The Colts Are The Mystery Team This Season

With all the predictions coming in for this Sunday's games no one can seem to pinpoint how good or bad the Colts are. Everything is Luck, no surprise. I did just read one source has them 31st in power rankings. Not sure how they came up with that this early. A win to start this season should be a great motivator even though it would be against Cincy. The questions are can Luck throw 45 yards and can Deshaun Watson avoid INTs as the AFC South is discussed. The Jacksonville defense is getting a whole lot of praise while not alot of convictions on the Titans good or bad.

Most teams are a mystery this time of year.   Every team in our division is a mystery.   The jags have a very good defense.  Big question marks on offense.   The Texans,   how will Watson respond after the injury.   The titans,   will mariota take the next step?   That's why they play the games.

When all else fails I look to Vegas......Obviously there are some odd wins/losses or blowout games that are a fluke.  But more often then not it is amazing how close those guys are.  I would be surprised if our win/loss total is much different then a game of what the betting line in.

Its going to be a season of ups and downs for sure.  Lots of new pieces and a new scheme on both sides of the ball.  Tons of rookies getting starting reps and still a few holes to fill on both sides of the ball.  I would say its safe to temper expectations but this team is young, hungry and motivated to show what they can do.  If they go 8-8 I will be impressed.  Anything more than that and I will be ecstatic.

Should be fun to watch!

As of now the latest from Vegas is 7.5 for the Colts over/under on wins. I was close as I said it would be 8.5 by now. 7.5 means Vegas thinks the Colts have a 50/50 chance to win 8 games. I would bet the over, I say we win 9.

-Before Luck played in the Pre-Season it was 4.5 at one point back in late July.

I’m actually in Vegas right now ... and I couldn’t resist them giving me 100:1 odds for the Super Bowl. $40 pays $4,000.  Go Colts!

Is it still 7.5 on the over/under for wins. I googled it earlier and that is what it says. I would bet on the over if I were you. I think we can definitely win 8 but if Luck goes down that would go out the window.

    • Thank you for your response and thank you for enlightening myself regarding Partridge. I recall his signing but didn't know much about him until I joined this forum and read several of your posts speaking highly of him. Thank you!  I have researched him since then and have to agree with you, it is likely that his fingerprints were on this signing.    Davis' contract is such that there is no guaranteed money in his 2nd year, with a cap savings of nearly 6.5 million, so there is an out if needed. https://overthecap.com/player/raekwon-davis/8796    I have to think that his main responsibility is as Grover's back up...we all saw how much he was missed last season. Though, this is where Partridge comes in, there may be additional duties. One thing that struck me was when Partridge said (paraphrased) "that he could get Grover some more sacks.". Does that mean he plans to alter the DL scheme, and if so, could the same benefit apply to Davis? Not to mention @Douzer's thoughts of using both Davis and Grover on 3rd and short plus goal line situations...like you said, I am looking forward to watching it play out as well.
    • I'm not saying he is about to be a sack machine but you can see some of his potential as a one gap penetrator with that frame.
    • Davis came from Alabama. My point of interest as the writer highlighted is he is moving from being a 2 gapper into now only being responsible for a single gap with a lot more penetration from him versus read and react. With his length and power at 6ft 7 300 plus the expectation for him in our scheme is he will be more disruptive. A much more reliable option for us if Grover goes down in addition to whatever else maybe we can do with him.
    • Thank you. You guys are too kind, but I truly appreciate the support.    Perhaps I am being too hard on myself… But my point still stands that anyone who makes it to the NFL, whether practice squad or starter, has achieved something prestigious that only a rare few ever achieve.    Over a million high schoolers play. Of those only 7.8 percent move on to play in college.    Over 80,000 people play in college. Only 0.4 percent make it to opening day in the NFL.    Only 2,016 players make it to NFL rosters.
