His sack numbers don't reflect the quality of play. He's not a starting DE IMO. His best spot is as a situational pass rusher. If he wants that type of pay, I'm good with extending him. If he wants starter money - thanks but no thanks.

I don’t know if anyone realizes this but the colts defense is set to set the franchise record of sacks. That is more sacks then we had in 2005 with Mathis and Freeny. That’s without paye for a lot of games and Lewis getting hurt. Then add Leonard blitzing.

How ever, I have to think Ballard would have factored in to the equation, potential compensatory picks should he  hit the open market! 
 

Assuming a team gives him a kuschty deal, to give us a note worthy comp pick!

A 3rd round comp pick versus having a young double digit sack ER.   I think resigning Yannick is the way to go.

Not living in the Indy area I don’t get to see most of the colt games, but from the ones I have seen it seems like most of the colts sacks are because of good coverage. I just don’t see colt rushers beating the defender with their first move and getting to the qb before he can make reads like top pass rusher do. Sack numbers like tackle numbers can be very misleading. You can say that about all stats in all sports, that’s why all sports have scouts that go out and watch players instead of just looking at stats!

Kwity Paye is a legit sack specialist.  Unfortunately he has been fighting an ankle injury.

Ngakue also seems to get a good number of sacks cleaning up someone else’s pressure.  I would prefer to see Dayo and Kwitty starting at DE.  Ngakue is a 3rd down player to me.
