wilfork resigns with the pats

I doubt he sees the field till midseason

Probably starts the season on PUP but word is he is already working and training so who knows. I kind of want him to stay out until he is 100 percent as the Pats need him the most second half of the season anyways and don't want to see a re-injury.

According to the thread title he is gone

When I 1st glanced at the title too quickly that's what SW1 thought initially too ColtJ82.

Glad to see that the Foxboro Universe has realigned again. Wilfork is a healthy run stopper in NE. He deserves to retire in Massachusetts IMO...

yea, a 3 year deal to a 33 year old coming off of achilles tendon surgery...  man... very unlike the Patriots front office, but it obviously speaks volumes to what they think of him as a leader of the team and as a person.  Im sure hes got a good year or two left in him, granted he stays healthy. Im glad to see one of my favorites staying for the long haul, its time to go get another ring Vince!!!

Great statement except that last line. Why? Time for INDY to start making their AFC Championship Game push this year.

I do respect your squad immensely JM51 & I am genuinely pleased to see Vince return home, but INDY isn't gonna go down easily either. If you defeat us in the Playoffs, I will tip my cap to ya, but not before. INDY has a decent shot at Championship success this year, but I want NE at full strength too. I like well respected rivals evenly matched. It's better that way.

It's pretty much a one year deal as only 3 mill is guaranteed.

Only 3 mil is guaranteed. It is basically a one year deal. I am surprised in one way that Vince signed it but I guess he figured if he can stay healthy and perform then he will get the full contract. At 33, probably the best deal he could have hoped for.

Yea im sure they'll have no problem paying him the $7.5 mill each year assuming hes still performing to a high level.  I guess its not that much risk for them when as you said only 3 mill is guaranteed which means they would only have to carry about $1 mill in dead cap space for cutting him.

I really would have been bummed out if he had moved on.  I would have understood it from a business stand point, but as a fan it would have really sucked to see big Vince playing in another uniform.  Im glad that both sides could come to an agreement and figure out something that works for both of them.

hehe im sure we'll be seeing a lot of Indy just like old times.  I really like the team they're putting together in Indianapolis, they've been competing and in the playoffs 2 years running now and are still a little young and green, so they're only going to get better over time.

Luck is the real deal, very classy and humble guy that comes to compete every Sunday.  I hope the Patriots have a future replacement for Brady close to his level so that we can continue this rivalry for the next 10 years and beyond!

Yeah, I am happy too. He has been a great player and ambassador for this team and community. I still believe he has something left to give as well but not sure it is three years worth. Still though he is one of the best DTs in the game. I am glad that the Pats did pony up somewhat as it is usually their protocol to move on from aging players. Glad Vince was an exception.

Good to have Vince back. Even if he does stay past 2014 the cap is supposedly skyrocketing the next few years so maybe this is a "real" 3-year deal. I guess we'll have to see.

I also haven't heard a word about him being on PUP or not ready for camp in July... he tore the Achilles in week 4, so he could be good to go, I don't know.

    • Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete of all-time, if anyone thinks otherwise, I want what they are drinking . He was a great NFL football player/RB, good Pro baseball player. Could bench press 450 pounds down to chest and up once and run a 40 in 4.1.
    • He is and he is overrated. He is a great player but I could even argue his teammate Brown is better. Let me say this, I know I come off as a Tatum hater, I really am not. He just never performs in the playoffs like a #1 option. Brown won the MVP for example. Take Brown off that team and the Mavs would have definitely beat them then. Tatum is on a loaded team, they have Brown, Porzingis, White, Holiday, and Horford.    Off the top of my head, players that are better than Tatum are: Joker, Luka, Giannis, Embiid, Edwards, SGA, and even Brown - so he isn't top 7. I would even take Brunson and Haliburton over him - they have more responsibility playing PG and are young as well. I have Tatum top 10 - he is slightly better than Butler and Mitchell, Tatum is great but shaky at times, he cracks my top 10 because LeBron, Curry, and Durant are old and Leonard is always injured. Without Haliburton, the Pacers would be a .500 team. Without Brunson so would the Knicks. Without Tatum, Boston would still win 55 games with Brown/Porzingis/Holiday/White/Horford, they could have won around 70 this past season but quit playing the last 2 weeks.
    • Fever are now in 7th, 8 teams make the playoffs. I think they will get in. Clark is great already, I figured she would be. Screw her critics!
    • The whole division stinks except for the Brewers and Cards. Cubs have played like doo doo and are only 1 game out of 3rd place  .
    • This is another reason why we should enjoy our time here and not bicker with friends and family. A life can be gone in a split-second no matter how big and strong anyone is. This is truly sad, and the kid had everything. RIP.   Word of advice, if you are going to drink alcohol, that is fine but DONT DRIVE!
