Josh McNary

If he is still serving our country the colts need to keep a space for him to compete for a roster spot cause he deserves it!!!

He's on the military reserve list, so we don't have to keep a spot warm for him. He doesn't count against the 90 man roster.

I hope we get to see this beast in action!

His film is incredible....fast to the ball....smart....big hits...251 pounds.

I would have felt a whole lot better last year, but I really want to see him play.  Would not be a bad 'stash' on the PS for injury backup....he or Rayford...the kick blocking specialist. (Or my favorite name CO Prime)   :colts:  :colts:  :colts: !!!!!

After serving his country, they better let that man through.

I wrote in another thread that both he and Adongo are almost guarenteed PS roster spots (if they want them).  They owe it to Adongo, and IMHO McNary deserves it for his service.  Plus, they both have potential.

Agreed. They, at the very least, gotta teach Adongo how to play the game first and see what he can really offer out there after some development.

I don't follow. How do they owe either guy anything? McNary basically has a four week job interview straight out of the military, which is something that I'm sure he's had his fingers crossed hoping for over the last two years. And Adongo received a signing bonus and room and board for an audition. I don't see why the Colts would be expected to keep either of these guys beyond first cuts if they aren't performing well.

I don't think they'd bring Adongo over without some promise of employment. I think I read somewhere that Grigs said he'd be with the team this year.

Lets face facts, McNary hasn't played football in what, three years? He has practically zero chance of making the roster, yet they brought him in. It's my opinion, and I may be wrong, but I suspect if either of those two has a lick of potential, the team is committed to keeping them on. In both of their cases it is a try out, but a try out for the PS, with little expectations.

I understand that you have to clear waivers to be put on a PS, I don't think either will be a problem. Again, this is my opinion, but I won't be a bit surprised if both are with the team in September.

Both are practice squad eligible. I thought you were saying they'd be given a spot on the final 53. It certainly sounds like the Colts are open to keeping them around long term, assuming they don't absolutely suck. And even if another team grabs them off waivers, they'll still have a job in the NFL.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my post. Yes, I don't think either have a shot on the 53, but both are almost guaranteed PS.

Just watched the NFL Network at Colts camp. I was shocked that they actually knew the Colts had more than one player.

We really don't need all these OLBers, I say put McNary and Adongo on the PS for now. Besides they probably need more than just a training camp and preseason to be ready. I doubt either would be signed by another team if the Colts did this. Colts could use the roster spots for other positions.

They cannot place them on the PS because it does not exists until the final cut. If they don't make the cuts then they can be elligible for PS unless they get signed by other teams.

I also get the feeling that McNary may have a chance to win a spot on the 53 man roster. Either way, out of extreme curiosity I am excited to see him and Adongo play in the preseason

How can you guys just flat out say someone doesn't have a chance to make the team?

Who's to say Mr. Bad foot Pat Angerer doesn't destroy his foot, then what?

Or what if Mr. Sidbury doesn't pan out?

To say they have 0% chance to make it is completely wrong. Everyone has a chance, that's why they're here. Now do some have higher chances than others? Sure, that's true but everyone has a chance

Agreed. I don't believe we can hide them on the PS. If we don't find a way to keep them then some other team probably will.

Just a quick question regarding Josh's military service.  The U. S. Military Academy requires graduates to complete five years of active duty service in return for the education they receive.  So how does Josh McNary get a "pass" after just two years?
