It's funny because people said the same thing about Lamar coming out, which is why he barely went in the 1st and was a projected Day 2 guy. You never really know. Hurts has improved every year in college, and imo his floor is a Dak Prescott type player, with a poor man's Lamar Jackson being his ceiling. He is having a Heisman type year and really only has one legit NFL guy to throw to. It will really come down to who drafts him, and how willing they are to tailor personnel and scheme to his benefit.
What's interesting is how similar Lamar's last year at Louisville was to what Hurts is putting up this year:
Lamar: 59.1% Completion, 3660 yards passing, 27/10 TD/INT, 146.6 rating, 1601 rushing yards, 18 TD's
Hurts: 71.8 % Completion, 3634 yards passing, 32/7 TD/INT, 200.3 rating, 1255 rushing yards, 18 TD's
Hurts had a better year passing with 12% higher completions, a little better TD/INT ratio, and about 60 points better passer rating, but Lamar ran for about 350 more yards. That was my thinking as well, Lamar a slightly better runner and Hurts a slightly better thrower of the football.
Good article and I believe JB will be the starter in 2020 for at least the first half of the season. But I do want to point out one thing, Player A keeps talking about how bad an ineffective the offense is this year. Fans of player B talk about how great he is.
