Percy Harvin Traded To The Jets

Poor Harvin. From the SB champs to the Jets.

From the zenith of SB praise to the doldrums of the pathetic Jets...Talk about a cataclysmic drop off...

Wow. I can't wait to listen to sports talk radio in NY tonight. I guess Idzic used his connections in Seattle to get Harvin. Very surprised.

Good question NFLfan. Is the Big Apple fan base happy about this move? I only ask because QB Geno Smith will probably throw multiple picks trying to connect with Percy.

They dealt him because he was a pain in the butt

Sanchez butt fumble & now the new 2.0 version of the new gangrene pain in the caboose. Dysfunction is what the NY Jets excel at. LOL!

I am not sure what the true deal was. Was it a locker room thing? Or was it a case of Harvin still insisting on getting by with his athleticism and not devoting as much to the playbook? I have no idea.

An excellent question Chad. Is this situation self imposed Percy arrogance or sheer laziness like I'm so talented I don't need to even practice? Hmmm...

He is as good a fit as Santonio Holmes was. ;) The NY media will have a field day with Harvin.

I'm looking forward to that actually...Get used to losing Percy. Watching this time bomb explode by late November is going be awesome! "Get your popcorn ready."   haha

Actually, this move reminds me of when Bill Belichick traded WR Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings & Randy realized the difference between an exceptional HC in The Grey Hoodie vs the gigantic downgrade in HC Brad Childress. [Rex Ryan is a brilliant defensive mind, but he sucks at offensive schemes.] I felt sorry for Randy when he realized what a huge mistake it was to get booted out of New England. It's like trading a well oiled ferrari machine franchise for a rusty Ford Escort with over 200,000 miles on it.

Yeah, I'm biased. I like Bill & NE. You can't deny the incredible success Foxboro & Robert Kraft have had since 2000. Wow!

Harvin reminds me of Santonio Holmes, another self-absorbed malcontent who played WR for the Jets. In addition to everything else that's been reported (fights with teammates, etc. ), there is this from a Seahawks site:

"Perhaps the biggest issue, or at least the ultimate final straw, is something that Bob Condotta and John Boyle both reported Friday night: that Percy Harvin refused to go back into the game late against Dallas, when Seattle was trying to drive downfield to re-take the lead. Harvin missed 11 of the Seahawks final 17 snaps and this strange usage had confused pretty much everyone watching; it was something that Pete Carroll tiptoed around with vague comments about game flow and 'readiness'. I would have to think for Pete Carroll, Harvin's refusal to go into the game as a form of protest for touches or usage may have been the most egregious affront to the whole philosophy and culture of the Always Compete program he's created in Seattle."

Great analogy there with Holmes NFLfan! Bravo! The University Of Spoiled Children [uSC] sanctions bad karma has finally come home to roost Pete Carroll. Releasing Percy Harvin will not guarantee an NFC West Division Title. Both AZ & San Fran are playing better football than the Pacific Northwest.

This is going sound selfish...But, seeing Seattle lose to the Chargers, Dallas, & St. Louis is sweet justice to me. Why? Richard Sherman needed a good dose of humility IMHO. He needed to be brought back to earth & I found it hilarious to see Philip Rivers move the ball against Mr. "U Mad Bro."

Part of why I find the Seahawks debacle so funny is that you don't disrespect/dominate Manning & Brady 2 of the best QBs in the NFL today without any consequences down the line. Just because your team beat the Broncos & the Pats in the Playoffs on gameday it doesn't mean that both men won't kick Seattle's caboose in a rematch. Also, I am getting tired of all this elite QB praise NFL pundits shower on QB RW. He's darn good, but not elite yet. Watching the Rams defense/front 4 collapse the pocket & sack RW made me laugh with jubilant joy.

Pete Carroll is a darn good coach, but his happy go lucky positive demeanor 24/7 annoys me. I don't want my HC to be my buddy. Crack the whip man & push me.

Witnessing the Seahawks lose on their home turf to a team that hasn't won the SB since 1996 was fantastic. 2 notoriously pathetic squads in the Cowboys & Rams walked all over you with special teams trickery & a monster running game in Murray. Life is good & seeing the hawks get their wings clipped was necessary & nice to see. End rant.

To quote comedian David Letterman in his 2007 SB rant, "After awhile, everybody wanted to see them get their caboose kicked." Seattle I mean here not NE.  haha

How prescient, SW! Geno threw 3 INTs in the FIRST QUARTER with something like 4 min left. Some Jets fans may be thrilled to have Harvin but they cannot wait to get rid of Geno.

But they really haven't been moving ball on Sherman. He's not giving up many big plays at all. Now they have Sherman covering the #1 receiver because they are so banged up in their secondary. Sherman is still looking like a top tier CB.

He is still a great CB but not close to the level he was last year but as you say that might have to do with the fact that they are now moving him around.

they just started moving him around. He's playing as well as he ever has. Offenses avoid him as much as possible. I don't think he's given up one TD this year so far. There's not a CB playing better than him.

Thank you NFLfan. I don't strike gold often, but it's nice to look like a true visionary occasionally.  :hat:

Still hasn't given up anything worth mentioning though.

Yeah, I am not saying he is a bum. But he has not looked the same given the Hawks pass rush is not there to help him as much this season. And he is being asked to come out of his comfort zone and shadow the best receivers.

    • Ballard speaks eloquently and that makes fan base calm down for that moment, but not exactly transparent...   Example:    Start of last season: Ballard said he liked the young secondary he just drafted.    Year-end Presser: He blamed himself for throwing the young secondary group into the fire.   Pre-draft presser: Ballard says, The young secondary group is not going anymore, and they've all grown up. (When zero off-season program or progress they achieved between January and April)   What exactly transparency we see here? But, Ballard knows how to appease people, and talk to media so that people will trust him.
    • On Grigson we....oh wait... on Ballard we trust! Trade down on select one of the two premium CB and get an additional selection. With injury concerns we will see Latu go down with a season ending injury within the first five games. Bet on it we have that kind of luck. Also Ballards track record on Edge players is lousy.
    • Latu is the #1 DE in the draft in my opinion. He's a technician like none of the others will ever be. Turner has had almost all of his snaps at OLB and probably fits that role better. I'm extremely happy with this pick.
    • I'm not knowledgeable enough to judge this pick but I'm struggling to square two of the most common posts in favor of this pick    1. Injury isn't a big deal.  2. He would have been top 5 without the injury.   Which is it? Elite talent that has no red flags doesnt fall very far. Is it a red flag or not?
    • I thought someone might ask "who" I would want him to swing for the fences for.....and its tough to explain, but I will try. I would have loved Marv Jr. for nostalgia but knew that was unrealistic at any cost.....Liked the idea of Brock Bowers, etc. but its not really "WHO" for me, it was the effort, risk it....and this applies to FA as well. Go out on a limb for a difference maker, I think they are more qualified to determine "who" that is than I.....and maybe there wasn't one. but over the last 7 or 8 years there have been opportunities in FA and draft. So maybe my disappointment is more cumulative than this instance specific......Dunno if that makes sense, he has played it safe for years and does well with what he has had, guess I am saying (my opinion) at some point you gotta say "I am pushing all in" for this player as we need that over the top player now......and he never seems to reach that boiling point.
