. 😞   Steelers 21 vs Colts 17
