Coltivated
I thought he did pretty good tonight I especially like his hand use. I couldn't help noticing every time he was standing he would drop into pass coverage. Correct me if I'm wrong but I knew what he was doing before every play. I specifically remember redding commenting on what makes the Baltimore 3-4 defense so effective was the fact that you didn't know pre snap who was rushing or dropping into coverage. Maybe I'm being anal but this could be a huge flaw.
CjMcGirt23
It's preseason. Pagano isn't trying to make the D look exotic right now, especially for Werner. Trying to get him experience and comfortable.

I am sure if you saw it then the coaches will and it is VERY EASILY corrected so calling it a "huge flaw" is being way too over the top
House
Some one screen shot these "tells" and his subsequent actions. Seems strange to me.
ÅÐØNϧ 1
A Tell ? I'll tell ya everything I know about the Germanator ...Do you have a few seconds to waste ? He played in 1 game .
lollygagger8
He's a bust then. Ship him back to Germany.
Jason_
I think it's more accurate to say that he stood up every time he lined up as an OLB and he was in his 4 point stance every time he was lined up as a DE.
OffensivelyPC
You're being a bit too critical. Kyle and Jason sum it up perfectly. Either it's a positional demarcation or it's easily corrected. No coach in the world is going to let an OLB/DE give off that consistent of a tendency without addressing it.
Rafiki
Nothing more then coincidence I am sure. The defense is running very vanilla packages so far. I'm sure when the regular season you will see him rush when standing up as well as pass coverage.
Valpo2004
It's called being vanilla when you are in the pre-season because you don't want to give too much away before the season starts. No coach is going to let a tell that obvious go into the regular season.

Maybe I'm being anal but this could be a huge flaw.He was in coverage several times ad didn't look like a liability, for a OLB in coverage. Shows good instincts in all 3 phases in his position. Rushing, Run stopping, coverage.plus he comes from a 4-3. i think we got what some talking heads call a " football player "I'm glad we got him. Maybe I'm being anal but this could be a huge flaw.It was his 1st pro game. Could you be confused with him playing 2 positions? One is upright and the other in a 4 point stance. I could be wrong as I wasn't looking at him specifically but the coaches will catch any give a ways and get them coached up. He will be studying his own tapes as well. Sorry Jason, I pretty much answered the comment with what you said. I didn't see your response till later in the thread.
Tark The Shark
Werner I thought looked good, even if he had "tells" in that game. As long as he produces, when the games matter, then I wouldn't care if he told the blocker what he was going to do every play.
throwing BBZ
Zero chance he is doing other than what he is being asked to do. sillylooked darn good for a Rook.
