Dion Lewis

"The Colts had signed Lewis to a two-year contract on Sept. 10, looking to bolster depth behind Trent Richardson, Ahmad Bradshaw and Dan Herron while also potentially tapping Lewis as a returner. But Lewis was inactive for the one game he was with the Colts -- a 30-27 loss to the Eagles on ESPN's Monday Night Football -- and ultimately cut because Colts defensive tackle Arthur Jones sustained an ankle injury and general manager Ryan Grigson felt more depth was needed to account for Jones being out."

Nobody would have used Dion Lewis like New England did. He's not a good runner but in the Pats system, he takes the Shane Vareen role and does it well. He was cut by the Browns before New England in case you didn't know.

So nobody would have used him as a runner and catching passes out of the backfield??? Hey look, another role Belichick will get credit for inventing /s

Didn't we also cut Justin Forsett?

Spilled milk.

Some years back, yes. He was a pre-season cut.

That was even a head scratcher at that time as I believe (without googling it) he did a rather good job at KR, and even took one back for a TD in the pre-season. That was either 2007, or 2008 I want to say.

Topics like this are utterly ridiculous. The coaches and Grigson didn't see the things he's doing in New England now and go "Nah, let's cut him."

Billicheck knows how to get the most out of every player, and that's what he's doing here.

And being honest, when Bradshaw was healthy last season he was better than Lewis so while hindsight seems to be 20/20 it really doesn't even apply here.

He sure didn't the best out of Darius Butler or Adalius Thomas

Or a hundred other players who have left New England and been productive elsewhere. The Colts have had guys do well for them who weren't good on another team, just like Lewis for the Pats now. Jerrell Freeman is one of them.

Not that they invented it but it's a big part of their scheme. They just need a small shifty guy that can get open. You seen Brandon Bolden get that touchdown after Dion Lewis got hurt.
