Bob Sanders is the biggest reason Irsay has a Super Bowl ring not Manning!

I'm tired of Manning getting all this credit for the Super Bowl and building the stadium...The biggest reason we won the SB was Bob Sanders and his Defensive Player of the Year performance all year and in the playoffs...Manning was average in the playoffs that year as usual and we won with Defense...Say what you want about Sanders being hurt... That year was one of the best single season performances ever on defense and he needs some credit...He was hurt a lot because of the fury he played with, but give him credit for what he did for us...

Sanders was hurt and missed at least 10 games in 2006. He won DPOY the next season. But, yes, his impact on that championship run was huge. Others had a tremendous impact as well - Rob Morris replacing Gilbert Gardner, and Dallas Clark coming back from injury for a solid playoff contribution. Let's not forget AV.

Last I checked the Indianapolis Colts won the Super Bowl, but yeah Bob was a huge difference maker.

But why do I get the feeling this about something else?

"The Legend of Bad Bob Sanders", I'm just sick of hearing people worship Manning like he is some kind of GOD...He put his shoes on 1 foot at a time just like everyone else...And that particular year Bob Sanders was a 1 man wrecking crew and Manning was ordinary in the playoffs...Manning is an all time great QB no doubt, but this is getting ridiculous saying the Colts were gonna move and we never would have built the stadium and it annoys me to no end...We could have drafted Roethlisberger or Aaron Rodgers or signed Drew Brees in free agency and still won a Super Bowl or multiple Super Bowls who knows....

And McFarland beasting it up. We just came together at the perfect time and hit our stride. That's why while the SD loss sucked it's not the end if the world. Just have to keep chipping away. And bring it every game!

Yep...your right!! He was ridiculous when he came back though and was the KEY....

You do crave attention, don't you. I don't even have the energy to respond - what's the point.

No...just want people to look at it objectively instead of Manning getting all this credit like he did it all by himself...We had some great hall of fame players during that era on both sides of the ball...

But won't...

We beat some good teams to get to Grossman but I like your point....A lot more Glamorous beating Brady and the Pats twice like Eli did...

Sanders was great that year. I believe it was him that picked Brady to end the AFCCG. I always hated seeing him out there.

I absolutely hate when Colts fans make snide remarks about Bob Sanders because of his injury issues. The guy was pretty much amazing whenever he did play, he hardly gets the respect he deserves. Manning absolutely deserves the recognition he gets, I just dont see why you think its a slight against Bob when he does. Actually more and more, when the media brings up that SB win they bring up how he didn't have great numbers and how the defense stepped up in a big way.

True definition of "Gamewrecker!"...Hoping LaRon Landry stays healthy from here on out and has a similar effect starting Sunday night...

So your method of getting people to exam the issue more objectively is to look at it even less objectively?

The Bears defense got them to the playoffs, Grossman was more or less a game manager. Colts beat that defense. Why do people like to forget that and just give the Grossman excuse?

Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Edgerrin James, Marvin Harrison, Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne...That's 6 on 1 team so I can see why Irsay is a little peeved, but he still should've kept his mouth shut..

Do I really need to explain the joking sarcastic tone of that post to a fellow user named JoKeR?

j/k

I'm actually in the It's because of the whole team effort Irsay has a ring camp. Not any specific person.

jshipp23 - c'mon man.

Let it go. This comes across as classless. I understand you want to shine a light on other contributing factors - but to try to undervalue what P Manning means to the QB position period - much less the Indianapolis Colts is asinine.

Without Peyton Manning we are Cleveland or any other team that never had a QB. Name one player in P Manning's tenure that would have became a star without P Manning being here. B Sanders without Peyton is like a poor mans T Polamalu without Big Ben. Look at Houston. They have all the same pieces from last year - except a QB.

Not very many team food chains put a Safety over the QB. Last year - would you even put E Reed or R Lewis over J Flacco?

Like I said - i understand your intent - but let it go. You do not have to be the one to address this already ridiculous topic. All this is doing is taking away from the incredible feeling we will have after beating these fools down this weekend.

I have been all over these blogs reading posts from these half-a-fans who are scared to lose this week. Some of them are so wishy-washy they are rooting for Peyton this week.

I'm sorry - if you are rooting for Peyton this week - you are a Denver fan - period.

jshipp23 - dont sacrifice your integrity for people who dont care about it anyway.

Btw, Bob only played in 4 games in 2006 so im not sure why it's one of the greatest defensive seasons ever"

his 2007 season was way better.

I know I didn't realize he was out that much but he was the reason our defense dominated in the playoffs.. 07 was DPY your right...

No. really? I thought for sure it was Sanders. Maybe it was Sanders that may have broken up the pass to Brown to covert the third and short that would have allowed the Pats to run the clock and end the game?

Correct. Sanders almost had a pick-6 there. Marlin's INT sealed the deal. We're happy to remind you.

You got me to bite on that 1, GJ.

But seriously people love to bring up the Grossmen excuse.

I am amazed at how little you actually know. To be a Colts fan and post on here in such a black & white, know-it-all style that you do and then not know basic stuff, like Irsay having daughters who will eventaully take over ownership. Or in the case of this thread, claiming Sanders was DPoY the season they won the Super Bowl. Simply not accurate and kind of funny.

Lol, Peyton is the only lock for HoF in that list.

Reggie and Marvin will be on the WR waiting list.

Edge is tricky because his career tailed off. While most RBs don't that make the HoF.

Dwight and Robert won't. They are sack specialist, and there are dozens of guys ahead of them not in the HoF.
